[IC] GMK Confetti Cake

GMK Confetti Cake

Introducing GMK Confetti Cake, a keycap set inspired by everyone's favorite birthday cake.

This set will use GMK's new mixed-color material processes to replicate the sprinkles that are mixed into the cake batter.

Disclaimer: I am still researching the limits of this process to determine if this effect is achievable.

Something different from gmk, this set probably not my cup of tea but still nice to see.

these renders make me uncomfortable. I have my doubts the actual product will turn out like that

Have you prototyped via render how this'd look with a few shades of pink instead of electric blue? We don't see pink done well often enough in this hobby and it's also a colour that often shows up in birthday cakes, etc.

IMO, the blue is somehow both too low-contrast but also unpleasant on the eyes to me. I could be alone in this but that's my feeling.

Thanks for UK in base!

No offense, but why even do the IC now if you are not sure the effect can be achieved? I think that's a pretty important point for someone to be interested in this.

Surely noones favorite cake is confetti cake. I mean it's just a gimmick cake isn't it? This whole IC is a lie.

I literally can't think of any cake I'd rank below confetti cake. Perhaps marzipan, because I don't really like it - but I respect it more as a cake concept than confetti. I think marzipan based cakes should have a place on the table, they're not just for me.

It would probably look like DUNE, right? But colored sprinkles and cake colored base. I think it could look really good.

I highly suggest to get in touch with a vendor that is interessted so GMK can produce a sample for this colorway with this special effect to see how good it will look irl.
I took a sample for N9 green with the cinnamon effect and it looked absolutley horrible and could luckily avoid running it.

The biggest challenge for the new Special Effects is also the viewing distance. Many effects like "Cinnamon", "Schliere" and "Flitter" are not easy to see from the normal typing distance and the risk is that it will just look like dirt and dusk

Thanks! I appreciate your feedback. I have been talking to GMK, and they are working on getting the necessary materials to produce a sample. The renders will be updated to match before the set moves forward. I have started reaching out to vendors and hope to have more news soon.

I agree that avoiding the dusty keycaps issue is the biggest challenge with these new effects.

Not super crazy over the teal blue legends...

Definitely consider mixing up the legend colours like what was done on Mictlan. Then it would be truly a confetti cake set.
