Title: My Lamborghini coloured Mechanical Keyboards - Logitech G710+ & CM QuickFire XT
Post by: TotallydubbedHD on Sun, 22 June 2014, 10:06:48
Hey guys n girls,

I thought to create a new thread, simply because a post in the mechanical keyboard thread would get lost.
I wanted to get my Logitech G710+ and my recently bought CM QuickFire XT painted. I talked to my dad who is a mechanic and he suggested we give the plastic from the boards to the body shop - and we did exactly that.
Before doing so, I had the liberty to go online and get the exact colour codes for the keyboards. I thus did so, in order to give the body shop an easier life.

The results are quite spectacular - pictures don't do it justice really - as the yellow and orange colours come off saturated - when as in real life they're literally like they came off a Lamborghini (as the colours chosen are Lambo colours).

I went for yellow for my home G710+ keyboard and orange for my CM XT work keyboard. Both look and feel sensational. Couldn't be happier.

Here's a video of both of these beauties:

Those boards look spectacular! Thank you for all the photos in the video. Really, truly, an amazing job.

Very cool that you had the opportunity to get it for free. However, I'm sorry to learn that it would be very expensive for the average person to have similar work done. So jelly!

Pleasure buddy!
I would do a "spoiler" type thing where you could expand the OP - but for some reason when I hit the spoiler thing on GH it doesn't work :(
Indeed it is a shame, but it is to be expexcted when it is a paint code/job that has pearl in it and has 3 layers of paint on it!

Nice boards. I wonder when rowdy will see this hehe

Who is rowdy bro?

What do you think crosses my mind each time I wake up...I'm like Gabriel Inglesias and going oooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh :D!!!!!!!!

Omg, thats nice. Nothing beats a shop painted piece with auto paints for a quality finish!! Very jelly indeed. Definitely yellow approved :thumb:

There are a few members here to have an affinity for all things yellow ;)

Can never have too much.

haha! Well this wasn't painted by me - although I wanted to do it, I left it to the car body shop lads to do it!
My dad saw the keyboards and thought...maybe he should give his motorcycle (Honda Hornet c600) to them too :p

Indeed - I did think of doing it myself - sanding etc -but my dad said: "Why do that, when we could give it to the body shop for them to do it properly AND get the exact colour"
The colour of both can't be bought from a local shop - at least not the exact ones

I do love the yellow - it is by far my favourite colour for anything - and so is that electric orange - so when I thought of getting it painted I didn't even have to think twice about the colours.
I googl'ed the colours and got their colour codes immediately :D

Next up is sticking "Totally Dubbed" via stickers on the right hand side of the wrist rest.
Then possibly also SV (For the Diablo SV) on the sides

EDIT:
MOAR pics of the yellow lambo :D

That is an awesome finish. So shiny!

Now all you need is to acquire a bumblebee set for one of them :)

Well, IMO, it's a lot of money to spend on a keyboard with MX brown switches, and pad-printed ABS caps.  I think I would've started with some keycaps.  But, with that said, I do like the orange one.

I've actually already got it from Keypop for review - but don't like it with the colour :)
I might do a giveaway for you guys and OCN for the whole bumblebee set (worth around $85)

See here my review:

A lot of money? It was free mate :)
I tried keycaps, and liked them - then tried key covers and LOVED them. But this...this takes it to another level for me!
I personally love the feel of MX Browns.

Try using this code instead then:

rowdy (http://geekhack.org/index.php?action=profile;u=20009) is a user on GH who loves yellow something fierce.

Most excellent - I have updated the OP - much nicer and organised :)!

I see - then I guess he'll love it :D

That's an awesome job, I love the orange one! You're lucky, that paintjob would cost more than the keyboard itself I think.
