Order if ONLY you can pay the invoice within a few days and don't have to use that money in the next 3-4 weeks.

Thank you for this sentence.

Actually, I'm going to change it to US orders only because I need to know the amount of US orders to know the cost to ship from Korea in bulk.

But for international orders, it doesn't matter.

What stabilizers does it take? I assume cherry PCB mount, but I dont remember if I saw any specifics on kbd4u.

Sorry I have some doubts regarding this group buy:

1. In what batch this gb will be?
- As from what I knew so far, the first batch has almost closed order, the production starts on 17 to 24 Jan for one week. And the deadline u decided for payment/order is 1st of Feb, which I'm curious and confuse to be honest.

2. The maximum orders taken for each batch stated in the official website is only 60, how many slot are still available?

3. Which Korean will be helping to make this gb run?
- As from I knew it only opens for Korean to make order, unless there's a Korean that are willing to help order and ship to US proxy.

Last but not least, the next batch will/may be conducted after 3-4months after the production of the first batch ended.

I'm very interested to the Lightpad, but there's a lot of myths in my mind that stop me for proceeding any order before everything is clear.
As from what we see from sprit's gb, everything getting along seems a bit messy in my opinion. Sorry if this offense sprit, but I really like and salute his effort for making nice stuff for GHers.

Sure sprit GB is a mess, my order and others VN's one never get invoices and replies or any words on what happened...

Anyway, I love this Butterfly pcb, can I just buy the pcb (smd presolder) only ?

Okay, a lot of questions.

The MX version uses Cherry PCB stabilizers.

As for the Viper, when it's ready, I'm not sure who will be doing it. I'll try to get some info about it.

The acrylic inserts won't be available. They aren't even sold in Korea because of quality issues.

Batches? I don't know anything about that but I'm getting these from the maker himself. TrueCustom is the owner of kbd4u, kbdlab, and the creator of Duck and I received instructions on helping him create a GB for geekhack.

Yes, you can order the PCB alone.

First, I'm trying to find out about the stabilizers.

Yes, you can order the PCB alone.

Awesome, so how should I fill the order form because I don't see the option to buy the pcb alone ;D

That's true. But compare it to a GON kittypad and it is expensive. Of course this one has a fully CNCed case and is programmable, which is cool.

GON's Kitty Pad is $85 for the case, $25 for PCB.  Fully assembled one he sells for around $198.

365 Pad last sold was $400.

So this price is average I'd say..

I updated post #19 with postage and delivery zones.

I wonder now what you wrote before you edited..

You're in US or SK?

I'm in South Korea but I leave near the end of February. So it was mostly a question about where I should ship it to.
I like linear.

The Orion is not part of this GB and is out of my control since Duck/TC is planning on holding a GB with someone else on GH for Orion.  It wouldn't be right for me to do this.  However, I'll still enquire into this and let you know..

I'm not entirely sure if you can omit the bottom plate for an acrylic plate since the Korean GB on kbd4u requires you to order the whole set and add 7,000 WON for the acrylic plate..

Do you mean the dimensions of the LED holes on the case? Or the LEDs on the PCB?

If the latter, the LEDs are on the side, the 2 white components on each side of the PCB.

Default LED colour is red

EDIT:  Duck is not offering any assembly service. Sorry.

EDIT 2: I think he is able to ship with ORION.  Let me know the details.

Included in this set:
Aluminium housing in either black or silver
MX plate
PCB with MX and ALPS support
PCB presoldered (Can be bought separately as well)

I wish the plate was available as well, I'd prefer plate vs PCB switches.

Just some updates.

True Custom has packed the keypads and shipping costs were over charged.  I will refund the difference once I know the true costs.

Anyone want to buy stabilizer sets for $3.50? I will just refund the difference in shipping + the stabilizers.

This does not apply to US bulk shipment though and the CAD one. He overestimated the weight of keypad + packing materials for each order, but underestimated the bulk US order. :\

It's ok, we got the US order covered.

Sorry, he's only selling the stabilizers to those he overcharged.

International orders are the ones affected..I'll make a list and give 24 hours or so for those to read the update if they want to add stabilizers to their order or not. Then I'll start the refund

Overcharged Shipping Differences:
joneslee85 - $23
witbliz - $4 - $3.5
KyesaRRi - $22 - $3.5
Razer1987 - $19 - $3.5
Aleksander - $19 - $7
cruk - $13.5

You guys can track your package here: http://www.koreapost.go.kr/eng/sub/EMS_Search.jsp?contId=e1020600

Or you can use your country's postal system to track it. Works for me when I track a Canadian or US order.

Example: canadapost.ca, usps.com, etc

Settled with Ergo Clears and standard Greys. Caps are from the keyboard that came from my original 486 dx66 (rubber dome); sadly the longer caps used a different stabilizer, they cannot be used with cherry mx :(.

How'd you fit rubber dome key caps on cherry mx switches?

I got everything today.  And for those of you who have seen how Redline packages, I can tell you that this packaging was proper packaging.  The boxes came looking great (though oddly they were taped together) and with plenty of good packaging material on all sides.  It's a pity I have to open the PCB packaging just to confirm what's what since they're not marked too clearly.

I have to pick up some different sized boxes from the post to see what size box it will fit in.  Right now it's looking like they'll be in a medium flat rate box (edit: I should say this depends on what you ordered, one order might require a large), so shipping will be the cost of that and any additional packaging materials I may have to add.  The target is to get invoices out by Thursday, assuming I can get to the post on my lunch tomorrow or Thursday, and shipped by this weekend as long as you pay the shipping invoice quickly.

If you have any questions, requests, shipping bundles, change of address, love letter requests, and so on, now is the time to get them in.  Just PM me and I'll do my best to get back to you quickly and make it work.

The single stem caps are cherry mx compatible:

I could modify them but i dont think it looks bad the way it is.

Alright, it looks like even the biggest order will fit into a medium flat rate box.  The flat rate box price is $12.35 online and I expect to pay ~$5 for packing tape (~$1 a person) since I can't ever seem to find it cheap, at least not for decent tape.  So I'll be invoicing everyone for $15 to cover those costs, a little for gas, Paypal costs, and a little extra to defray any additional shipping materials I may have to purchase.

If you'd rather I ship by weight, I can see if I can scrounge any boxes and let you know what shipping will be.

Edit:  Cost Breakdown - $12.35 flat rate shipping + $0.85 tape+ ~$0.75 PP fees + $0.50 gas + $0.55 any additional materials cost.  If I can get shipping cheaper and have no additional costs, there will be a small refund.

Again, if you have any questions, need to change anything, want to combine anything, and so on, contact me ASAP so I can work it out.

How much is one atom of elements with half lives of milliseconds? This pad pales in comparison.

But to answer your question, high quality aluminum

Time and knowledge of CAD to make the product, distributed prototyping cost, small production run, high quality aluminum, milling costs, anodizing costs, PCB SMD component soldering costs, laser cut stainless steel plate (or aluminum, not sure which it is) and so on.  It would be considerably cheaper if it were just the PCB, but a milled aluminum case and laser cut and properly finished plate makes it much pricier.

I couldn't afford one at the time, but, all things considered, it's actually not a bad price for what you're getting.  I think it's actually cheaper than some of the other Korean custom keypads you see pop up on here from time to time.

Having a play with the pad:

To get it into programming mode with the USB unplugged hold down the top left key down then plug the USB in; in Device Manager you will see "ATm32U4DFU" appear. Programming will be done with flip.

When i get home ill have a stab at it.

Got FLIP running, recognizes the pad but I have no idea on how to dump the hex / write my own from scratch.

Does anyone have the matrix of these? As in Row/columns to what keys?

Metalliqaz is trying to adapt his Easy AVR USB Keyboard Firmware and Keymapper to several boards. It's a whole lot easier to use for programming and gives a ton of options that the classic TMK firmware doesn't account for such as volume and media keys.

I just got mine a few days ago so I will be making some shots before I send it off to be modified anyway but maybe someone already has the necessary info.

I may or may not have damaged part of the PCB of my keypad while desoldering. :-\

If I wanted to buy a replacement PCB, would KBD4U be the only one that fit this case, or are there other ones that are compatible as well?
