If you don't abuse it, a long while. People here still use hhkb pros which are from the early 2000s and people have converted even older keyboards which were used in news and cooperate area.

In comparison to Cherry mx keyboards ?

Cherry rates the life of their MX switches to be 50 million actuations. And, the same for Topre...

Topre used to be less.

Clones tend to be more.

In other words it is all made up.

Use your common sense here.

Clones all made in PRC - FACT.

Thorpe based keyboards REALFORCE and the new Leopold 980C Made in JAPAN - FACT.

Hence the Japanese made ones will all outlast the cheapo garbage made in the PRC - FACT  8) .

Topre is capacitive so won't chatter like normal mechanical switches do after heavy use.
So it will still function, but be aware that it won't feel like brand new any more.
With age, rubber stiffens making keys harder to press.
With use, rubber wears out and tactility reduces making keys feel more linear.
Most people don't mind it though.

not entirely true...
the rubber inside most topre keyboard isn't going to go stiff for quite a bit of time.
and unless you plan on using your keyboard for over 20 years its not really going to be an issue.
to enhance that statement i might ad that i recently took apart a 20 year old topre sony keyboard just to harvest the domes for my hhkb. just to try something different.

but that being said. all keyboard wear over time.
just depends on how you treat your hardware, and the abuse it receives.
