For those of you GeekHackers from Australia... PC Case Gear has the 700's for preorder on their website.  Price tag of A$120 before delivery... Just about what I was expecting it to be.  Just preordered the Graphite colour board wtih Cherry Browns.  Was tempted to order the white version but since I'm already verging on OCD with my board care, I don't think I should add keeping a board flawlessly white to the list...  :)

They recieved their samples a few days ago.  Talk to the guy at PCCG about it and he had mention how solid the keycaps felt.  Looking forward to it.

i'm not sure they would do that. have they released key caps separately for other boards like the 300R?

If you have no interest in the board, why do you have so much interest in the caps? Can't you just buy caps that fit what you want instead of asking for something that seems like an odd move from a keyboard company that wants to promote one of their new products? Seriously, if they're gonna advertise PBT caps as a feature of the board, why would they take that feature and sell it as a separate product? Pretty sure they'd rather people buy the whole keyboard.

Anyway, has anyone managed to find some info on when these will be available in the US? Or knows of someone in Korea who would be willing to do a deal (seeing as how the website only ships to South Korean adresses apparently)?

Simple.  KBC won't manufacture blank black PBT's unless its a huge order (500 sets to be precise.)

Since Leopolds have come with Otaku keycaps and that Brian has hinted for the last year of bringing out keycap sets I thought it could be a strong possibility they could exist.
what are you gonna do about the keycaps with led-holes

Well I'm hoping so... The online retailer I've preordered from recieved their samples earlier in the week and I asked the guy about it over the phone and he said it the keycaps felt very solid.  A definitely improvement from the 200's...  The purist here will scoff at the inclusion of media fn keys but that really being nitpicky.  One nice little touch they are including with the board is a silicon dust cover for the board... a lot of people including myself use the plastic cover that comes with certain boards (Ducky, Filco) as a dust cover so it's nice that Leopold did that... not a major buying factor by any means but still nice.  I guess I would've prefered if they went with a Costar stabiliser rather than sticking with the Cherry style but it's nothing I can't get over.  Looks like Elitekeyboards discounting the 200's... but really it's not that great a price drop.  Wait for the 700's I reckon.

Edit: Oh speaking of dust covers... Does anyone know where the heck I can get a cover to fit my Topre 87U???  I've been searching around and no one has PC dust covers anymore... Doesn't have to be fitted... just want one that isn't the plastic wrap that the Topre came with....

I'm not seeing that EK has stock... am I missing something?  Funny thing is that it seems we Aussie's tend to be able to get stuff like this a lot easier than our US and Europe counterparts...  It's probably really only due to guys like MechKeyboards and PCCG... I think if it wasn't for those guys we'd have to import ourselves which would cost us an arm and a testicle.

Yeah was thinking about the white but ended up going for the graphite.  Too hard to maintain the whiteness I reckon... If I had a Mac then I'd probably go the white... I do wonder if it'll turn a little yellow over the years...

Can anyone confirm his stock or email? I'm feeling lazy :D

Unless they've changed their minds, I think Ripster has successfully trolled y'all. (Well played.)
The EK guy is probably getting pretty sick of emails asking about the 700Rs by now.

I have also heard that its normal practice for them to not give out any info prior to getting new stock. Seems like an odd coincidence that they have been having many of the current Leo's on sale. Who knows.

I wonder whether or not the EK guy has a standard "No current plans to get stock of FC700R" reply yet, or if he's still doing them individually.

So here's the reason I'm reviving this somewhat dated post. The parentals are going to Korea in a week and offered to get me something for when they come back. For a guy who already has a CM Storm QFire (blues) and has a KBT Race (reds) on the way, should I bother asking them to get me one in reds? If I do get one I suppose I can try it out and see if I like it or not and then pass it onto another GHer if needed. I feel like this is just a F200 with PBT caps...

It would seem silly to me not to carry them.  The FC700R looks like an attractive upgrade to the FC200R.  I seriously want one of each color; black with Blues, white with Reds and Grey with Browns.  :peace:

Nothing really. Lol. I'm just not that big on media keys and I think if you got an F200 for like $70 on here and then bought some PBT keys from qtan or something it would come out to be cheaper. Seeing as its like 127000WON (~$112.50USD) or so in Korea, I'm estimating that having them brought over to the states and getting the markup for profit by EK would be an extra $20 or so.

But then again, the F200s sell for like $87USD in Korea, which isn't that much of a price discrepancy from what EK sells em for so I could be wrong. Seeing as I haven't tried PBT caps yet either puts me in a biased position of cost vs. value lol.

PBT are da bomb. Texture feels better, they feel heavier and they obviously don't wear as fast.

But if that's the only reason..you might as well buy something like a CM Storm Quickfire. Has all of the above. Cheaper than both Leopold and Filco.

I would agree with this argument, but this is like a product that isn't really competing anymore. For the price you might as well buy that Corvette which is cheaper and has a lot more to it. (TRANSLATED: Buy that CM Storm Quickfire for cheaper and stick on some PBT keycaps from a GB). It's just not ECONOMICALLY desirable I suppose. For me at least. But then again I'd be getting it for free! Which is :3

Not sure if I should have started another thread.

These are meant to be available in Australia before the end of the month. I heard there were lettering wear issues which caused delays.

If they take much longer though Filco ninja TKL with mx browns is available still.
