Will this be less than $500?

I love this layout but don't want to get my hopes up unnecessarily.

Woo! Looking forward to seeing how they turn out. I know people are really psyched for PC, but alu is what I'm in for so I'll be paying close attention.

Luckily stumbled upon an active thread with a 10key

Registered just to say that I'm definitely interested since i think the normal 1800 is too deep and I haven't seen much in the way of 10 key setups

Would probably be most interested in red or black

You're playing with my heart with the atomic purple... Recently changed the shell and modded my switch/joycons with atomic purple and I absolutely love the look. Hoping it's possible because that would be an insta buy for me. Now I'm wondering what keysets would go with it other than WoB.

IIRC, You mentioned that you would have two runs of the board. One for the PC version and the other for the alu version. If this is true how far apart would each round be from each other?

yea mid july is what i'm thinking. waiting on CAD files to make an adjustment to the case, then the 5 proto run will occur, then once those are verified i'll start the actual GB. Mid-late July is most realistic atm

Hope it's not too much of a bother to ask how that timeline's looking at this point. No worries if it has to be pushed back—I know you've got a lot of irons in the fire right now—just really excited for this one.

Protos in. They're great. Need to add ~1.0mm to the bottom case to raise it up a bit, bc right now the pins are too close to the inside of the bottom for my comfort. This can be fixed with e-tape/kapton or clipping/bending the switch pins, but that'd be annoying af. Will have one new bottom made for my eval and then we should be good to go.

Nice work!

No pressure but now that you have protos did you finalize thoughts on options etc?

Also how did the polycarb do

yea, poly is good. had to made a fix on that (bezel right below the enter key was too tall and would rub) which was fixed on these alu protos.

plan is:

Poly hbcp
Colors: clear & purple
No weight bottom, with reverse-engraved HBCP - the poly bottom with a weight had a bit too much flex around the weight for my liking. Plus the lightness is cool

Alu hbcp
Colors: Silver/black/maybe pink
Weighted bottom

Plates
Brass, full compat (ANSI/ISO etc.)
FR4 full - full compat
FR4 half - Maybe no ISO, but you can dremel an ANSI one to make it ISO. Just don't breathe in the FR4 dust

Alps plate will likely be a fixed layout for the most part. I know a few people want it, so I want to make it an option. It may add a decent bit (PCB fab for only ~10-20 boards isn't that cheap) but if people want to pay for it, all the power to 'em.

I'll release plate files too if ppl wanna mod their **** or make a tungsten nickle hydride WKL blocked with split caps lock plate

It will be! Aside from the half plate, that's only because of the extra 1u needed, it doesn't work super well I think

Probably, but I'm not sure by how much. The poly cost is rather high (about the same as alu, actually) because of the tooling and setup that the factory does.

Have you gotten any pictures or samples of the purple polycarb?
Very interested in seeing how that is going to look!

Not yet. We had some issues with the fab actually getting the sample GBC case (I shipped it out June 5, haven't had an update since) so I ended up finding a Taobao link (thanks to Accel/keebcat) for them to order one directly. That should arrive within the week, then a sample should be ready soon after.

I've actually abandoned my search for TX-CP in hopes that I'd get in on this GB. This way there's no need to pay ridiculous second hand market price.
