Looks like a really nice set, it would be more appealing for me to have a more international friendly kit though (UK ISO) otherwise it's a no from me. GLWIC

Can I ask why you're going with UV printing though. I'm pretty sure this could be double shot, unless the cost of mixing colors is prohibitive?

2 different color legends would make the entire keycap tripleshot, which GMK does not do, but JTK and Domikey might be able to.
The WoB would be doubleshot, and the extra color would be UV or pad printed.
Eons ago, there was an interest check for a keycap set based on a laptop. I think it was something related to a machine used in the first missions to the moon by NASA. This set made me recalled it; although, it never came to the GB phase, as long as I can remember.
- 3 key is always appreciated, but I'm not too sure how useful it would be in this set. If you're using a 4 row keyboard you'd be cutting off the numpad sublegends, which doesn't really make much sense for the theming this has going for it. I'm not entirely sure if there's a solution to this and still include 40s support.
- The extra F11, F12, and F13 keys in base are really odd, maybe you could render the purpose for those?
- I personally always feel like alice B in base without the bars is odd. Either have the split bars in base or move the extra B to bars kit.
- There's so many possibilities for some fun child kits. One especially would be a macro kit imo.

Sounds like you're talking about GMK Azimuth (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=81016.0) which as based off the Grid Compass
Interesting to see that thread go through the same line of thought this is going through, namely around GMK pad vs JTK shot.
Fingers crossed we can get it over the line this time :thumb:

I think you should move the black F11, F12, F13 keys to the Extension kit. They don't seem to serve any purpose in the base kit, other than being a throwback to the black Ins, Del keys on the original board, but I don't think that translates well to this set.
Consider adding a 1u Alt and two 1.5u System keys to the Extension kit, for Mac and OG HHKB bottom row support.
Nice!Oh yeah that's a great idea, good to know
Consider N5 or TU2 from GMK color palette instead of RAL, that way the price will be as low as possible
GLWIC
Very nice set. Although extra b with no alice spacebars is kind of weird.

Filled in feedback form, hoping for norde kit and maybe alice support in base kit :)
I decided to keep the extra B in base in order to keep the spacebar kit cheaper and not add two extra colours to the spacebar kit.
Unfortunately I don't think I'll have alice bars in base as I already have 2.25u and 2.75u shift keys that can be used instead.
it would be awesome to have a black f row in the base to make it cleaner without having to mix sets. just my take :thumb:

I love this but it really needs ortho/40's support. Usually one of the first things to go on an ortho board is the numpad, so this set would be perfect. Pleaseeee.
While I'm usually a big fan of 3 key 40s support in the base kit, I don't think it works for this set. The red numpad sub legends on the alphas don't make sense on a 40s board without the top number row. You could remove a few keys from the base kit, and maybe add a separate 40s kit.
Also, I think the key unit sizing text is incorrect on the bottom row to the right of the space bar, and on the pipe key.
Looks great! Will definitely consider grabbing a set when the gb opens.
How durable are the UV printed sublegends? Will they eventually rub off over long term use?
Vendors! It’s happening!
On the shift keys: Why the 1.25u does not have the "Shift" legend? It does not match the others without it.

There is not enough space to make it look good. I would prefer just text only shift, but icon is fine here.

There is enough space for the legend and the icon, I have many OG keys that exemplify it. Icon only shift keys can make it as well, but having one with no legends does not make sense.
Hyped for the set. Also, where can I find out more about that Nine_ board in the renders?

I think the board has been renamed to the DSXT and is currently undergoing a redesign.

thank you! now, what about this one?Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/m7ad0LH.png)
love the design and i love the macos/hhkb support! i’m wondering, however, if the 1.5u System keys in extension should be blue to match blue sublegends? (would seem to make more sense for macos.) if so, then need two 1u Alt in yellow. as is, the sublegends don’t tie together for macos. glwgb :thumb:
The keyboard in WITF by Ramlord render, does that actually exist and where do I buy it?First GB is closed already. But there’s a waiting list for a future (eventual) GB, fingers crossed.
Edit: I saw the comment about reaching out to Ramlord on Discord

so, any ballpark idea when this keyset will go to GB?

Another suggestion is to turn black f-keys into m-keys and make them R1-R4. I don’t see a point in having 2 sets of f-keys, while m-keys would cover currently popular XT-layout boards like Zenith.

The colours are based on the legend rather than the position on the board
exactly my point. system keys need to be blue for macos. (we use “command” key, to be replaced by “system” key and not “alt” key.)

My point is that "Alt" is blue and "System" is yellow regardless of position
your ic, but you’re wrong. alt is not a thing on macs. the key combo is not alt+c for copy. it’s command+c. peace
edit: alt is relegated to teriary mod status and command (system) is promoted to primary. as a result, alt should be yellow and system should be blue according to the function assigned to these keys in macos.
i think i am misunderstanding your inspiration: it looks to me like the mod key color ties to the sublegend on the alphas. but as currently rendered, a macos user must press a yellow system key to activate blue sublegends. kinda misses the point of color coding. i am struggling to get my head around the idea these are just pretty colors and not a user prompt, so i’ll likely pass. glwgb, this is a poggers set :thumb:
my 2c: @hark, don't change a thing. you have nailed it on the design, and i think this is a faithful reproduction of the vintage keyset. looking forward to purchasing every kit.

I agree, this is the first GMK set in a while that's really grabbed my attention. I really think you should keep it as is, especially the grey F keys. They're my favourite. :D

i think we all have an appreciation for this set as well as the inspiration. so why do you think the keys were originally colored? it appears there is a logic in color matching "alt" with alpha sublegends that aligns with common keyboard shortcuts.
by all means, don't change a thing if you don't want to. i sorta assumed the non-vintage 1.5u system keys don't really have a place on a windows board. if there is a use for 1.5u system keys in windows i'll quit pushing a mac agenda. but if the systems keys are intended for macos users then they do not serve their intended purpose for our use case. that's all i'm trying to say. (guess i'm as uninformed about windows as many are about macs, and i'm actually looking to learn here.)
and fwiw, i fully understand the inspiration. i was only attempting to get the runner to see things from a macos user's pov, something that is not intuitive for many windows users. to say it differently, imagine the alt keys had yellow sublegends. makes no sense, right? not only because of the inspiration, but because the alpha sublegends are blue. the colors do not align. THAT is my point about the system keys being blue. since there are no system keys in the inspiration set i am confused why people who likely will not buy/use the system keys even care? peace

Those keys are primarily for HHKB users, not MacOS users.
The frow can be used as m keys as seen in the Nine_ renders, I don't really think the profile of the keys matters all that much for XT layouts, as they're not constantly used to type. I also feel like there are more people who want a black frow than those who want macro keys, so the black frow has been prioritised in kitting.
Who would have 1.5 System key in the same place as Mac users, no? So it makes sense for them to be blue?
Just pitching in that Alice spacebars should be included w the base kit if you are putting an extra B. :thumb:

any update on this set? hoping to see this get to GB this yearI want the set to get GB soon as well although I'm not quite sure when that'll happen, in terms of updates:
any update on this set? hoping to see this get to GB this yearI want the set to get GB soon as well although I'm not quite sure when that'll happen, in terms of updates:
- I have confirmed a cable collab.
- I have received pricing from GMK.
Not quite sure when the best time to run the set will be as GMK lead times have been increasing and sales of GMK sets have been decreasing recently.
As much as I do want to run the set sooner rather than later, I do want the set to actually hit moq and I definitely don't want to change manu.

If you are able to do 250 moq like some of the other sets ran recently, I think it will hit that for sure. I really hope this can happen sooner rather than later.

if you dont mind paying $1k for this set... delivery 2025
@Hark Just wanted to join the others here in saying this looks absolutely sick. Really hope there is a GB sometime :D
Hi all!
Sorry for the lack of updates, unfortunately I've had family issues to deal with over the past year and have had not had any time to work on this set.
However, I still love this set and would eventually love to run it. Are you guys still interested in purchasing GMK 1520 if it were eventually to go into group buy?
If so, I would be glad to do the work required to have it run and get the set made.

I regret nothing.
GMK 1520 is back!Bless you and hark. Good news good news
I have been wanting this set ever since the IC was posted, so in collaboration with Hark I will be helping bring this set to groupbuy.
We are in talks with a few vendors already, and we're currently in the process of getting up to date quotes for pricing. If anybody has any final suggestions for kitting, etc, please feel free to share. As you may have been able to see, we have implemented a few changes to lower pricing, since the market isn't as strong as it was.
I'm super excited for this set to finally run, and I really hope we can get this set the attention it deserves. Get your wallets ready

My feedback:
1. Replace the grey f row with the black f row from the extension kit, make the grey f row optional.
This way it can be a great WOB alternative and in my eyes it even looks better.
2. The R1 delete should be F13 sub legend, this way it can fit stuff like the Austin. And change the " R3 key from ~ sublegend to = sub legends, so you would have full numpad on TKL layout.
Other then that it looks great, hope the price will be right for this.
It says that the light blue RAL color will be UV printed and not doubleshot. That makes sense for the caps with 3 colors, but will the Alt and Fn keys be doubleshot or UV printed?
Is this dead again?
GB is planned for early next year. We will share more details when we get them, and I will say that I can pretty much guarantee this set will ship by the end of next year.
Just wanted to give a little check in post…
Groupbuy is still scheduled for early next year. We are finalizing kitting, pricing, etc.

Hark and I are super excited to announce that the groupbuy for GMK 1520 will start March 1st and end on the 29th!
Finalized kitting, estimated pricing, and vendors are all listed in the OP.
We would like to thank each of you for your continued interest in the set. It's been a long journey, but it is finally happening so make sure to grab a set when the groupbuy is live!

Heads up!: The final kitting images are not available.
Is there a GB thread for this? I missed that it had started, seems like most vendors have it up now.
