What would be the arrows profile?

what do you mean by "profile"? DSA is profile-less.

I meant the icon that will be used for the arrows.

The legends are NOT final!

I'm just working on the kits right now. I don't know if modifiers will be upper or lower case. The "nerdom" kit is still under construction and we still miss the international kit (and ISO enter) that has to be defined yet.

ALL kits will be available in blank variant!

input welcome.

I definitely like RGB option, and the fully spelled out Control key caps.

Yeah, I have to say. As much as I hoped it would be beige.  This looks really good Matt.

Suggestions:

- Add a dark gray (1x1 size) = key on the numpad, and possibly also include both / and ÷, both * and × as well
- Add / . , ; ' [ ] ` | - + = to the mono-legend group
- Add a shifted-number mono-legend group with ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) ¢ £ or possibly combine these w/ the other mono-legend group
- Add a 1.5x1 size 'delete' or 'backspace' to the additional mods for the 40% and Happy Hacking folks &c., and possibly also add a 1.75x1 size 'delete' or 'backspace' to the extra homing set, for the Colemak folks

Also, you may want to use a template that uses the sizing of DSA keycap tops, instead of DCS; it'll give you a better idea what will fit.

thanks. regarding the mono-legend let's just try to decide which one we want (upper or lower).

1.5 backspace is in the uncanny mods, I'm going to add more keys to that kit.

If you end up going with white/light-gray maybe like a  off-white/light-gray.

thanks. regarding the mono-legend let's just try to decide which one we want (upper or lower).
Well, my personal reason to want both is that I’m programming my keyboards [currently playing with an Ergodox; planned is to make a custom ergonomic Alps board] to have rather funky keyboard layouts, where I have a bunch of keys with stuff like parentheses and common programming symbols on the first layer; the order of these on standard keyboard layouts is not consistent :)

With respect to this current keycap set it doesn’t matter too much to me, but I imagine there are also other folks out there who would want both for their own various projects.

Anyway, if I had to recommend something more minimal, I’d go for these symbols w/r/t the number row ~ ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) - + ¢ £ " = and just the lower symbol for the bottom 3 rows of keys, i.e. [ ] \ ; ' , . /

I recommend keeping the colors as neutral as possible (not yellowish/beige/etc.), and my vote is for light gray (but could be very light, almost white) and a medium gray (could be fairly light if the first color is close to white).

unfortunately there's no neutral off-white, the only one we have is yellowish.

I'm all in for adding all symbols in the mono-legend kit, that's just down to pricing. 1u keys are pretty inexpensive I don't know how much they surcharge for sublimation yet. I'll know better next week I guess.

Thanks for your feedback!

Oh, also to the "Pear Modifiers" kit, you should add a 2x "Delete", a 2.25x "Return", a 1x "Help", a 1x "Clear", and possibly a 1x F13, F14, F15 ... And if you wanna be really cute, a 1x open apple symbol and a 1x closed apple

You may want to add "Win" keys to one of the extra mods sets.

Can you repeat which specific colors you’re now thinking of using, out of http://www.keycapsdirect.com/images/colors/pbtWhites.JPG http://www.keycapsdirect.com/images/colors/pbtGrays.JPG ?

[Also, does anyone know if anyone has measured these SP color chips with a spectrophotometer, or compared them by eye to some calibrated color chips, so I can get an idea based on more than a likely completely inaccurate photo? :)]

Edit: what about something like GSJ/GSK as colors?

color will be most likely GSH + GEC

This is a gradient of gray

The image below is based on color calibrated pictures (the first is GSH+GEC)

Judging just from pictures, I’d personally use GDE or GSK instead of GEC, and GKK or GSJ instead of GSH.. But again, I don’t have the color chips in front of me, so it’s hard to judge. (And my preferences might differ from you folks’.)

I’m just judging from the photo, where GDE looks only very slightly darker than GEC, but much closer to neutral.

What about something like WFJ and something like GMC? Or is that combination too light?

the only PURE gray solution would GKK+GDE. My color selection has a slightly warmer character.

WFJ has a very nasty reddish shade that I really don't like. It's hard to see from the pictures but it's clear when you compare it to WDG

I considered that but I already had the commodore logo in dsa retro. I could remove ironman and add the Amiga logo though.

Matt, if you figure out approximate prices/MOQ/etc. for PBT dye subs from SP, would you report back about those? (e.g. what’s fixed / per-unit cost for each additional 1x1 legend, etc.)

I’d be happy to design another few sets of 1x1 ornamental caps that look a lot better / more closely match the rest of this set than the "nerdom" keys.

SP pricing is a little... unpredictable (there's no fixed per key price). But I'll post the quote as soon as I have it.

Please post your suggestions, you stubborn Californian guy. (kidding of course)

You should leave it as is.  I only hope you consider running this Group Buy from here in Geekhack instead of allowing SP to run it all.  I still have huge reservations on them running anything worth while.  That is why Geekhack has been doing this now for some years and everyone learns from each other on how to run a GB successfully.  It involves everyone to participate and suggest possible solutions and it always finishes successfully, that is why Geekhack Group Buys is worth being here.

Of course do what ever you want but please consider again how many will sign up to this and hand over their money when the deadline arrives........

Please post your suggestions,
Hm. Well, I just got a bunch of those Dover design books [full of various images showing designs from some region of the world, etc.] and I’ve been feeling inspired to make some monochromatic 2D art. But I’m not exactly sure what.

Examples could be various kinds of patterns/symbols, or plants/flowers, or animals, etc. I dunno, I bet I could come up with something that would go well w/ Gotham Rounded, but I don’t have a concrete plan.

Could the 1u tab and backspace from Uncanny Modifiers go into the numpad set?  I like to use a TKL with an external keypad that has ESC, tab, BS and = in the top row.  That would be really sweet.

It looks complete. But I wonder what the 1.5u arrows are for?

yeah, I could remove the arrows and merge it with the additional modifiers. I'll think about it. The KBT Race has 1.25 arrows

That would be a good idea, joining the mods into one single large set and drop the very uncommon caps.

I'm disappointed this isn't beige anymore but I might sill pick it up (I need keys for the Tipro I picked up). Is there any chance of a Compose key or a 1u Caps Lock (or Shift Lock) key?

This looks great! My only concern is that for a 40% (smallfry kb layout), I'd have to buy two kits. I second ideus's idea of merging the mod packs and getting rid of the very, very uncanny mods.
main kbs:  87UB (55g)  Custom Filco TKL (62g clears)

WTS JD40, Custom Ergoclear Filco

WTB ROHS Red BBv2 (Topre), OG EK Tri-Color Skull (TOPRE)

I suggest you to add a red enter in the pro kit, or right in the base set, or in the pinch of color set.

unfortunately, 2.x keys are expensive.

The blue enter is nice then ;)

Are the -, =, symbol caps missing in the mono-legend set?

I don't understand the point of having full grey ergodox kit, unless this kit is significantly cheaper than the grey DSA PBT ergodox kit that will be steadily available on SP website.
KMAC2 - Matrix Lab 8XV2.0 - TGR Jane v2 CE - KBD8X MKII - Meridian - Matrix Lab Noah - Fallacy x2 - MGA Standard - Geon Frog mini - Amano - Ciel60 - Prime_Elise - Matrix Lab 6XV3.0 aka Corsa
