That looks great! ^^
unless they have some unforeseeable downside (like they're actually made of cream cheese cunningly disguised as ABS)

No, no, no.  For "Fn" on a Poker. Press it, the Escape and WASD (etc.) engage.  Press it again, they disengage.

Because it is like numlock or caps lock with the state change on key-up.

 - Ron | samwisekoi

p.s.  Although on F5 it would be helpful for CC auctions.  :p

One of the HEROS keyboards has seen better days, looks like it was used to fight off a zombie or two.  The other two are pristine, hardly look like they've been used.  Trackballs are a mixed bag; one spins freely, the other two are kind of gritty feeling.  Going to put off the disassembly for another day.

This 100x. I was playing with it yesterday on my yet not installed universal plate, and it's so much easier than using pliers.

Wow....that Alps Dolch set looks incredible! Where on earth did you score that and the HEROS board??

These keyboards were all from various eBay.de sales.  The Alps set is from an older Toshiba laptop, and the Marquardt keyboards (HEROS is a German weapons system) came from a military surplus seller in Germany.

I found out about the HEROS boards from a Great Finds deal posted by Foxtrott (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=42853.msg870301), and had Ascaii on DT proxy buy them for me.  I bought four, which is all they had left, but looking through the GH archives it seems they come up for sale fairly regularly.

A lot of the older Toshiba laptops had Alps-compatible switches, there's a list in this thread: http://deskthority.net/photos-videos-f8/toshiba-t3100-t5200-t4711.html  This is my first set with German lettering, and I'm still looking for the orange/grey doubleshots.

Mmmm, more Alps knowledge, thank you! And are those MX Whites on the HEROS board?

Someone informed me that they're Marquardt switches.

They're actually Marquardt switches.    :p

Feel a bit like scratchy MX Blacks, linear, and seem to have a shorter travel before they bottom out.  I'm going to try lubing the board I keep (the others are spoken for), and see if that makes them a bit smoother.  I suspect they feel scratchy because they haven't had much use, typing in a set of firing commands once in a while.  First order of business will have to be the cable mod, though, so I can use it with a PC.

More info here: http://deskthority.net/wiki/Marquardt_Military_Keyboard_7069.3111

(The eBay.de seller actually has the complete HEROS firing computer, complete with keyboard and case, if you're curious: http://www.ebay.com/itm/320758558800?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649)

I got an Eric Barney wrist rest on Wednesday, first 5 minutes I have had to myself to admire and use it.

I couldn't be more impressed, and I wasn't sure if I was going to like using a wrist rest after not ever having one... I will be getting one for my poker.

Craftsmanship is amazing, sorry for the sh!tty iphone pic, I don't have the energy to get the camera out and setup the lights.
