He actually answered emptythecache directly in this post.

Transcript...

emptythecache: Maybe I missed it, but what is the current status?

emptythecache: Does SP have our order?

7bit: YES.

emptythecache: Have they started production?

7bit: MAYBE.

emptythecache: If not, what is holding us up?

7bit: Preparing production (3900 different kinds of key caps)

emptythecache: Have we paid in full? (The answer to this SHOULD be yes, since we are almost a month after the "pay in full" deadline)

7bit: By the end of this week we are at 90% payment including shipping.

emptythecache: I really hope your answer has something concrete like dates, instead of "soon" and a repost of the leftover list. I've been waiting a very long time and given you a large portion of my money on faith. I'm not asking for my keys tomorrow, I just want to be assured we're making progress.

7bit: Production will take a month and a half and the only information I've got is they wanted to start with the DCS keys last week.

That was October 4th.
Like DeathAdder said, the scope of the GB was probably just too big.  But emptythecache, you are being impatient now.

I mentioned that answer directly in my post, for what it's worth. and yeah, I am probably being a little impatient. I was just saying its frustrating.

Have people forgotten this is R4?  Pay up then pray to baby jeebus each night that your keys will arrive.  They will get here eventually. Just chillax.

I paid up months ago, and know my keys will arrive eventually. I'm putting just as much faith in this as the rest of you.  But you know this is actually crazy, right? Handing a stranger hundreds or thousands of dollars, and then sitting for months going "nah, it's cool, I'm know it'll come through eventually," is crazy. Frankly, as much money as we've all spent on keyboards and keycaps is crazy in the first place, and the willingness to throw a big sum of money at maybe having keycaps months and months later is at least an order of magnitude moreso.

And deathadder, no my monetary risk isn't what 7bit's is, but that's because I'm not running the group buy. I didn't go out of my way to give myself that risk in hopes of profiting.

IMO I think it's just common sense that this thing is going to take a while / there might be some mix-ups / they can't answer every email.  Just look at the data at the bottom of every invoice and the sheer bulk of keys ordered...

I have wired over $9300 USD to SP in the two months I've been collecting cash for this GB. SP says that they have begun production of DCS profile keycaps.  Neither of the keycap sets I ordered will fully cover my current daily driver, and I'm kind of bummed about that.  There's all the information I have on the current status of this GB.

Hopefully lysol's dyesub replacement GB doesn't become the unofficial R5.   :D

That's the problem of all these non-standard mini-keyboards popping up in the last year or so. :D
I just hope the spacebar I ordered will fit my Keycool. I will probably have to look for a similar replacement if it doesn't

I wasn't trying to buy a korean board when i ordered initially, and I already reached the point I'm not willing to put more money into this GB.

A hearty Bump for this never-ending Group Buy!

Has anybody heard anything new?

As of about two weeks ago, 7bit told me via PM on deskthority.net that we are still waiting for our keycaps to be manufactured by Signature Plastics.   Anybody know an ETA on delivery?

All I can say is I hope ROUND FOUR  never ends, 'cuz waiting for 7bit is fun.

I don't think 7bit follows this thread anymore.  Best to pester on DT.

I looked at that thread the other day and I believe the latest word from 7bit is "no new updates".

He wrote that yesterday in the DT thread.

I was one of the original round 3 orders that needed an extra ]/} key (I got two [/{ keys). Originally I was told the extra would be coming in round 4. Any word on if this is still the case and where I can update my shipping address if so? Would like to know before I decide what leftovers to buy.

Thanks :)

7bit does not come here anymore, despite this technically being a community GB and the majority of investors in R4 are from GH.  :/  He is an odd bird, so just play along and contact him on DT.

are you asking if they are done, or if other people think they look nice? because i'm pretty sure the SPH sets were the last things being manufactured.

I did not buy into retro and I'm glad that I didn't.  I am still looking forward to the R3 style caps.  SPH was an impulse purchase.  They are going to look a bit funny due to the undersized shift keys.  Maybe it won't be that noticeable because of their height.  We shall see.

All of the DCS profiles have been done for some time.  You'll find SP's potato pics of them further back in the thread on DT.  Apparently, the SA profile is done using different equipment than the other profiles.  That is why other GBs have come and gone since the pics of the R4 DCS keys were posted a few months back.  7bit also split the DCS and SA orders and the DCS order went into the queue first.  It looks like SP's part in this is coming to an end.  Now it is all up to 7bit.

If we are very very lucky, there will never be a GB like this ever again.

If you are looking for a particular style from R4, there are other GBs coming that might fit the bill.
