There's a bit of a controversy about the title of this thread, given some PMs we've received.  As a result, a poll has been added.

Basically it used to be that all or most high end customs (generally made with CNC aluminum cases, custom PCBs, etc) have been made by Korean artisans, but lately it's no longer the case.  Since keyboards like TGR Jane have already been posted here, is there still a point to the thread's title indicating that only Korean customs should be posted here?  What if they are designed by someone in Korea but made in China?  etc.

Please vote if you'd like to express your opinion.  If you'd like to keep this thread dedicated to Korean customs only, we should probably have more clear terms for qualifying keyboards.

I think we should accept all high-end/cool customs.

I don't agree that we should change the title/subject of the thread that mostly stayed on topic (posting korean boards) for almost 10,000 posts. Why not just post the matrix, tgr, etc keyboards in the keyboard photography thread or start a NEW thread dedicated to "Post your Custom Keyboard" or something. I don't see how starting a new thread would hurt at all.

Just doesn't seem right to change such an old thread.

Doesn't bother me either way, but I kinda think since this thread was originally intended for Korean customs that it should remain that way,
and possibly start a separate thread titled "Post your High End Custom".

I'm personally for changing this thread to accommodate all "high end" customs. Whilst it all started in Korea, it wouldn't make sense to have a thread per country (as there is Vietnamese, Malaysian, Chinese, British etc.) as it would split things up too much. Having one thread for Korea, and one for everything else just pointlessly puts kustoms on a pedestal that isn't achievable for others.

If we do change it to "high end", the "regulations" need to be clear. This is obviously another conversation.

When this thread was made, I don't think there were any customs being made in any significant quantity outside of Korea. I think if it were made today, it'd just be about customs in general and not limited to Korean customs.

I don't know why this debate is coming up again. In my opinion, being snobby about a custom being "Korean" or not is just kinda unnecessarily elitist.

That's the beauty of the hobby, we hate elite keyboards and normal keyboards, no need to throw them all in one thread that goes from keycool to $550 customs.

Keycool is not "high-end" nor "custom".  The proposed thread title includes something like "high-end".

Everything is in perspective, $500 to one person is another persons $5000, feelings will get hurt if you draw the line at "high" where Korean and other labels are more ambiguous. But, I don't think there is a clean way to divide this.

There are "customs" and "keyboards" if someone put nixdorfs into a keycool it would become "high" priced moreso than most customs.

In b4 someone starts complaining about something not being "high-end" enough if the topic changes.

So to be clear, is the issue that people are afraid of "run-of-the-mill cheapo customs" being included here or that the thread should remain dedicated to Korean customs only?  (in which case, TGR Jane should go into a Post Your Malaysian Keyboard thread).

Pretty much already happened, there's already plenty of other threads open, but they aren't used nearly as much.

There's not really a solution to this problem other than to make a "Post your custom keyboard."  if you really want to generalize it.

Or go by the Makers, Post your Duck, Post your TGR etc.. and just throw them in another subforum

every time you guys have tried to change it, even as stupid as removing the emoticon in the title, it got reverted. every time someone tried to make a new thread that was just 'post your custom keyboards' no one gave a **** and still posted here. just leave the thread alone and let people post whatever they want, no one is actually upset if you post a Jane in this thread but can you guys stop messing with things on the site that don't need to be messed with such as threads with hundreds of pages of history, including the title?

I think the former, this thread has been more for "high-end", smaller batch-size custom kit boards rather than hand wired things, more mass-produced runs (ex: Whitefox, M65).

Unfortunately there's not really a name for those keyboards anymore since they're not all Korean. Just leave it, people know what to post here.

Exactly. People are making this far more complicated than it needs to be. This thread is just the thread to post customs. I feel like the name should stay as it is for the sake of posterity and also considering that all of the customs we have today are derived from the original Korean boards in some way.

If you want to count peanuts, then the TGR has a Korean PCB in it. *shrug*

I really don't know why people complain about this. Are they new or something?

Doesn't bother me either way, but I kinda think since this thread was originally intended for Korean customs that it should remain that way,
and possibly start a separate thread titled "Post your High End Custom".

That's a good suggestion.  What about TGR Jane though?

If it at least has a Korean PCB then I don't see the problem with it being posted here.

I realize this is semantics, but non-Korean customs have Korean PCBs in them nowadays (such as Leeku's TX87 PCB, GON's PCBs, Sprit's PCBs, etc.)  Anyway, personally I didn't vote, because I have no strong opinion on the subject.  It seems like there are some strong supporters of leaving the thread as is for the foreseeable future (though plenty of people have voted for a change too).

IMHO just because the thread has strayed slightly off topic, doesn't mean we should change the title of a popular, nearly 5 year old thread..(again)

I'm interested in Korean keyboards, both custom and pre-made. Korean's aren't the only ones producing high-end boards these days, but they make enough to warrant their own thread.  :thumb:

I think the title of the thread should be changed to be more inclusive of all "group buy" custom keyboards. That excludes more mass-produced keyboards such as the Whitefox, Magicforce, Keycool (lol), while still allowing for high-end, limited quantity, custom boards to be posted (Jane, Mira, Matrix, and more).

It'll be cool to allow different custom boards to be posted, while still maintaining the luxurious feel of the thread. No matter what, the key is that the thread quality doesn't deteriorate with the inclusion of "Massdrop" boards.

I think it'll be cool to allow different custom boards to be posted, while still maintaining the luxurious feel of the thread.

The majority of this forum is dedicated to custom keyboards....Why do we need everything in one thread?

Or you make a new thread for other keyboards like multiple users have tried to do, and then let those threads die because not enough people care. Why do you have to take over the Korean Keyboard thread?

Create a new thread called "Post Your High-End Custom Keyboard ^_^"

if not enough people post in there then what good does changing the title of this thread do? absolutely nothing just like the past 509012038123 times the title got changed and people *****ed about it until it changed back

and now this thread is filled with off topic **** posts because someone decided it was a good idea to mess with the title again, when prior to everything was fine and people were sharing pictures of cool keyboards. GOOD JOB GUYS

If I ever finish building it, is my VE.A allowed?

every time you guys have tried to change it, even as stupid as removing the emoticon in the title, it got reverted. every time someone tried to make a new thread that was just 'post your custom keyboards' no one gave a **** and still posted here. just leave the thread alone and let people post whatever they want, no one is actually upset if you post a Jane in this thread but can you guys stop messing with things on the site that don't need to be messed with such as threads with hundreds of pages of history, including the title?
