I was told 2 months estimated time of shipping, but that was what I was told for Orion, so just FYI.

I wasn't around for the Orion, did that one take a long time? Very stoked for this one.

For time reference took me about 8 months for me to get my Orion and I was in the first 30 batch too  :p

#26 this time!

Missed V1... Missed Orion V2... Now missing Octagon V2 T.T

I don't think you're missing it completely though, just the first round of 30. For the Orion the first 30 people (minus a couple due to the acrylic bottom problems) got it ~2 months before the rest shipped out.

Tea is the cheapest hobby I participate in with audio / photography being on the upper end.

I remember when I sold my W3000anv when I first started keyboarding and got a ton of stuff with that money.

However having a girlfriend is easily the most expensive hobby...

Genuinely curious, how is tea a hobby? Am I missing out on something wonderful because I've been a coffee drinker all my life?

You have different grades of tea as well as styles of preparation and just collecting and using teaware.

For example a decent yixing clay teapot will run about $100 and the more hardcore enthusiasts will have 1 for each type of tea they drink due to how it "absorbs" flavor.

Obviously the grades of tea are like getting better coffee beans, better wine, etc.

Then the preparation styles are different for Japanese teas, Chinese, etc.

I wouldn't consider the person that just buys a few boxes of tea a hobbyist though =P

Either tea or coffee can be someone's hobby.
People will develop knowledge of what makes either one taste good through: technique, ingredients, subjectivity

A coffee drinker isn't automatically a coffee hobbyist, just like a keyboard user isn't automatically a keyboard hobbyist; it's all about the enthusiasm to delve deeper and gain knowledge on the subject.

Nope. Having children is. Not only do they suck the money out of your wallet, but they suck the energy from your mind and eyes too.

It all pays off on christmas day, the happy those kids can be over small things is unreal actually.

The flat bottom always includes the more standard feet though, if I am not mistaken.

I would also like to know this. I'm more curious about why I should pick one over the other. My thinking is that the plate is to reduce flex but I highly doubt with this amazing aluminum case we are going to need to worry about too much flex. But why would one pick steel over aluminum?

Endgame? There is no endgame.

Jokes aside, a steel plate will be heavier, more rigid, and louder (in that vibrations travel much more easily through steel). Aluminum is lighter, softer, flexier, but dampens vibrations better. Steel plates are notorious for "pinging", where you hear the "sproing" of the spring after an upstroke. I've never had that issue with an alu or plastic plate.

not quite clear about the PCB image, wondering if it supports HHKB layout?

i.e. split the backspace key and the right shift key.

There is no split spacebar and the right shift is already shortened due to the arrow keys.

Ehh, decisions decisions. I think ordering two of these would leave me with too many Octagonal boards. I might need to just get one, but I really want a red one with a flat acrylic bottom and duck feet, but I also want a silver and grey aluminum bodied one. Uuuugh.

Going with my original idea. Gonna hit it up with GMK SNES whenever that relaunches, and if it fails again, then I'm just going to mod it to use Alps and put on Alpine Winter + blanks / custom plate.

Yep, this'll work. No regrets. :D

Indeed. Maybe in the future, and if not, I'm gonna have to take a drill to it and have someone make up a custom plate. If this had the plastic plate option the Orion had, then I could just modify the plate myself. I could even do it with aluminum, but I'd rather not have to endure doing all that by hand haha when it comes to aluminum.

I just updated the spreadsheet and there are over 70 orders. :O Much more than anticipated. Some are double orders, so I'm not sure if they're mistakes or not.  Let me know....

Any idea as to batch size after the first 30?

Hey sorry if this was answered earlier, but:

Does your top plate allow opening switches without desoldering?
Is there only a winkeyless layout or I can have a winkey bottom row? found a winkey here

And also:

MX PCB + Plate - $72 USD

Means ordering one more set of PCB+plate on top of original order?

And Micro-USB or Mini-USB?
