That's a beauty. I have comfort in saying that there is better to come after letting go of the Orion. If I ever get another chance I may pick one up again. Thanks for the opportunity filphil.
I just noticed your sig is gone. Dear god what happened? That deal you mentioned coming to fruition?
Oh yeah the deal is set in stone and the board is on it's way to me.
I decided to delete my signature after thinking it through. A lot of people took it as bragging but all I wanted to do was provide links to my build logs. I see now that there's no need in advertising my collection.
Meh. Haters gonna hate. People commit to their hobbies in different ways. Can't let a couple of bad apples take away from what you enjoy. I do think the cleaner flickr account link is a nice move though.
Just to give my thoughts:
It never bothered me particularly, but I can see how it may bug some. Something they take months and months of saving for someone else purchases swiftly and seemingly without thought. Is it unnecessary lusting? Yes. But it's a tricky little thing to overcome.
I personally got mad at people who bought all kinds of video game consoles left and right just because they heard good things about it, had the disposable income, but never tried it themselves. I'm speaking of retro consoles in particular. Systems I lusted for as a kid but never had, and then someone else buys it like it's nothing and bashes it because it's "old."
I think someone who does it really well is Hoff. He doesn't "flaunt" it, but his collection is extensive
and expensive. Hell, he's so amazing he's begun sharing his collection with others!
