I remember reading an article that outlined some scientific research about why cilantro tasted like soap to a small percentage of the population.

can confirm, I had a friend who always said the pizza tasted like dishwashing liquid when there was any cilantro on it...

I like it, however it need cooking know-how to use it blissfully

Cilantro is a different language/name for it...

in my country it's coriander ("langer Koriander" to be more exact) too ;)

Cilantro is the Spanish word for coriander.

Cilantro refers to the leave of the of the coriander plant. So in the US when you are talking about the leaves you say Cilantro but when talking about the dried seeds we call them Coriander.
