Awesome that KBD ordered so many. The 50 tier is so much cheaper that even if the people who ordered grey sets split the cost of the extra 6 sets to make it to 50, it will still be cheaper than SP's illogical pricing (It works out to $21.41 per set to divide the cost of 50 sets across 44 orders). Maybe hash will pay for a few of those and make it even cheaper!

The OP and second post have been updated with the most current information. Dropping the two diamond keys and the Caps Locks for the Cherry replica and CCnG sets split the production tiers and brought them down a little bit.

As you can see, we are close to crossing a couple of tier thresholds.

So ... we have a bit of a problem. This buy turned out much bigger than I anticipated. I didn't think that collecting for this would be a problem, but now having gone over my Paypal records I'm afraid that collecting the money for the geekhack orders will put my account uncomfortably close to the $20K limit. If I cross that I could end up having to pay taxes on all that money as income.

I think we have two options. Either someone else collects the money and pays SP, or we wait until January when the yearly limit resets and I can collect. I can still do all the packing and shipping, regardless.

I apologize for this hassle, guys. I expected to be able to handle the payments, but this thing turned out way bigger and awesomer than I had imagined.

Ok folks, I've been over all the numbers and finalized everything. Here's where we ended up:

As you can see, I've rounded up the costs to make round numbers. This is to help cover a few extra sets of each in case of damage, mail loss, etc.

The only set in a real profitable buy-up situation is the RA grey set, which is near a large price break at 50 units. So I'm ordering 50 of them and using some of the savings to help with extras of the other sets. The rest of the savings is being used to reduce the price of the RA grey set, even though we didn't actually make it to 50 units. So instead of the production cost of $25.92 per set, I am charging $21 per set.

We ended up with 74 geekhack orders, plus an as-yet undetermined number of orders from kbdmania (need to get the number from Taeyoung still). This puts the materials fee (covering shipping from SP to me, the Cherry Fn legend, and shipping supplies), in the $1-$1.50 range, per order.

As per usual, Paypal seller fees will also be added to each order. I believe we may also need to add a small amount to cover currency conversion since Taeyoung is doing the collection with his South Korean Paypal account. Not sure about this yet.

I'll be working with Taeyoung to get the final details straightened out. Continue to expect invoices real soon now.
