Funny thing about that. Donations to Geekhack aren't tax deductible, AFAIK. That means that, while I'm not keeping that amount each month, it is going to be reported to the IRS as "income" at the end of the year. Since I don't have any way to offset that "income" with an expense for Carpe Keyboards, I will probably end up owing a tax liability at the end of the year. I may have to start holding some of that amount back, to pay in federal income taxes.

Wow that is disappointing. Damn IRS.

On the good side though, a good amount of money will still be donated to GH.

Oh wow that sucks! I get why you would need to do that, and if you do I respect that decision and as long as most of it goes to GH it's all good!

Well, that's actually a good point. Even if I have to hold back a percentage to pay in taxes, more sales still equals more in donations. My goal is to break exactly even, which, if I figure the tax correctly, seems possible. And it's a fundraiser for Geekhack, so it's still a win.

Sorry, I've been so busy I forgot to update this thread. I had about a week delay in my plans, but most of these are sorted and ready to go. I'll start shipping these this week. I just signed up for a new shipping label service, so hopefully everything will import and labels will print without a hitch.

USPS tracking shows that my cap has been "Out for Delivery" for 2 weeks now. JD is going to send me another one for free to be shipped with the Feb set, which is very nice since the tracking information technically absolves him of having to do anything at all.
