THIS TOUR IS NOW LIVE, SIGN UP!

If you want to see the old OP, just hit the more button! ^__^

I'm starting a tour so that people can try out different keycap materials and switches. If you want to try mounted MX switches, go sign up for Hashbaz's Universal Switch Tester. The Mr. Interface Switch Try Bag has these switches as well as a MX Ghetto Green that tjcaustin is making for me (THANKS BRO :D). The tour also has the following caps:

* Thin ABS (Thanks for the donation from Lastpilot!)
* Thick ABS or Cherry Doubleshots (Thanks for the donation Mashby!)
* Thin PBT (Thanks for the donation Mashby!)
* Thick PBT (Thanks for the donation from Lastpilot!)
* 2 Tipro relegendables (Thanks for the donation The_Beast!)
* Zinc Cap (Thanks unnamed friend!)
* Wario PBT Doubleshot
* Thin ABS in DSA profile (Thanks for the donation ray4jc!)
* 4 POM Caps (Thanks for the donation Takaki!)
* 4 Thin DSA caps (Thanks for the donation ray4jc!)
Details can be found here.

This tour will be starting in June 2013. I am hoping to get 5-10 people interested in the tour. Shipping work the same as Akimbo's previous/current tours. Shipping will be in the form of a USPS Small Flat Rate Box, which costs $5.85 to mail.

The Tipro is from The_Beast. Thanks so much to everyone who donated!

MoreSo I've seen switch testers floating around GH. Hashbaz has one and Mr. Interface on DT has a whole subforum on them. Switches define how a board might feel and decide whether or not you buy.

But I think there's another keyboard element that is missing: The keycaps. How many times have you seen the debates on whether or not Signature Plastics' doubleshot ABS caps measure up to the Cherry doubleshots. Or how Imsto's thick PBTs are better than normal PBT caps. Maybe you want to try and PBT or POM cap but don't feel like paying money for something you're unsure about. Maybe it seems silly to buy a SINGLE cap just to try a new material out. Ever want to see how "Cherry-like" SP's caps really are?

I guess my point is, if we have switch testers, maybe we can send around a cap tester. We could help answer all these questions.

We could mount a bunch of different caps on a tenkeypad, board, or maybe even these. I'm talking like POM, PBT, ABS, Zinc, and anything else I'm missing. And then maybe stepped caps locks, scoops, nips, center dots, scoops/nips as well.

I apologize if this is a bit wordy, I like to write lol. But would anyone want to sign up for this?

I would definitely be interested in this.

It would seem that we could send a bag with alpha keys and spacebar of each set type and a key puller so that people could try them out on their own board. Package should be lighter than a whole keyboard, so it should make shipping easier.

1. WASD Keys
2. SP Double Shots
3. IMSTO PBT Thick
4. Original Cherry Double Shots
5. GMK Double Shots

Any other series that should be included?

hashbaz:
This is a cool idea.  I can probably rustle up some spare SP, WASD, and Cherry caps.
