So after reviewing the keycap, I think this is the key. It's definitely a matte silver-y color, but it's not the glossy we had imagined when looking at a Nike SB Tiffany.

I highly believe this key can be the legend, but we'll try to ask the manufacturer for a double-shot sample.

I just had a talk with GMK last night. I haven't told Jon about this yet, but the sample will take about 4 weeks to produce.

Either we proceed with this or we wait for the sample.

From my experience, I think we waited a long time, and I think we can still wait but this is up to you guys. I think contrast is very important and it may not turn out the finest (e.g. Chronicler). I think it's important to wait for the four weeks. Let me know your thoughts.

I agree with this. I have such high hopes for the set, I would rather get it right than rush... what's 4 more weeks among friends? (Selfishly and personally,) I'm traveling a bunch the rest of the summer and won't be building much up, so let's see the double shot sample and make sure this is the champion set we all want!

After waiting this long, I'd be sort of disappointed if the set didn't turn out to be all that it could. Four weeks to ensure the set lives up to its potential seems worth it to me.

But I would suggest a plan B for you. Plz also make a double shot alpha key sample with darker legend in case the original plan doesn't work out well, if it won't involve too much hassle.

I think the legend contrast is the most delicate and important aspect of this set. Please don't rush into production until we are certain that it will look correct. 16 months vs 18 months is not worth ruining everything.

GMK said they, "ran out of the sample colors for the tiffany blue to do a double-shot."

Not sure if they need more Pantones or what at the moment.
I'll update further on this once I get more info.

Yea not gonna lie, does kinda seem like they don't give a **** about getting this over with at this point, not like the lack of fulfilment is hindering their business at all.

Would like to see action be taken by someone responsible sooner rather than later though, not really keen on becoming part of the hyperfuse round 1 and toxic club, it's not really about being in a hurry any more at this point but rather actually holding a prominent company to their word instead of allowing them to slither their way into pushing us further and further behind every time. That's terrible business practice.

I agree...In late May we were told a sample was going to be made and that it would take 4 weeks. Then we get an update 2 months later with nothing but "They ran out of stuff to make samples."

I've had good experiences with Originative so far so I'm patient but I see so many GMK sets being produced and here we are almost a year after payment and we still haven't even settled on production colors. Can we get more details switch? I'm sure most people in this group buy understand the troubles of a custom set but we would all likely appreciate more detail in the updates if possible. Thanks.

Maybe we can get a bit of an insight of the deal that's been made with GMK. This certainly could become one of the nicest GMK sets in a long time but it is also the biggest concern in my open GB list currently.

- Did GMK receive full payment already? (Didn't check the whole thread for info about this, sorry if this has been answered)

- On what basis is GMK providing these new samples? Are we paying them per sample or are a certain amount of samples included in the agreed price?

- What are we currently waiting for and when was it promised?


August is traditionally a vacation month in Bavaria, don't expect much to happen over at GMK before early September. With the current production queue GMK is having, I am afraid this GB will get delayed forever if we can't come to a conclusion. I guess making these samples does create some effort for GMK and I understand they get tired of making more "free" () samples for a 150 (250??) MOQ GB.

I believe it's a yes for the first question though since Originative stepped in to purchase a lot of the sets to reach MOQ.

As for the last one, "they are sending samples i believe" is what Sherry told me yesterday.

I'm not sure but I think GMK may be working on colors.
When they said they ran out of colors for samples they sent a picture of 2 blue keycaps & 2 gray keycaps.
The blue keycaps looked pretty much the same as the last samples received that we requested to have doubleshot with gray.
The gray keycaps on the other hand looked metallic, like they had some shimmer to them.
They were darker than the previous gray samples & there was no info on them, GMK kinda just sent the picture.
We didn't even request a new gray.

Thanks switch for the update. Maybe with all the increase in business GMK has been receiving as of late smaller orders like this just get lost in the shuffle sometimes. I'll keep waiting because if this set pans out it will look pretty killer.

I think so too.  I dropped because I really wanted the Miami Nights, and I didn't need to spend the additional funds at the time.  But I'm planning to get it at retail when it's out.  Just think there's more of a chance of missing out on Miami Nights than this one.

I have some bad news, but it's actually more good than bad

So the doubleshot samples have landed
The problem is that they've been delivered to the wrong destination.
Brazil rather than USA.

GMK sent the samples to MiTo by mistake, he contacted & notified me about the situation.
He'll be shipping the caps to me on Monday with an ETA of 14-18 days for delivery.

He's supplied a couple pictures for you all, I'll take more detailed shots once they arrive
