I found that, too. I originally joined to see if I could get some help chosing a mechanical keyboard, but I'll probably stick around because it's not too big, the people seem nice and I have a fetish for computer accessories, especially mice and keyboards.

Yeah, he bought one of those too.

Chinese keyboards are like Chinese food.  You get hungry quickly after buying one and have to order another.

comrade, your persistent attack on our brothers of the Peoples Republic of China has me worried. Word on the streets of Leningrad is that brother Yeltsin is officially investigating your planned usurpation of the CPC.

And now I understand the whole GH custom keyboard thingggggggggg.
And why KL had not only taken the lead on this project but also initiated with the uniqueness, including rarer switches.  Yes, it now all makes sense!
Well, is this custom keyboard happening?  I'm still interested!

I wonder if ItlnStln stopped posting because of the shame of buying a OCN Ducky?

That is one fugly spacebar.

That is the ugliest spacebar I have ever seen.  It's almost unbelievable that they would make something so awful.

I'm curious, what are the lights on F9-F11 for?

The F9-F11 keys double up as extra function keys, can't remember which is which OTOH, but basically the LEDs indicate when extra functions such as...
  • Windows key lock
  • Windows key, Alt swap (for Mac users)
  • Ctrl key, shift swap (for some Linux nutjobs)

... are enabled :)

Just some numbers you might be interested in.

The first batch of OCN keyboards was 240. We sold ~190, gave away ~50 in contests, had one defective (bad switch), and one return.

Current batch is selling excellently as well.

Hey Ripster, what was that about Ducky being low-quality?

But why did you guys shut down the thread where everybody was complaining about the keycaps?

Heck if I know, I wasn't on staff then.

You guys get paid?  That was a LOT of free keyboards given away.

We broke even or just above on a per-keyboard basis. Overall a loss counting the ones given away. OCN doesn't make money off its branded products, it makes money on advertising.

I'm not paid now, but I may be paid in the near future for basically doing the same thing, only in California and with a fancy title.

I'd bet the keyboards are basically written off in the OCN advertising budget,  probably a noticeable loss is taken. Notice people at other forums mention OCN when people ask about getting a Ducky? Pretty cheap compared to random website ads I bet, and a much better site visit return.

For the record, the California gig is with a different company. Have to wait a couple weeks to see if it comes through though.

I've thought about proposing mechanical keyboards as a new product for them, since they have established global distribution channels, which no-one else in the market but Razer can say. But I doubt they'd go for it. A shame too, I thought up a business model and marketing stratergy and everything.

I've heard from Tator and now you that there's a new company with global reach that is already strong in the USA that will enter mechs.

Plainly you misunderstood me. The company I'm talking about has no interest in keyboards, to my knowledge. I'm going to pitch the idea after I get established there, but it will probably go over like a lead balloon (one not designed by Adam Savage).

I have no idea who Tator's talking about.

I wonder what it's like with the spacebar flipped?

Obviously it'd be ducked up.
I trolled Geekhack and all I got was an eponymous SPOS.
