01.14.2021 - Overhaul, New Kittings:

January 14, 2021 - Overhaul: Brand New Kitting - Pricing Very Soon!

A bit of an update before price reveal: I have received 1st round quotation from GMK on previous kit (the one you're seeing on the first page) and the 2nd round of quotation for new kitting, which involved the removal of Obscure kit and Spacebars kit, solely due to:
- 40s kit might not be able to reach 100 MoQ
- Two Child kits (Spacebars and Golden Accents) at 250 MoQ restriction from GMK might be hard to achieve. We (me and my lead vendor) decided to just offer one kit that has 250MoQ, which is the (new) Golden Accents Kit.

We tend to take the route of the newest kitting, that involves:

• Expanding the Base kit; Adding minimal 40s support and minibars for Alice-layout, much influenced by the inputs from kitting experts and 40s community altogether
• Removing Obscure and Spacebars kit
• Novelty kit remain unchanged

This is how the newest base kit look like:

Added: R2 1.75 backspace, R3 1.5 Enter, R4 1.25 Tab keys for minimal 40s support, R4 convex minibars (1x 2u, 1x 2.25u, 1x 2.75u) for Alice-layout support.

Also the newest Golden Accents kit (250 MoQ):

Added: Accent color 6.25u and 7u convex spacebars.

What's removed from the previous base kit:

Again, Obscure kit and Spacebars kit are removed due to the newest base kit compatibility list. The total number of kits are now 3 (three), which are:

• Base Kit
• (Golden)Accents kit
• Novelties kit (No changes)

Questions, inputs/suggestions? Please leave your comment here or you can DM me personally. Here are probably the most common question regarding the kitting changes:

Q: What is the price difference between the newest base kit vs previous base kit?
A: Around 5 dollars, give or take.

Q: Will 6u spacebar and the rest of minibars from previous spacebars set be included somewhere?
A: Unfortunately, no. This is due to 2x 250 MoQ that concerned me and my vendor. I can only suggest you to look for previous/future GMK sets that also use GMK WS4 stock color if you must need to have/obtain these uncommon sized spacebars. Hint: Other set that are going to GB soon also uses the same RAL color as this set, so you might wanna check it out.

Q: What is the price of the previous Obscure kit?
A: I can't tell you the exact price but it is around USD $47 to 49 MSRP at 100 kits MoQ.

You need to review this and determine whether to actually support English (UK) or not.

Noted & thank you! Will strongly consider F13 inclusion. Not sure if I were to include Alice's B on the base kit without split bars. I thought they were inseparable.

Code is a generic legend that can work both as an OS key (Super) for Mac / OG HHKB bottom row users, and as a 1.5u Fn key for WKL users. Imo it should stay.

This may not be the right place to bring this up, but I'll use this occasion nevertheless. I like this set and I would be likely to join the GB.

However, as much as I like Jae and all his work, is it really feasible to use a single European vendor when said vendor is in a country that is not part of the European Union? Living in Denmark this means I would be paying 25% VAT on top of whatever GB price is as well as a flat rate "processing fee" of the equivalent of $26 (this applies to all packages coming from outside the EU). It may actually end up being cheaper to buy from an Asian vendor, which is a bit absurd when GMK is produced in a neighboring country.

Living in Denmark this means I would be paying 25% VAT on top of whatever GB price is as well as a flat rate "processing fee" of the equivalent of $26 (this applies to all packages coming from outside the EU). It may actually end up being cheaper to buy from an Asian vendor, which is a bit absurd when GMK is produced in a neighboring country.

I have asked Jae about this and will probably come up with a solution to cater EU buyers (without charging VAT) sometimes in next week/next couple weeks.
Jae might reply to this as well, as I heard from him something related to brexit deal announcement that's currently happening in Europe.

• for the "notation" novelties, clef and the bold double bar line should be connected with the staff lines
• fortissimo looks like it was painted with too much ink, normally there should be a seperation between the two fs
• Why 3/8? Seems to me like an oddly specific choice.

re: time signature -> 4 is considered unlucky in certain Asian cultures because it sounds a lot like the word for "death",  whereas 8 is a very famous lucky number, because it sounds like the term for fortune/generate wealth. 3 sounds similar to the word for happiness too.

To be honest even if it is personal preference I'm fully on the side of NOT including an umpad in base, at least in my opinion it adds extra unnecessary cost to something most people will just leave in the box never to be touched again, I don't think it would too bold of an assumption to guess that alot of peeps in the hobby nowadays tend to have 60s up to about TKL nowadays, majority of boards NOT including numpad.

Just seems like an extra chonk of money for something majority of us won't use though I definitely understand if you don't want to change anything this late on.

Either way still pretty hyped for this set!

Keeping a numpad in the base kit really does not add that much more cost but separating it out into an additional kit can make it prohibitively expensive.
There are already 4 additional kits here and moving the numpad out of the base might actually increase the vendor cost of handling the set, since they would have to handle and pack that many more different pieces.
So you might save a couple dollars on the cost of a base kit but the overall expense of vending the set will also increase.

Besides, having a little leftover plastic isn't the end of the world and if you are bothered by it then you could always get a numpad/macropad to put it to use.

January 14, 2021 - Overhaul: Brand New Kitting - Pricing Very Soon!

A bit of an update before price reveal: I have received 1st round quotation from GMK on previous kit (the one you're seeing on the first page) and the 2nd round of quotation for new kitting, which involved the removal of Obscure kit and Spacebars kit, solely due to:
- 40s kit might not be able to reach 100 MoQ
- Two Child kits (Spacebars and Golden Accents) at 250 MoQ restriction from GMK might be hard to achieve. We (me and my lead vendor) decided to just offer one kit that has 250MoQ, which is the (new) Golden Accents Kit.

We tend to take the route of the newest kitting, that involves:

• Expanding the Base kit; Adding minimal 40s support and minibars for Alice-layout, much influenced by the inputs from kitting experts and 40s community altogether
• Removing Obscure and Spacebars kit
• Novelty kit remain unchanged

This is how the newest base kit look like:

Added: R2 1.75 backspace, R3 1.5 Enter, R4 1.25 Tab keys for minimal 40s support, R4 convex minibars (1x 2u, 1x 2.25u, 1x 2.75u) for Alice-layout support.

Also the newest Golden Accents kit (250 MoQ):

Added: Accent color 6.25u and 7u convex spacebars.

What's removed from the previous base kit:

Again, Obscure kit and Spacebars kit are removed due to the newest base kit compatibility list. The total number of kits are now 3 (three), which are:

• Base Kit
• (Golden)Accents kit
• Novelties kit (No changes)

I will reveal the pricing for all mentioned kits above very, very soon. Thank you very much to those helped me come up with the kitting solution, notably konstantin, 40% keyboard community, as well as many good friend in this mechanical keyboard community.

Q: What is the price difference between the newest base kit vs previous base kit?
A: Around 5 dollars, give or take.

Q: Will 6u spacebar and the rest of minibars from previous spacebars set be included somewhere?
A: Unfortunately, no. This is due to 2x 250 MoQ that concerned me and my vendor. I can only suggest you to look for previous/future GMK sets that also use GMK WS4 stock color if you must need to have/obtain these uncommon sized spacebars. Hint: Other set that are going to GB soon also uses the same RAL color as this set, so you might wanna check it out.

Q: What is the price of the previous Obscure kit?
A: I can't tell you the exact price but it is around USD $47 to 49 MSRP at 100 kits MoQ.

As much as I had wanted to when designing the theme, It just doesn't look right to me personally.
In order for the fortissimo novelty Caps Lock key to look good, I have to reduce the size to match it to the icon sizes on other modifier icons,
which is not quite possible with GMK's doubleshot restrictions (line too thin cannot be produced).
