It's true. His only update was a non-update that held no meaningful information.

No information to go on, people like swimmingbird early in the thread saying it's a given that it'll be here by 2015 still saying they will show soon. It's 1/4 the way through 2016 now. Waiting is fine. Waiting for a meaningful update should not be this ridiculous. Defending this kind of non-action makes even less sense to me.

Ivan, did you hurt yourself again? Take a vow of silence? Still choosing your next profile pic? What possible reason do you have for not giving us a two sentence update like 'Is in production. Shut up now' or 'Sorting them out. Sending soon'? I feel like these are basic things and easy to type out on your way to work or before logging off to go to bed :/ I work full time and fence. Busy schedule. Still have time to type quick things out.

EDIT: I should probably be nicer but honestly I just feel like whipped dog waiting for scraps of information as handout or something.

Don't worry about it man, that is the nature of GH. In every single group buy of Ivan's that I've joined he's been terrible at communicating, and people have always been saying things like "don't worry caps will come" etc. They also use the argument that "Ivan will update when there is new info!" which he obviously does not but I let them have their delusions.

Hey guys. I havent said anything in regards to this groupbuy since a lot of members have stated that Ivan is a trusted member so automatically, I believed in him. However, I need to ask given the situation with his previous groupbuys going crazy, has anyone got in contact with Imsto to atleast confirm that the payment has been made for this keycap set?

I can't believe this happened. I know that all group buys have a risk but everyone said we could trust Ivan. This is my first and last group buy on GeekHack. I can't express my disappointment. I make 14k a year and spending $60 on a keyset is not trivial for me. We really got boned...

It be great to get some input from the Mods, maybe HoffmanMyster? Is there any positive confirmation that this buy is boned other than the lack of order for Miami Nights?

I reached out to Ivan last night when things started getting shaky (before the news was posted in the GMK buy thread), to A) verify he is alive and well and B) follow up with a direct inquiry as to the status of these three buys.  I did receive an email back from him last night (I mistakenly said in the GMK buy that he had not responded, which is not true - I didn't see his response at the time) and he said all is fine but he is not active much (I had not asked about the buys at this point).  I have responded asking very pointedly for an update re: lack of orders placed.  No word yet, but I will update as I can.

Has Ivan lost his global mod?

my guess is GH is trying to distanced themselves from this. which is understandable as being a GH mod has nothing to do with what is happening.

This is really just the last straw for us.  Mods need to be active or we will de-mod them.  We've done it before with other mods that were not involved in such incidents and were simply inactive.  If this whole fraud ordeal is truly what's happening and not a misunderstanding, we would have de-modded him, yes.  But not in any way to cover things up - simply because it's what would need to be done at that time.

Hope this helps clear things up on our end.  I will be making a more formal post when I have a bit more time to devote to it.

I think it's a good idea to make it necessary for the GB leader to provide a proof or a receipt directly from the manufacturer as a validation on every GB.

For whatever reason Ivan is in need of this amount of money I hope he is doing ok, wouldn't have minded paying extra for this GB to go through but oh well, can't really get angry over lost $ anymore  :p

over the last 2 years I've been extremely unlucky with my online purchases, items being shipped to somewhere else, crazy UPS brokerage fee, forgetting to transfer from saving to chequing (lol) and get charged ridiculously, got my steam account hijacked... learned it the hard way, but just don't get too attached to physical matters and cash  :thumb: if it's gone then just let it go and move on.. probably gonna take a break from GBs tho

I've supported Ivan throughout this entire thread, but if the caps were sent to him a month ago, and he's not yet posted any updates, then that's some bulls**t. It takes a couple of minutes to post an update, and there's been nothing. I paid for two sets a year ago and was really looking forward to the Aurabesh set.

Fuuuuuu

I've always had great luck here on GH with the Classifieds and group buys, but I guess there's a first time for everything :(

Since you helped him sort his past GB, can't you visit his house? On assumption that you know him well enough in real life, that is.

In theory, yes. However, it has been over 1.5 years since I've been there so I can't confidently know he hasn't moved. He also lives in a complex so I wouldn't have access to his actual front door. Also, it's a 9 hour drive that I am not prepared to make with no hope of results. There are at least three geekhackers that are much closer (within an hour).

Holy moly for the update. Guess that means I can't sell my set/spot in this damn Groupbuy if this is the current status. Better luck next time I guess.

Note to self: don't participate in future group buys if it's this much hassle to see the end product. Faith and trust over the Internet to "one" individual is blasphemous.

Hey guys, I'm a receiver of two sister group buys.  I'm guessing Ivan is sorting your GB and will be sending it out next.  PBT4 is done, yours was made, Miami Nights was not ordered.  I hope we get some confirmation, but this _is_ status quo for this leader.

I don't know why you've suddenly jumped to the defense of Ivan

Sure I can get things taking a long time to post but there is literally no reason for him not to order Miami Nights

Wait... Ivan already has the finished keys and hasn't paid IMSTO? That's ****ed!

I previously thought Ivan had unfinished caps and simply hadn't sent them to IMSTO yet. After reading the post again, this version makes more sense.

I think it seems strange that he would have the keys and not ship them out. It would need a lot less explaining if he had taken the money, but why have all the keys and not ship them out? What are you going to do with all those keys?
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

It costs money to ship out keys.

If someone as trusted as Ivan was pushed into stealing the money to get out of a sticky situation, then I don't think it's too far a stretch to think that he doesn't want to spend one more dime on these GB's. He even told people to stop trying to stop opening PayPal disputes. It doesn't excuse him one bit, but he's obviously in a situation where he has to keep every dollar he can get his hands on.

IF YOU ARE PART OF THIS GROUP BUY PLEASE READ

More than a reasonable amount of time has passed for Ivan to come forward and explain the situation.
I am now putting together as much evidence as I can to present to the relevant authorities.
I am calling on everyone who has participated in an affected Group Buy to forward me their relevant PayPal transaction details so that we have a solid case if the time calls for it.
The more evidence we gather, the better chance we have of this being taken seriously and getting our money back.

Please send the following:
- Paypal invoice from Ivan for relevant GB
- Paypal receipt from relevant GB
- Your contact details, including name, geekhack username, phone number and address [optional]

to
ivanevidence@gmail.com

The more evidence we get the better chance we have of getting our money back.
If any moderator wants to come forward and take sole or shared ownership of this email address for the sake of oversight please PM me.

If any of you are worried about sending me your personal information, please PM me and we can discuss you sending your evidence directly when the time calls for it.

How do you want us to send you the Paypal stuff? Should I save the forms as a PDF and put them as an attachment?

I think a screenshot should be enough.
