Super important last update forever:
1) Tacgnol stands at exactly 50 orders. So $4.70 a key. The good news is though that I can double every one's order of that key for free.
2) Longcat will cost $.46 to double. Comment in the next several hours so we can decide to proceed with this or not.
3) Everything else looks good. I'll have invoice stuff ready by tonight

I will extend this group buy till Sunday March 4. I will stop taking orders/changes at 11:59pm US central time. I figured there's no point in ending it on Friday since I won't be able to get the invoice from SP till the next business day so I can slap in their shipping fees and such.

Tacgnol has been added to this groupbuy. If you've already submitted an order send me another pm titled "Meme gb order change". Its not necessary to re-list everything you want, just tell me "I want to add this" or "remove this" etc.
Note that this new key will follow the same pricing as longcat and will also include a new $45 legend fee which will be spread across all orders of the key

Most of these keys have to be dye-sublimated instead of double-shot because they are too complex for the cutter that is used to make the keys for the double-shot keys. The dye-sublimated keys will be on white PBT keys. The only key that will work with double-shot is the longcat which will be on ABS. All keys except longcat will be row 1, 1x keys meaning they’re meant to replace the top 2 rows on keyboards.

All Tsangan's GB demonstrates is the pathetic lack of interest anyone has in keycaps unless they're absurdly cheap because somebody commits several hundred dollars to buy up keys.
In fact that's basically the same thing that demik is complaining about.
My favorite thing about tsangan's GB is that the commitment to buy up to 250 keys wasn't even needed (ultimately, though it did encourage buys). Thus proving demik's point.

I'm not sure how detailed the dye-sub can be, so maybe it needs to be "dumbed down" a bit, but it'd be nice to get some of the more prominent features accurate (e.g. the mustache, the eyebrows, the nose, etc), though there does seem to be some disparity here, I do like the more angular mustache on this one.

That V for Vendetta style Guy Fawkes mask is actually a design that Warner Brothers owns all licensing to. Best to avoid copying it. Besides, I like the key we have and it's a lot closer to more classic Guy Fawkes masks.
That said, Successful Troll is missing his nose.
I gather this all has to do with complexity of the legend and I like the keys we have.

Well SP doesn't have a problem with our current design, so unless there's an overwhelming consensus to change it I think its best we keep it the same.

I'm not familiar with they dyesubs. I only have seen the outcome with nyancat. And I'll let you know, it's not very accurate. Nyancat was drawn with like same width "Pixel" lines; Some came out ok, some came out smaller, some got bigger.

In theory we're sitting at $4.70 for 1 long cat key..with 50 + something orders. In reality though if we were to stop now and collect money it wouldn't cost that much because its actually the same price to buy 200 keys instead of 54....because of sp's messed up price tier. So I wouldn't charge you guys almost 5 a key.

If longcat hits 75 orders you might as well just double up everyone's order and it'll only cost 12 cents more per longcat. E.g if they ordered 2 longcats at $2.74 each = $5.48 and you force them to double up to 4 longcats it'll cost them $5.72 which is 24 cents more, basically nothing, and then everyone can then order more for cheap and the people who paid 24 cents extra could probably even make money by selling them later.

I have no problem with throwing up an image. But this is up to Bavman to decide. But In my opinion, it isn't smart to throw in a new key in the middle of the GB. It's time it gets being shown is shorter compared with the others as well as well as it may add a bit more work into the GB. There was a stage for new keys and it was in the IC, those get done for a reason.

Yea, I understand that adding one in the middle of a group buy is rough, it's just that it's essentially a variant of an existing one and it's not likely that people would want a tacgnol without a longcat, so putting it in a future group buy would probably be worse.

I think the main thing is updating everyone to the fact there is a new addition to the GB. It also didn't have the interest built up.

Yea, I had thought of that, but for the doppelganger to be useful it would really have to face the other way so that longcat and tacgnol can have their epic battle! We're already paying a fee for each of the other keys, so paying a fee for one more is nothing new.

Oh right, it's not a two stem key, it's a one with stabilizer, silly me. Here I was thinking you could put it over any set of two adjacent switches.
Yea, numpad + and numpad enter would probably be cool for most people, but I was hoping for Kinesis face to face cat showdown rather than numpad-I-don't-even-have-on-keyboards-I-use stacking time. :(

I'm having second thoughts about adding tacgnol because theres a divide of people who want it to say on enter key profile because it'll match in their kinesis' while others want it for number pad + instead of enter and they'll be able to have both on the numberpad

Yeah, it kinda looks like we wont get enough orders for it. I was just planning to buy it because I'm in a double shot key collection mood. Not that I have a kinesis. If it reaches 50, I'm down for 2, if it reaches 75, I'll be down for 4.

Yup thats correct. those are the only 2 keys that had simple enough detail to be doubleshot. everything else is sharp for the cutter so it has to be done by dye-sub

Really hoping we have enough interest in Tacgnol (I know I'm not contributing much :S). Just want it to match the white ^^

I see tacgnol and longcat as mostly an either-or for traditional numpads: you get the one that matches the color of the rest of your numpad keys, otherwise having them stacked as + and enter would be kind of odd looking because one of them would stand out pretty bad compared to the rest of the numpad.
If you've got one keyboard with white keycaps and another with black keycaps, which are the two most common colors so not something that unlikely, then you get both, one for each and if you put the two keyboards side by side they'd be facing each other.
If you have a kinesis you can achieve the same with one keyboard and in my case I'd be making the entire left half of the keyboard white and the right half black. :)

Well the problem is that it really depends what people are trying to do with them. Since I'm buying both, I wouldn't mind them both being grey background but most people either have white or black keyboards/keycap sets and would probably rather have the one that matches, or will only buy longcat because they don't really care about tacgnol, which is a meme inside a meme. If they are just getting one of the two, then it makes more sense for them to both be enter, since only having a + would be odd probably.
The wacko keyboard Kinesis people like myself is the reason that I had first suggested the tacgnol, because I have two numpad enters that are facing each other, which is what the famous longcat/tacgnol meme picture is about. If you've got a normal numpad, buying both to stack them on top of each other kind of defeats the purpose of the meme, and it's better that you just get the one that suits your color scheme best, or get them for two separate keyboards, since most of us have a bunch anyways.
Also, for the wacko keyboards, the numpad enters are space and backspace, which are two really common keys, so there is no way in hell I'd be able to deal with them being off profile whereas for people using it on a numpad, having numpad + a little off is much less of a problem.

Are we doubling longcat orders? Right now if we get to 80 longcats it cost 219.20 at that price, but 160 is only 228.80 at the 150 price break. So to get an extra 80 caps, it's only 9.60.

Assuming your numbers are right, I hope so as well. This is one of the things that I think that group buys haven't been taking enough advantage of. It forces everyone to pay a few cents more, but it encourages more people to buy and then if those people cause us to hit another price break the people who paid a few cents more actually end up spending less AND getting some free keys. Of course the issue is forcing everyone to pay those few extra cents, but in this case 9.60/80 is a measly 12 cents extra per key ordered before the double up. Basically if I double everyone orders that results in more keys for everybody but your still paying the same price. So price wont really change form $4.70 (50 orders)...but you'll get 2 or 3 keys instead of 1. might be a couple cents different

I also might not share the full discount, and that's because I'm not making any money for the actual group buy. 1) 5 days left before I close this GB and send a email to Mellisa for a final quote so we can begin collecting money
2) We're sitting at 29 "tacgnol" keys right now. Unless someone bails us out by buying 31 keys it'll probably get dropped tomorrow. In the even that it does get dropped, I'll pm everyone who had ordered on so they can adjust their order accordingly if they want. If you guys want to keep it at ~30 keys it'll probably be $6-7 a key, I'd have to check.
3) How would you guys feel about a spreadsheet that I upload publicly for everyone to see that would include: usernames, break down of what you ordered + cutting fees + shipping cost, and how much you owe me for the final bill? The point would be to save me some time next week (since I have a couple tests) so I don't have to send everyone individual pm's stating their total. Then you can just send me the money to my paypal. No personal information would be shared in the file (email/address/etc).

Updated. Also concerning the doubling of longcat: i've gotten several orders recently and we're almost at 100. If we double at 100 to 200 then the extra long cat key will be .46c instead of the original .12c I had mentioned.
The reason for this is because we were sitting at ~75 longcat and the difference between jumping from 75 to 150 was $9...but from 100 to 200 is $46.

The problem is that we'd need 100 more keys, not 50. If we add 100 (1 to each other) its actually .81c more.
Right now long cat is at 75+ so if we order 150 and double everyone's order, it'll cost .46c extra not .13 anymore.

I didn't include the legend fee before (but after calculating it with it, it makes no difference), but lets add that in to be precise. This is assuming both hit 100. In the case of Tacgnol, it's actually cheaper for us to double it to 100 if it hits 50.
100 * 2.08 + 45 = $253.00
150 * 1.43 + 45 = $259.50
259.5 - 253 = $6.50
6.50 / 50 = $0.13 per extra key.

There's bound to be leftovers, so you could always wait and see when those pop up.

I dislike soccer for various reasons.
But the diving players do just make it so bad. They're all men, but for some reason a tap on the foot results in a guy grabbing is face in pain.
Also I absolutely don't understand they can't review goals. Lol at england losing to germany (iirc) and having a disallowed goal that was legitimately put 10 ft into the goal. "It disrupts gameplay" was the reason. As if the guy grabbing his face for 2 minutes doesn't. As if the ball going out every minute and then requiring 20 seconds to just put it back into play.
Any sport comes with bad sportsmanship and bad fans tho.

Update:
Melissa just emailed me saying that they are low on the green we requested for successful troll and they won't have enough to run all the keys we ordered. So we have 2 choices.
1) We wait until they get some in (late April) and production can continue on those keys. This mean you won't be getting any keys until mid May at best.
2) She said they had a slightly darker green we can dye. It not on the color ring because it was molded from Omni-color (I'll attach the PDF). Down bellow I've attached part of the color ring which shows our original color choice (VCR). The 2nd picture shows VCR (left) next to the darker color they have and would be able to produce immediately. Finally I'll link to the Omni-color PDF that shows the green that SP has in stock right now. The color can be found on page 4 and is called "Leaf green".
Please voice your opinion so we can decide soon. Thank you :)

My two keys vote for going with the new color. In the side by side shot it looks closer to the VCR in the color ring pic anyway. VCD might work as well but its a little evergreeny.

I went ahead and email Melissa to use the leaf green instead and she said there was one order in front of us so this gb will start production next week and and should be done soon. We'll also have pictures of all the keys by next week sometime.

I think it's the angle. The perspective of the mask key is from the right side. Most of the white you see in the picture is the side of the key, right?

Tacgnol hadn't been made yet, but it'll be just the inverse image of longcat with inverse colors. I think its just the perspective that makes the mask look off center but ill double check with Melissa.

If they don't prototype the tacgnol, make sure that Melissa knows that it's suppose to be facing the other way (compared to the longcat) and that we didn't just make a mistake when sending it to her.

Just a little update. All domestic and international bubble mailers have been packed and ready to drop off at the post office tomorrow. I ordered a bunch of flat rate boxes but they still havent shown up yet, so if the post office doesn't have all the boxes I need then flat rate boxes might come a day or 2 late. I'll probably drive around town to hunt some down. I'll also be throwing up a few leftovers I have in classifieds in the next couple days.

A quick question. (edit: a few quick questions)
I only bought anon suits, but I assume it's the same for all the row 1 stuff.
The profile of the keys are different than to the stock filco keys. I had a look at what I think is signature plastic's page (http://www.keycapsdirect.com/faq.php) and they mention some different available profiles (SA, SS, DSA, DSS, DCS, LP, KT).
Which profile are these keys?
Is this a default profile that all group buys on geekhack from SP are?
Is it possible / will it be easy to get a matching profile set for the rest of a poker?
Is there only one white color from SP / which white is the Anon suit?

Most of the orders we get from SP are DCS profile. They tend to be a bit shorter than Filco/Rosewill/imsto caps.
Your best bet is to get a full set of SP caps so they blend right in.
SP has a ton of white colors which makes matching a nightmare. This is part of the reason I prefer black keys.

I'm not sure talking to USPS would be much help since its international first class and therefor untracked/uninsured.
But it seems that the 3 people who posted saying they havent gotten their stuff yet are all from german...so is it possible you guys have crappy customs like us?

You can't get tracking on international orders through usps unless its priority. I shipped them out through stamps.com which provided a weird tracking number and the only thing it says for international orders is it that it was received by the post office and processed for shipping. I didn't know they would do that, but I'll go head and give them a call and see what they can do. I'm not sure if they would be able to do much is the package is out of the county. Maybe you guys can help out by calling german customs and seeing if they might have your packages still? I'll let you know how it goes

Guys I forgot to tell you I spoke to usps the other day and they told me there no real way of tracking international orders unless its registered mail. The lady told me that it could be stuck in us customs and/or Germany customs. So theres not much we can do unfortunately.
If nothing shows up for anyone any time soon I can package all of them together (I think i have enough from left overs) and send it to just one person with registration since it'll be around $30 or more to just register one package to Germany. Then we can get something worked out on how to ship it out from then.
