Title: Yellow second generation SMK?
Post by: Applet on Wed, 12 June 2019, 06:35:02
Hi,

I'm building a linear SMK board just for fun, so I've been looking around for SMK switches (and bought), but today I found these yellow switches:

I can't seem to find any info on them. Do anyone here know?

EDIT:
Probably just the colors that's way off in the picture, and they are really orange?

The opposite; they are orange and appear bleached. They're linears (quite nice).

It takes a bit more time than other switches to get them open and back together, but I HIGHLY recommend lubing the stems and housings with 3204 trybosis.  Makes the switch feel phenomenally better.  I lubed the springs as well with 1514 oil.

Cool, I'll take the time to lube them then. Anything specific I should think about when lubing a SMK switch? (or specific spot)

I did a very light coating on all of the stem. You’ll see the corners on the stem slider when you get it apart.  That’s what I focused on making sure to get.

Mine came factory-lubed (rather generously); did yours not? Oo

Unfortunately mine were dry as a bone!  They were fairly terrible unlubed.

Mine were the normal red-orange linears and not this lighter color.  Maybe these all come lubed.  I hope so for your sake. You’ll definitely know by trying them out.  Mine were scratchier than cherry reds when I got them

The ones I bought was actually the deep “normal” orange. I’ll update regarding smoothness stock when I get them.

Got my NOS orange SMK today. Very smooth, so most likely factory lubed. Do not think I will bother to open them and lube, they are really good stock.
