It could probably use better/real rubber feet, as this keyboard seems kinda "slippery".

Metal is always nice, though.

Well, "bigger" feet actually.
Large feet like Leopold's make me feel safer.

I believe the extra switches around the spacebar switch are stabilizers.

Judging from his last post below, it's supposed to be very limited and that only 500 will be made and perhaps they're all spoken for which means we're out of luck.

I hope that isn't the case though.  Like I said before, I'd buy that in an instant if it isn't $400. lol

This is not a mass produced keyboard. Its designed and assembled by a single group of people. What was being "ordered" were parts which caused the delay in production. The PCB just finished production earlier this month and the keyboard will be released soon now.

The sales for this one were booked in advanced using the groupbuy system on OTD.kr. So, a group buy should not be possible. AQUA had announced that a foreign sale would probably be happening in 2012 or something. These will likely happen through eBay. To my knowledge the board is currently limited to 150 pieces, with another wave of 100 following later.

To answer some more questions from this thread:

1) The keyboard does not come with Cherry Corp keycaps, they were just used on the prototype. You are supposed to use "SoRaWeRe" keycaps with this. (Sora WYSE Replicia)

2) It uses Cherry stabilizers because they are generally the preferred type in the east

It's always a plus to be able to rip the keyboard out of your PC and beat the living **** out of an intruder leaving only minimal damage to the device(missing keycaps).

This is all under the assumption that you cannot reach your 1911.

Can someone summarize the differences between "The Cheats" and the "TypeNow"?  Is it just one is a kit?

English please.

The case of the "TypeNow" is lot nicer, and more refined, and has an elevated construction.

Also the feet are removable.

http://www.kbdmania.net/xe/best_article/2442191
http://www.kbdmania.net/xe/1739458

However "The Cheats" has a customizable firmware.

Actually its about the entire opposite. CMA (Copy my Ass aka the Cheat) is a hand-worked case with little to no flaws, while the TypeNowSolid is a mass produced unit with rough "scratches" even on the first batch of picitures.

Alright, I'll chime in.

The Typenow is a custom keyboard created by Kant from KBDMania forums which is affiliated or owned by IOmania as well. So the IOmania TypeNow keyboard is their first in house custom keyboard. You could say that the Ddokyu keyboard is the root of all these custom keyboards which was the top dog of custom keyboards (still highly sought after and rare I might add.)

The Cheats is a custom keyboard created by users on OTD forums as you may all know. It was a custom kit group buy deal.

Both keyboards are created separately and are not related to each other in any way as far as I know. I will say this though, there was a break out awhile ago between KBDmania and OTD regarding group buys and such and resulted in a whole mess.

I might offer my help for translating all the stuff properly once I get in contact with Kant, but I won't have time until end of next week. It pains me to see a horrible translation influencing the image of such a high quality keyboard. :P

Is the typenow solid the reason for the mess your talking about?  I read that part of the reason OTD is so shy with information is they had some designs and whatnot stolen or copied?

People have tried, the main problem is all the bickering that usually starts in the thread afterwords and then the person who is trying to get it going just gives up.  The other problm is the complexity of doing a keyboard like this, you have to source a ridiculous amount of stuff (PCB, Controller, keys, stabilizers, design, milling).  The best way to go about something like this in my opinion would be to get about 50 dedicated people who agree on what they want and who will be in it until the board is finished even if it takes a year and dont mind spending the extra coin.  I just dont think thats going to happen although I would be up for it.

The way I see it, the only option at this point for a board like this for me is the typenow solid which im really not a fan of =( as getting one of the 356 boards or even one of these "the cheats" just doesnt seem plausible.

I disagree. The problem is the capital needed up front (typically $5,000+) to fund the damn thing!

I was working with the Leopold designer before trying to make a tenkeyless rebranded Leopold with clears for the GH community. I decided against doing it in the end, but if anyone is interested to take something like that on, I can put you in touch with Archisite. Just let me know. Like I said though, you're probably looking at spending about $5k up front for production.

KL, Im not talking about a rebranded leo or filco.  I want something completely custom.  And the upfront capitol would come from the 50 or so dedicated people who would be in it to win it lol, everyone puts in 100$ to start blah blah something like that.  It was just an opinion and I even stated that it probly wouldnt work eithor.  A rebranded board isnt easy to do eithor but one of these completely custom boards is just a whole nother animal.

You should come on IRC and chat with me, Im on now

If I have the option of blue/clear/black/red switches and it doesn't have Cherry stablizers I am SO in. I'll even put in some extra $$ to fund it if needed. PM me if this is happening.

Nothing is happening, the CMA "The Cheats" keyboard was just posted here as showing us the new Korean custom they are doing which we have no chance at acquiring until they put it on Ebay which may happen later this year (Cant stress MIGHT enough).  Typenow Solid is the only option available to us and it is very overpriced, Hamblet posted some pics that were deleted and it is pretty much a Leopold(Same PCB, Controller, Stabilizers, Keys)  with a nice aluminum body.

Interestingly the stabilized keys on my SS neither feel stiff nor squeaky. The rattly feel is the only thing I don't like about them.

.. Hamblet called them "Wyse Stabilizers" for some weird reason..

I do not have any wEiRd reason. It is a simple logical conclusion from experience.

Have you ever seen any Cherry original MX_switched keyboard which has Cherry's "with Frame Stabil" ?  In my experience, No No No.

If you have any WYSE keyboard, chek it out. All WYSE that I have ever seen have that "with Frame Stabil". So I have no choice, I called it as "WYSE Stabil".

And, from local Leopold's Ads and Kant who is selling TypoNowSolid confirmed somewherelse that "that Stabil" is imported from Cherry Germany.

I do not know what is updated or not. But, what I clearly know is that all the comments of mine are gone forever. Therefore, at least, for me, it looks like a censorship. Censorship is very interesting issue but feels boring at the same time.

- I call this keyboard as TypoNowSolid. If you see their AD in English above mentioned link, you do not need any more explanation about it.

- Actually, thier AD in their own mother****ng mother tongue is way worse than English version. It is a horrible horrible garbage.

- But, there are more to come. It is a real shame for real. An ugly local keyboard forum OhTheDirity announced a board called "The Cheat". But, I think TypoNowSolid is the keyboard that should be titled under that name. Because, TypoNowSolid is cheating their customers. They said it will be a "Flagship keyboard" but,I saw "Frog**** keyboard" here. TypoNowSolid's PCB is identical twins to Leopold FC 200RT. In my opinion, FC 200RT is not a top class keyboard. It is a plain board. Actually, it has a low calss cheap phenolic resins in it. Funny. All you can have is just a nice CNC cut alu-casing. Nothing else. Yes, the casing itself is worthwhile for spend that big money. Good choice, because there will be no more alu-casing boards any more.

RiGS and PandaR are thinking of buying it and will hopefully do a review.

If I buy it, I will definitely do a review on it. However those cherry stabilizers and the price tag are still holding me back.
This keyboard is basically a tenkeyless version of my SS in a metal case, which is made by Datacomp as well.
I positively like the case design of the TypeNow Solid.
However even the plastic case of the cheap Steelseries withstood a truck abuse, and as sixty pointed out the aluminium case easily scratches.

I think it is not worth having a nicely carved, but cold and extra heavy metal case, especially for a portable tenkeyless keyboard.

There is still one up, I am still considering buying one aswell.  What other chance will we have at a full alluminum housing keyboard?  I just cant see the koreans putting any of those cheats on Ebay as I would buy one of those without thinking twice as you can just tell that they were made by people who love keyboards and not by people who love money.

The Cheat is in extremely high demand, as soon as one shows up in the market section it's snatched up within minutes. Literally.
Dozens of WTB threads but nobody is really selling them. I do enjoy all the pics that are being uploaded though since it's been distributed a few days ago.
I wish I was in Korea when the group buy happened. :(

The SP keycaps with the teal/aqua color fonts are also quite popular (personally not my thing, I prefer beige/white cherry corps) as well.

This it the main reason that I asked you about this forum's updating. This is not an updating. This is a censorship. WHY this forum deleted all the records that I worte in that 2days ? Remember ? I gave you all the detail information about the f**King Leopold keyboard models, their model naming secrets and including exct (brief) histories.

Ripster, you are overestimating Leopold. What do you want from them ? Just let them go. They are stupid. Do not bewildered by their model naming rules. They have their ways of cheating.

FC 300R and FC 500R are exactly same model. The ONLY, SOLE and SINGLE differece is keycap's letters. Former has English/Local, the other has only your language. THAT IS ALL.

If you want some more intellectual or reasonable reasons from Leopold for changing moldel numbers in two hundreds, I told you, you are  overestimating them.

Yes,, That is very convenient. Deja Vu.

We have a news. It is a very very big news in my area. One of the largest bank in this country had a computer problem. Their explanation goes like this "One of our engineer typed.  >delete file  commend on his laptop". And the next moment THE big IMB banking servers (about 300 more) all around country are down and deleted informaions. So, we lost all banking records in there. People know the untold truth. "Ahaaa. That son of *****es starts new business. Laundry services". All the dirty black money got cleaned and now they are very innocent white money. Nobody can make any kind of hard evidence about it. Because we do not have any details/informaions.

EDIT
IMB -> IBM  (I hate this three letters. Sorry for hateness)

Hmmmmm, you are very interesting. I think you got the same ways of thinking as 50 hitmen in those idiot local keyboard on the planet.
I just expressed my experience with some good evidences. And, can you guess what happend the next moment ??? 50 maybe more bullets penetrate my brain in minutes. They do not asked me any reason, any kind of intellectual discussions. Actually they hate discussions. They are just trigger happy (in this case switch_happy) idiots. Long live the Worshippser.

I prefer invisible keyboards. Anything invisible to the idiots eyes, I like it. Now I am typing this English letters with Taiwanese left handed keyboard, model number is KB 8862 XPL from Strongman.

Nobody is out to get you, I dont know if its that your english isnt the best or what but im guessing it seems to you like everyone is out to get you because you talk down to people like we are stupid or something, you insult every keyboard and keycap maker on the planet and the only reason you are here is probably because youve been kicked off every keyboard or enthusiast forum in your neck of the woods because you come off as being super arrogant when your no differant then me or anyone else here at this forum, we all come here for the same reason because we like keyboards, which you obviouly do not as you hate every keyboard on the face of the earth.

Its ok though keep calling us "Did I mentioned Diatec in this stupid Keyboard/Forum/Company listings" and every other name you can come up with and im sure everyone around here will keep thinking your the coolest like noodles ( I thought you were cool at first until you started calling us morons every other sentence).  Its a pretty telling sign when Sixty thinkgs your no good as he seems like one of the most even temepered people on these and deskthoritys forums.

So do you think there is any chance that any will make it to ebay?  They could make a killing on a couple of these on ebay, I guess it isnt really about the money with these boards though and cant say I blame them

I had some typos in my earlier comment, but that was not a big deal.

I do not care what you are thinking. Because, you hate me with unclear reason.

You are using the word "WE" when you think there are some people who are with you. Who are WE ?

I guess you mean, Those local arrogant longtimer_gurus around KBDManiacs ? Or, those wannabe arrogant gasbag gurus in that forum(s) ? Or, those innocent only_consuming_worshippers ? Or, just_joined do_not_know_at_alls ? Ah, there are some more candidate WEs. I really respect some (a few) real gurus. You maybe know some of them (or maybe not) in this GK, DeskThority, KBDMania and other individually scattered keyboard websites around world (including dearest Mr. T. R in Japan who knows everything about Topre. Mybe you know the famous Moonlight Cafe. If you are not a stupid).

If you are calling above all kinds of variety people into one "WE",  then, I quit. You win.
That is the only reason why I am thinking you have the exactly same ways of thinking with those no_brain_only worshipping_50 hitmen in KBDManiac.

I hate some keyboards with very clear reason(s).
I hate some company/brands/distributor with very clear reason(s).
I hate some forum member(s, just like you) with very clear reason(s).

And I also have some really lovely one(s, at least in my mind) with clear reasons. These are Keyboards/Company/Brands/Distributors/Forum members. They are silent ones and give me no bull****s no idiotic myth and no silly fatasy at all.  They are really hardworking at their own unseen places. They talk to me with their own infomations, data and experiences. They are middle priced boards, Strongman, Datacomp, Costar, Filco, some importers you do not know at all (and I do not want call all individual members whom I like)  etc etc...

Now you are one of the Asshats. You hates me just to hate me.

Back to the topic.

All keyboards are good. They are just good. Lots of fine developers and engineers have devoted their own precious life energies into that.

But, If you think about that who handles the goods, then the same nice goods could have different name on it.

You know new keyboard TypeNow Solid from IOMania (S. Korean keyboard distributor. It has very nice reputations for very long time). The keyboard have been claimed that it will be a top quality, high class keyboard. Couple of days ago, thanks for some good reviewers threads in KBDMania. Now, we know all of their little dirty secrets. This is just full of bull****s. TypeNow Solid has cheap board of Leopold FC 200RT without any kind of modification/change/improvements. It is, actually, if you think about their nice_promise/good_wordings, bottom quality, low class keyboard. Disappoited. No, it is more than disappoited. They cheated customers. So, I re-named that board to TypoNowSolid. Thre is more specific reason for that naming. When you see their AD (both of English version and their own mother tongue version all), it has too many typos (and if I were good at English, I could find some more weird sentences). I typed all of them (almost 90 of them). And sent to Boss of IOMania expectiong some positive response. They gave me a response-insult. They just deleted my errata. Fine, you give me bull****s/insincerities/asshat attitudes. That is enough.

This is all about between me and TypoNowSolid. Some ignorant idiot in this forum hates me. I do not care about that. I am having more that 50 hitmen here and there. I am a busy man.

Do you want to hear some more stories about OhTheDirty's keyboad "The Cheat" (they have real name - Copy My Ass keyboard, in short CMA. It is a really stupid_dirty name). I guess you do not want to hear. Because you are really want to have it. Yes, the board are fine. I agree. The people who handles/makes the board are not like that.

And, How about local distributor Leopold (I call them as the f**King Leopold). Yes, their goods are nice. I like goods from datacomp. But, I have an unpleasant memories with Leopold. I guess you do not want to hear.

Realforce ? Yes, I got very unhappy ones too. It is not a rumor or guruish-knowledge about that. It is my direct experience.

I have my right and reasons to hate them. So I hate them (some of them).
I have my right and reasons to love them. So I love them (some of them).

Back to the topic.

Yes, I agree, that is really nice keyboards. If you want to buy it, do it.

Here. I am just adding a very weak voice of mine. That is all. Idiot.

EDIT

Today, I saw a news. Topre have one more new model in here.
Realforce 106.
It is not the old Japanese 106 ver., this is a new Korean 106 ver. which has its own language keys.

It has red steel plate and purple switch plastics.
Color scheme looks really ugly to me (free of charge extra 12 keytops).
Key weights are equal layouts and variety layouts as in other models.
Nothing special except above mentioned.

The reason I added this information to this comment is for Leopold. Leopold is a S. Korean distributor who imports keyboard from Taiwan (and name it as Leopold) and Realforce from Japan.

I call them "the f**King Leopoold". Becaus I have a bad memory with them. I told, claimed and insisted them that you have to have really localized version of your keyboard. Just like European/Japanese versions - which have their own language keytop(s) thus changed their layouts from US/ISO/American layouts. Actually, Leopold have "a" localized boards but it is not really localized ones. Because they are US/ISO/American layouts with some extra local charactors printed on keytops. The only response from them to my suggestion was the same as IOMania's - ignoring.  Fine.  In doing that I had to have fight with more than 100 dirty_zombie forum members of KBDManiacs. They are all shouting "We do not need ugly KOREAN letters, dirty KOREAN keys and uncomfortable KOREAN layouts,  on noble Realforce". I think those *******s are all Americans for sure from top to toe. Stupid. Shame. Nothing more. I know, The real one whom to blame is not Leopold but these ignorant customers. So, I am not calling them as a Customer OR Keyboard Lovers OR forum members. They are just no_brain_worshippers. And for the distributor who hides behind 100 hitmen, I gave them a dirty name f**King Leopold. Of course the f**King Leopold gave me several other fine bull****s too. Want to hear ? To tell the full story is just waste of time.

You guys from western do not understand the meaning of KOREAN keys on keyboard. Because you do not have any historical memory of bitter colonial period. 35 years of Japanese and after that now, we are American colony. Fine.

But, do not categorize me a backward_going dumbass. I am going forward. There is a scientific reasons too. Maybe you recognize that Japanese layout has very short Spacebar(s). Because, actually, they do not need any spaces between each letters (words) at all. You westerners are not possible to imagine it but, for Japanese it is for real and for sure (Chinese too). Koreans are halfway. A little bit closer to you guys. My point is we do not need that much long long Spacebar layouts. A little bit shorter from US/ISO/American is the best.

Finally, I can see my language version of the Realforce (Not US/Americal version !!). God Damn. It takes more than 4 years.

EDIT 2nd
- New Realforce has tow versions. One is reduced_noise, the other is regular_noised.
- Added, the reason to have shorter Spacebar.

Every and all local asshats are worshipping those idiot keytops. Sorrawalle keytops, Ddddochu imitation keytops etc..

Hey, KeyboardAmoretto.. It is not for you. It is for far and far Estern peripheral residentials like me.
It has very stupid keys on left/right of Spacebar. It mkes only "make signal" and not make break signal. Nobody knows why
(How about Japanese language keys on their version 106/108/109s ? Do they make break signal ? or not ? I have no idea).

However, it was nice that so many geekhackers saw when you revealed us your real nature. Too bad that half of the content lost in the forum update.
BTW Pokerstars and Full Tilt are definitely not warez sites.
