I learned Colemak on ktouch, which is free software for Linux. Would recommend it.

RSI prevention recipe:[/B] Kinesis Contoured, Colemak layout, touch typing, Contour Design Rollermouse,  Logitech TrackMan Wheel, Logitech m570 trackball, "workrave" break timer software, "awesome" window manager, tenkeyless boards, cherry browns, Wang 724 with "ghetto green" ALPS, standing desk and/or comfy adjustable chairs, stress reduction, computer time reduction.

I learn Colemak with Type Master. After you learn full keyboard, practically you can use any Typing software that you like.

Just turn off the keyboard graphics, and there you go. I use Typing Tutor 7 for that purpose.

And for fun, I practice with Amphetype, Typing of the Dead, TyperShark Deluxe, and compete online at typeracer.com

I use Amphetype. It's buggy, but good.

I was wondering if anyone had a list of the most common length 3, 4, 5, etc. strings for typers of English. I could use a list like that with Amphetype fairly easily.

Wordlists are OK, and I have found some. But, I was hoping for just the strings, since long words tend to be higher in concentration of certain letter combinations (like "tion" for example, which isn't in any small common words)

Use Type Faster, it is not a flashy program but some of the lessons are made by Shai Coleman himself.  You have to download the Colemak lessons separate from the software.  http://colemak.com/wiki/index.php?title=TypeFaster

I've also been using TypeFaster, and it's a definite improvement over gtypist which I was using before.

I used this website to learn many layouts.
It uses the most common words (nothing more).

The Typing Cat is terrific for this kind of thing. Lots of layouts supported - Colemak, Dvorak, Workman (though no Mod-DH unfortunately).
