[IC] - Ti switch tool finish
« on: Mon, 21 April 2014, 21:55:53 »

Top is A (picture 1): no extra finishing, laser cut edges, rough sanded finish from the laser cutter, some blow out around the holes

Bottom is B (picture 1): hand sanded by me, extra costs ($7), the inside forks won't be sanded since they're hard to get to, looks a lot like darker brushed stainless

I'm partial to B as well. Is there any usability difference having the legs sanded down as seen in B? What would the base cost be (roughly) that could then have $7 added on to?

Will there be a option to have them bent?

Since the ti stock was 14 guage, they need to be sanded down to fit into the switch tops. The legs no mater the finish option will need to be sanded

The base price w/o is $25 and they will be bent

Option B was my first choice thinking it would be the only option with sanded legs, but if they will both sanded I would be totally content with either. I would still probably go with B but definitely would not be disappointed by A.

B please

is this like a vote for everyone to get one finish or just to quickly gauge the ratio of orders?

I'm thinking everyone gets the majority option. I want these ready to ship once the sale is up

After missing out on the 420 sales I will be totally defeated if I miss out on these too, I've been looking forward to this for months! Any rough ETA on when we might see the sale? If you're not comfortable giving a date yet thats totally understandable.

Will you do the sale in the Group Buy subforum?

I missed the last sale because it was in your thread in the classified section :(

More than likely classifieds again since I'm just outright selling them without collecting first.

Thanks for the last reply!

Please announce the sale in this IC thread so I know when to look for it. Normally I don't browse the classifieds because most of the stuff is sold CONUS only...

Any word on how many will be made? Lots of people on GH would be down to buy at least a pair of switch tools. It would be great if it became a staple item here.  :-X

I believe in another thread The_Beast mentioned that 65 tools total were cut so Im going to guess ~35 sets will be produced. The people who ordered the 60% Ti plates got dibs on a set so the rest of us will probably see more like ~30 go up for sale.

Exactly. If I sell out, I'll think about another SS round

Sorry, what's SS mean?

Will this be going up anytime soon? (Sorry my intention isn't to rush this - just want to know whether or not I should start hunting around on classifieds or not).

You 'll know when you remove top housing switch on openable plate. I usually two tweezer curved, but it have more step to do that. After long time, you 'll feel tired & your act is not exactly. You 'll make copper plate curve....
Therefore i must be buy switch tools :(

Depends on the type of plate

You need the plate with special notches at the side of each switch slot to be able to use these switch tools on plate mounted switches

How about a sand blasted finish instead of a B finish?

It has a slight grippyness to it.

Sandblasted finish looks great. Honestly, I would probably chose that over anything else based simply on the fact you said it's easier to grip. When you're working with smaller tools and parts like these any little bit of extra grip really helps. If I get a set I was actually considering putting plasti-dip on the top part of the tool for that reason.

Yes, however, if you participated in the ti plate buy I ran, they DO get preference since I wasn't able to get these done at the same time as their plates.
