mount switches on a curve

besides 3d printing, has anyone tried more conventional ways of achieving a dactyl/kinesys type of surface for mounting the switches?

I'm thinking heavy gauge manually bent wire + glued in switches might be a way to do it, or multiple laser-cut and then manually bent plates for each column.

anyone tried anything like this before?

thank you, somehow I missed that project.

one thing that's interesting about that design is that the individual parts might be small enough to be stamped out and machine bent, to keep costs really low, but I doubt there's a big enough demand.

I don't know what I'll end up with (if anything) but that sort of design sure helps prototyping.
