Possible Vintage MX black boards
« on: Tue, 07 April 2020, 10:28:28 »
Was browsing ebay to see what vintage KBs was on there & came across these, https://www.ebay.com/itm/UCS-ANSI-Keyboard-Terminal-Version-2-0/362623517504?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225074%26meid%3D9b5b439462914b69b9d58a7dd8c4b2d9%26pid%3D100227%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D13%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D362623517504%26itm%3D362623517504%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2053904&_trksid=p2053904.c100227.m3827, UCS ANSI Keyboard Version 2.0 terminal boards with MX blacks in them. Can't find much info on them to confirm if they got vint blacks or not, but they seem to be NOS open box items & they are from Mendelsons (same place that had all the NOS Pingmasters). For the price it might be worth a shot at grabbing one & harvesting the switches, they could end up being from a good batch even if they aren't vintage. I was gonna grab one to see what's up with the switches, but I came across a decently clean looking Zenith 163-73 with SKCL Yellows in it that I ended up grabbing. Figured I'd still post these though in case anyone would be interested!

Yeah, I've looked at these on Mendelsons site when I bought my pingmaster

Seems like I remember having a discussion about it somewhere but I can't find it.  I think the consensus was they would be scratchy.  Doesn't seem worth it for  $49, but the caps are kinda funky cool.

Yeah I was a little worried about how the switches would be, that's what made me preface the header with possible in it. Looks like that was a good ideal hearing this. Thanks for the heads up in case anyone else runs across this post as there is still some of them available!
