Em.....I got one package return 2 weeks before and one package held from 13 until today comes out. Shipping agency should handle the custom process, if you directly contact them, make sure you got all correct information from the sender otherwise it might make it worse.

I've been happy with Websense from the administration side, but I had the ability to recategorize geekhack.org into an MIS/IT related category on our system. :D

Good, it normally take 1 week or 2 to get it out. Or, also have chance to return those back to China....

Odd.  Just got a letter from customs.  The packages are being held and need a "formal entry". I called them and it turns out, I have to drive down to Chicago and hand them paperwork in person.  Once that is complete, I can't even bring the keyboards back with me. They release them back to USPS for delivery.

That sucks.  Looking at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection info about filing an formal entry, it's not really clear at first that going in person is required but it does say "Bring the paperwork and bond to the CBP port, entry branch, and ask an entry specialist to review your completed forms."

That only happen when the sender did not chose qualify company or just send you via Chinese post office system, which would fall in to this trouble.

Next time, use DHL/FedEx, if you got like 10 or 15 poker package, they ship faster and cheaper. And most important it is , they are customer broker that could do the declare process for you.

One more thing, if you can not process those within 15 days upon the arrived date, it would subject to "holding fee" that add up very quickly.

The packages were sent via EMS.  They get handed over to USPS once they hit stateside.

I'm going to see if I can get a broker down in Chicago to do this for me. If not, I'll drive down early tuesday morning.

The right hand never knows what the left hand is doing.  Can't hurt to ask again to take final delivery of the keyboards while you are in Chicago.  Wow, our gov't is screwed up!

It is ironic, I just ordered special custom whisky glasses for my store, and it arrived from Scotland 3 weeks earlier than predicted.  Customs called me and asked what they were and what they were for -- the whole phone call lasted all of 2 minutes.  I wonder if the senders tried shipping it in without covering the proper fees/duties, or they suspect a profit on iMav's end and want a bribe! :censored:

EMS is provided by China post office system and hand to U.S post office system once hit the state, but Post office would not declare custom for you(sender would fill out a form, but just to tell the custom what it is), and it is decided to ship personal item. Once they declare the total value over 2000 dollar, it subject to formal declaration. Any way, good luck, it take a lot of working to get it out.

I'm headed down to Chicago this morning.  Based on my phone conversation with customs the other day, I give my chances at successfully releasing the keyboards from US Customs at 50%.

They seem dead set on burying me with paperwork.  Additionally, if they require proof of FCC certification, we are screwed.

I will update you all as soon as I have more information.

Our gov't making as much sense as ever:  If they are going to require FCC certification...they already let ONE keyboard through, the rest is just numbers!  Their carelessness may have already screwed our highly protected North American bandwidth!

I've been of the mind for some time now that if the keyboards ever actually show up, it'll feel like Christmas or a birthday because I've forgotten I spent the money!  =-D  It's hard to believe that US Customs would spend so much of iMav's time unless they intended to release the shipment.  Not that that should provoke any false hope, I'm fallaciously assuming that our government acts rationally and they've already proven that untrue a few times in this isolated incident!

Or maybe they want to give the drug dogs a few more sniffs at those crates?  Sniff away, Rover!

This is what FCC.gov says:

"FCC ID numbers are displayed on devices and indicate that the device has received a grant of authorization from the FCC. Manufactures of devices that posses the potential to cause radio frequency interference to other devices are required to meet the FCC technical requirements which may include the granting of an FCC ID number. The rules, located in 47 CFR 2.803 and 47 CFR 2.1204, require that most devices be authorized before they can legally be imported or sold in the USA. These rules also require that labels with the information prescribed by the FCC be affixed or accompany the device. Not all devices approved for sale and operation by the FCC rules require an FCC number however."

So, if its not likely to cause interference, then there shouldn't be an issue.
