I will close the order form tomorrow. After that, if you want to order, you'll need to PM me.

Thank you everyone for all the orders, and for the quick payments! As of right now, we have 83 orders for 145 sets, or a total of 290 keycaps, which will net a profit of $203 for Geekhack. Great success!

If there is a price break at the 150 mark (since different stems are probably different MOQs) then even buying out the difference might actually mean more cash for GH.

Yes, different stems are different MOQs, unfortunately. I will be buying some extras in case of shipping damage or whatever. I think the donation amount will remain in the neighborhood of what I listed, just because I didn't markup the caps a great amount.

And supporting GH along the way - nice one :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

China... How is it even possible that they are able to send international packages for 1usd, including the price of the article?

Could we consider a mini gmk group buy with an European proxy?
Thanks

Putting a key in a bubble wrapped envelope is maximum 4$ international non-tracked cheapest according to my relatives in America. From here, Norway, its just 2,5$ to send 1-2 single keys world wide(5-10 days untracked),(and we are an expensive country. A bubble wrapped envelope costs more than the shipping).

I am sure there is a reason that it has the 10$ price point. I could be wrong or I am sure there are pricing differences between states, or the hassle of CN22 customs form or better shipping. I am totally fine with paying that either way. The money goes to Geekhack!

I love the idea of this GB, thanks for running it JD!

Thanks, guys. Believe me, if there were a way to ship these overseas for less money, I would be doing it. But the rules are the rules, and the postal workers in my local area (30mi radius) know them well. I know that some people may have different experiences in their areas, but here in my area, I absolutely HAVE TO pay package rate for bubble mailers. Which means $13.50 for a 1-oz package to anywhere but Canada, which is $9.50.

    Quote
Dimensions, Shape, Flexibility, and Uniform Thickness (201.4.0)

    Dimensions:

Minimum: more than 11-1/2 inches long, or more than 6-1/8 inches high, or more than 1/4 inch thick.
Maximum: 15 inches long, 12 inches high, and 3/4 inch thick.
The length of a flat-size mailpiece is the longest dimension. The height is the dimension perpendicular to the length.

Shape: rectangular, with four square corners, or with finished corners that do not excced a radius of 0.125 inch (1/8 inch).

Flexibility and deflection: flat-size pieces must meet flexibility criteria in 201.4.3 and the deflection criteria in 201.4.6. Flats mailed at saturation or high density prices or flats mailed at basic carrier route prices and dropshipped to DDUs do not have to meet deflection standards. All other flats not meeting deflection standards are subject to prices as stated in DMM 201.4.7.

Uniform thickness: the contents must be uniformly thick so that any bumps, protrusions, or irregularities do not cause more than 1/4 inch variance in thickness (201.4.4). When determining variance in thickness, exclude the outer edges of a mailpiece (1 inch from each edge) when the contents do not extend to the edges.

Mailpieces that do not meet the standards for flexibility in 201.4.3, for uniform thickness in 201.4.4, or for polywrap in 201.4.5, must pay applicable prices as follows:

    • First-Class Mail—parcel prices.
    • Standard Mail—parcel prices.
    • Bound Printed Matter—parcel prices.

You guys are very welcome! I want again to thank everyone who is participating in this buy, both for supporting Geekhack, and for making everything from orders to payments run smoothly.

I already placed the order for the keycaps with Signature Plastics, and according to Melissa, the lead time for production of these is only four weeks. There is a good chance I can start shipping these to you guys before  the end of February!

Look for February's buy to start in about a week. I think I can keep the price structure the same next month. We had great support this month, and I expect nothing less each month going forward. I will probably add the option for international buyers to combine shipping for up to 3 orders, to save on the high cost of shipping compared to the keycap sets.

I will be making the donation to Geekhack soon, which this month will total $250. Thanks again, everyone!

What colors are we getting next week?

I haven't decided for sure yet, but I think it will be RDE on either RCS or RCR.

Can't wait! I'll be in for next month's buy as well!
I need more keyboards to hold all of these keycaps.

Yeah, I was thinking of doing purple on pink for Valentines. But maybe I should save that for December's buy so they would ship right before V-Day.

Great news, everyone! The keycaps are here! (I placed the order a little early, since I knew what tier we would hit).

I should be able to sort and pack these during the weekend of 20/21-Feb. Then I plan to start shipping them out the following week.

And I already made the $245 donation to Geekhack. Thanks again, everyone, for all your support!

That was the point with the small monthly GBs :)

    Great job JD,

It 's the other way around, thank you for setting up this group buy & helping out Geek Hack. I hope to make a contribution to the mechanical keyboard community soon. Thanks for your contribution and setting a great example for the Geek Hack community.
