It was already super cheap because it was priced at 1000 MOQ.

It's easy to give "discounts" when your MOQ is 250 and your starting price is higher.

Late April 2020 is the estimated ship date so you will probably get it around May barring any delays.

Just follow this thread to get any updates. Some times the seller (NovelKeys, Daily Clack, etc) will have updates on their site.

On NovelKeys page it says expected delivery is late April 2020. However, take that with a grain of salt as this set sold an incredible amount of kits along with other GMK sets in production queue.

I think delays should be expected with this much volume which is obviously fine. The only thing that is worrying is QC as per oblivion. Still then, this set won't be needing new molds and the colors have been used before.

They don't need to do better, they need to hit MOQ. MOQ is the magic number. That's why it exists. It's a big, bold number set by the runners/vendors/manufacturers so people don't try equate other factors, such as ratio of alt kits to base kits, as anything meaningful. Sales > MOQ good. Sales < MOQ bad.

GMK sets a price for a MOQ, that is 1000 in this case. now that there are 4000 base kits ordered, the vendors can get a lower price from GMK while we/the customers pay the same amount of money. so there's money left, which results in more base kits getting bought by the vendors. they make more cash with selling more base kits, correct, on your back, correct, but this money can be used to improve the shops and grow or offer better products in the future.

that's basically how capitalism works. there's a chance it'll make things worse for us, the community, but there's also a chance it'll give us more opportunities in the future.

I think its a good thing for the community for sure. I think its pretty idiotic when people get in these threads *****ing and moaning about people buying extra sets for reselling, and then its just crickets when a vendor stocks up on kits to sell past groupbuy. Whatever, I'm thankful for people holding stock for others after the groupbuy has run, be it a vendor or a 3rd party. There are people who are going to want this set in a few months that will have no means of obtaining it, and the extra stock will change that.

I'm not saying they couldn't / shouldn't, I'm just surprised as it's the first time a vendor has bought this many extras. The more the merrier. Lol geekhack sure has a lot of preachers

Here is to hoping I'm one of those luck souls that can come across this set somewhere in the future. I was out of the country for a month without reliable access to the internet, so I literally could not purchase this set. I got back to the US today and was able to purchase the RAMA M60-A Olivia while in the airport. I was hoping I would be able to buy the set at checkout for the M60, but no luck. Heck, even having that enter cap would be pretty awesome considering it mirrors the back plate on the board. Awesome set, congrats to everyone that was able to get their hands on these caps.

GMK wont even be close to starting these. They’ve recently shipped 8008, which ran in August.
There were approx 10 sets/month at the end of last year and this one ran in December.

In my mind I’m targeting a Q4 date, personally.

GMK Andy said they were gonna get a new machine, but his description of their workflow was pretty reliant on personnel and  that’s limited right now more than ever. They’re also stuck on some sets not getting the raw materials in a timely fashion so delays can be extrinsic. Fall behind on color matching and get behind other sets and you get the delays like with GMK Peaches and Cream which closed august 1st even though I think Rensuya works promptly to get colors right.

We all ***** about delays, but imperfections in stem alignment and icon mod quality issues are gonna be with us for a long time. I bet many in the Hiragana WoB thread would have rather waited 6 more weeks and gotten keys of better quality.

Just curious, if GMK just checks the mold once wouldn't all batches turn out correct? I'm making this assumption based on the fact that each gmk set have its own unique and consistent problems (e.g gmk olive the u-i-o are the most crooked). I just don't see why this is difficult or time consuming quality control.

It all depends on their production methods. You could check a mold once and have something come out of alignment during production that would cause issues with the portion of sets made. Hopefully we won't run into any issues, especially with how big this order was, but that's also where QC is supposed to come in and prevent substandard keys from shipping before replacements can be made. It's not necessarily difficult, but it is time consuming to ensure that many kits are all up to snuff and expensive to fix if they're not, so we'll just have to wait and see how GMK handles this set compared to other recent ones with QC issues.
