Those are super nice I love the top one with the white and blue trim. I don't suppose that blue trim is LED or better yet Neon gas filled is it ?
Love the white and blue
the black+blue and clear are absolutely incredible. it's a pitty they're so costly to cut.
Wow, these are incredibly cool. Do you have the tools to make one for a Leopold TKL? Alternatively, with metal?
You should consider doing a gb for these things, they are nice!
VERY good work lister! Indeed it is a pity that the darn things are so expensive...

can I get one this color?? hideous right, but perfect!
litster is becoming one good keyboard-er
The whiskerBoxer will still probably buy one of your dumb colored cases!
i'm just messing =p
im fine with black/white, white/black.
do you have a set date for this? i just spent a ton of money so im looking to buy towards the end of the month o.O
awesome! bit pricey for me though -- for not much more than that one could probably have a similar design done in aluminum...
yep, acrylic is not that expensive, cutting it is. A sheet of acrylic doesn't make a case.
Damn the lazer cutter.
Yeah, my school had one...spent so much time making random stuff with it. I should invest in one and like cut stuff for you guys. Only if I had money...time to buy the lottery?
I thought the same thing. I probably won't be taking the plunge any time soon, but its worth noting that some of these are less than people spend on their gaming rigs. This company (full spectrum lasers) touts that you can do small production work with some of their less expensive models. Reviews of the table top models indicate that consistent calibration is the biggest concern, and probably why you would want the more expensive ones. But still, you could have one of these AND a 3D printer for less than 4K. Thats pretty awesome.

You mean lazer cutter yeah? Hmm that cheapest model they have is like just wide enough to work with a sheet of acrylic for a TKL.Makerbot is so damn cool, I almost plunged to just to get one, you see the small cupcakes and the companion cubes they made?
3D printers are cheaper. I might take the plunge for one at some point. Printerbot/Makerbot. = / still like $1K for one tho.
Man, having once of these keyboard roofs would be fantastic. I've been looking around and can't find any that would work with my new WASD though. I may just be blind.
It's dimensions are about 44.1cm wide, 20.7cm long, and 5.1cm in height w/ the wrist rest on.
Any suggestions?
If you received PM from me previously that confirmed your spot, you are in.
Thanks for your patience.

mmmty, you are in. Don't worry. :-) You only need to sleep with me if you are a hot woman wearing nothing but 3 keycaps!
I looked into Makerbot. Even the newer, larger version is not large enough to print a keyboard in one piece. Potentially I could design it into left and right pieces and glue them together, but that would probably look pretty awful.
Buy a Makerbot and make your own keycaps!!

Thanks, litster. I knew I could count on you. Too bad I'm not a girl :nono:
So, is a keycap too small for a Makerbot to make? Or it just can't make something as big as a full size keyboard. Maybe a Poker size?

You can carve the keycaps out by hand a little after them come out of the Makerbot. Half machine half man - cyborg keycaps.
I knew litster made a custom phantom case thread somewhere, and my luck is such that I find it after the first wave of buys is closed. Well, I guess it isn't a bad thing I missed out because I would be looking for the 7bit layout with no separations between the function keys. I know I could just cut up the body, but I dunno how to pull something like that off cleanly. I don't want to end up mutilating such a great looking case.
Litster, would you consider releasing the case parts dimensions and your bill of materials? He wont.
Saw -> File -> Sand -> Brasso
Makes it really smooth.
In that case, count me in for the next round of cases!
The only sanding I've done is on some wood for furniture finishing and metal for lapping heat sinks and a computer case mod.. wasn't sure whether the same methods would work for acrylic. Perhaps if I'm lucky, I will find some acrylic somewhere (likely a dumpster) and experiment with it!
Its pretty much the same thing. Its just brasso gives you that extra step if you want smoother than sanded surface. I reckon with a decently fine sand paper you can get pretty nice.
More similar to metal than wood I guess, since for lapping heat sinks, you want to go at least to 800 grit, if up to 1500 or 2000. I'm not so sure about the Brasso, though. I suspect it would cause the acrylic to craze.
LOL! I don't know if you guys are thread-crapping, or just want to give me free bumps! :-)
Anyhow, this group buy is closed. But I might have more coming available later.
Okay, so you guys are just giving me free bumps. I thought it is kind of off-topic, talking about sawing and sanding metal and wood on an acrylic keyboard case thread. :-)
Biolaser: I'm getting a "7bit" layout, but I haven't decided on a case yet. I really like this acrylic case, but I don't know if I want to spend this much.

Oh, it was all about cutting down that area under the home cluster and above the arrow keys. Someone brought up they have sanded some wood/metal. But the general topic is modding your TKL case to 7bit layout. Tho I think you sohuld just see if you can get enough people to get 7bit.
No problem. Cut that section out is fairly easy. I already made a top layer for the 7BIT layout. I just don't want to make a separate batch of 7BIT top layers. Cutting and sanding the regular top layer would ruin it. You can make it work, but without lasercutting it, your cut edge would be all rough, and you risk cracking it.
Whereas lasercutting doesn't have that effect. In fact laser-cut edge is shiny and smooth. It would be very hard to cut that section out after the fact without hating the result afterward.
I guess until the 7bit layout acrylic case becomes part of a group buy, I will be making and using a custom cardboard case :)
I'm thinking of one made of mountain dew cans.
Payment sent. Goodbye money, hello acrylic cases.
Hi
I ordered one in Deskthority and I ordered as a gift for mi gf birthday, its the 25 of this month... I have any possiblity to get it at that time?
cheers
do you still have extras? probably not but i tought i ask xD
looking nice!
For the first, here is the opaque black with transparent red acrylic case. Keep in mind that the red will actually be darker when a keyboard is installed in the case and block out some light.Show Image(http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=41039&d=1329612796)
I can't to get mine OMG!!!!!!! (Valley girl accent)

So TIL that my Kustom Filco REALLY needs a new case (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?27521-Took-apart-my-Kustom-Filco-today&p=518585).I believe there's a few left but not many so you should PM him and get in on this
Any chance there may be an extra case litster? I would buy it in a second!
I'm the only one who doesn't like the big screw heads? I'd prefer a slick smooth seamingless (does that word exist?) acrylic top.Flat screws will require gluing of the different acrylic layers to keep them in place from my understanding. While I'm not a Huge fan of it myself, litster says it doesn't interfere with you when you're typing so that's fine :D
Seemingly there is no word seamingless.

I think if you get the case you can just saw off the screws to make it flat, but like I said glue might be needed
better take care of it!!!
watch i get my phantom back in a filco case
its in LA!!! should be getting it tomorrow :D

Just got my black and red one :)
Pics and review will be going up in my subforum later this evening!
OMG! I am getting nervous!
wow. that white PCB and white LEDs really set off the blue of the plate/acrylic and legend. sexy.
Speaking of acrylic cases. (http://www.otd.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=album&wr_id=99106&page=5), this is the hottest keyboard I have ever seen.Show Image(http://www.otd.kr/data/file/album/2948655967_91957b5d_IMG_8519.jpg)Show Image(http://www.otd.kr/data/file/album/2948655967_48b03fcf_IMG_8535.jpg)

Saw that last night. When/if our phantom plates are anodized, I might make a clear acrylic case for my self to show off the plate and the PCB.
That is a Korean custom acrylic case with anodized plate and white A87 PCB.
Show Image(http://geekhack.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=36873&d=1325977156)
You mean like this?
Yes.
I also saw this last night: http://www.otd.kr/bbs/board.php?bo_table=album&wr_id=98215
To do this one, I would need a PCB-mounted keyboard. I could use a Wyse PCB and saw off the numpad, or just hand wire the switches. Use a layer of acrylic to hold all the switches. That layer would be long enough and wide enough to match other layers so the acylic switch plate would just be part of the case.

where? and how much??
Got it today! Now time to find out how to put it on my filco.
Sorry I haven't made the video yet to show how to open up a Filco. Do you need any help to open it?
Got mine today. Very nice, shiny, and smooth. The cases are very light. Can't decide which one I like better so I'll keep both - 1 for Filco w/ ergo clears and 1 for Filco Zero.
I have 2 cases too! No keyboard to put it in!
Into the keyboard closet it goes for 2 months :P
got mine today also. very lovely case.
my box came a little beat up, but the packaging was so good nothing happened to it :D!
also litster, what were the tools we needed again? this could be a good excuse to go shopping for tools
put me down for another if you do another run of cases! i would LOVE to get an all clear one
