Did not know about this... wow.

Yep. CC said this event derailed two upcoming sales. I feel sorry for CC, and also bummed that we missed out on those.

"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

I don't want to be a downer... but... finding out pretty long after the fact (because I wasn't really paying any attention to geekhack at the time) about Smallfry is probably the thing that will stick with me the most.

I know. I really miss the guy, it tears me up thinking that he was going on vacation right around when it happened. He really left a legacy that will be remembered. I'm still amazed at his commitment to his hobby and his positive outlook. RIP Smallfry

Deck Hassium and Francium. I'd buy one of these if the font were tolerable.

What do you guys think, should we list all the new boards for 2013 here? Maybe just the most notable ones?

If you list any keyboards, please include FC660C (and FC660M).  The C in particular is the second widely available small form factor Topre board, and has received almost overwhelmingly good reviews.

maybe categorize them all under doubleshot PBT?  I think that was a pretty big deal.

francium was DS PBT right

Definitely flocking!!! I still want a purple fuzzy space bar. :)

As a matter of fact there have been a LOT of additions to the custom keycap world lately.

The Advent of the HyPnOcAp should also be added -- (please use my exact phrasing)
BingeCaps
JiggityJane's Caps
GummyRot Clack
6th Anniversary of GH, and all the contests
Captain's Rap Battle Birthday Contest
Photoelectric's Awesome Case Mod Painting Writeup
A general review of the groupbuys proposed and produced

Maybe this would benefit from some categories?
- New products
- New makers
- Discussions
- GH Events

Great idea for a thread, by the way! Sometimes you forget how eventful the previous year was!
