[Update3] 4 people reached out to me about not receiving board. I have called and messaged 80 on wechat multiple times, and zero response from him afterwards. Looks like he is ghosting again. PM me if you want his WeChat number or QQ group number. Unfortunately, I did not participate in his GB payment collection or fulfillment and only helped him translate the post. So there is not much I can help with further. I heard in one china group that 80 is still planning to run a GB, if that is the case, I will let the GB participants to refrain from joining any future GB before refunding the 4 orders.
[Update2] I got in touch with 80, and he informed me that he thought all were shipped and was unaware of the few unshipped boards. His family members were helping him and they don't know English well. But in anyways, if you have not received your board (not a bad PCB or other parts, just the unshipped board), please PM me for details, and 80 agreed to refund or ship those unshipped items. Thanks. I hope this is resolved soon.

Last I communicated with 80ultraman, he mentioned he would refund certain amount to broken LED PCBs and all boards seem to be shipped. Given that he took over all the communication, I had not followed up with this, particularly after I considered this GB closed. It appears not the case. There are a few who have not received their boards. My suggestion is to email him again about refunding your money, and give PayPal another call and see what they can do. I'd be happy to share what I know about him via PM, which I would rather not share publicly.
Sorry for those who did not receive their boards. I changed the title to 99% shipped. I have been trying all angles to get in touch with him or his close friends and I managed to talk to a few people (he still has not replied directly yet). I put a lot effort to lower the overall height of this keyboard, make it lower than most custom and mass production keyboards. You can see from the picture, Doro with SA caps has the same height as Skog with GMK. I think this will give you a better experience if you prefer high-profile caps.
Layouts
I know a lot of you guys hate those "compatible plates", which full of holes make switches unstable. It is also important to me, I wanna the plate has a minimal cutout, make it clean and steady. As other layouts, since this is an integrated plate keyboard, fully customization will probably end up 10+ different version of the top case. That is not affordable. So, we decide to provide 4 top case versions.I realize this can't make everyone happy, but it is the best we can do.
PCB
After receiving some request for back-lighting, I added an in-switch RGB PCB cost extra $15. The RGB version only supports default layout. You can only choose Multi-compatible PCB if you prefer other layouts. All the switches of both PCBs are south-facing (led at the bottom). Both boards work with PCB mount-stabs (regular or screw).

The bottom IC shows that quite a few like the logo but seem to hate the text. I think it's weird simply remove the text. I decide to keep the logo as a default, if you hate it so much you can choose to not have it.

I'm not saying thid is necessarily a bad thing, it surely is cheaper to produce and thus available to a broader audiance, but I don't like having an open hole on the keyboard inbetween two switches for dust, dirt and maybe even liquid to come inside keyboard.
So, I wonder is there some kind of option where can I have just two 1U holes instead of default backspace, and if the answer is no, I'm just going to order regular ANSI.

Sorry, the plate is integrated. I talk a big time to have 4 different cutouts. Like I said, this can't make everyone happy. if you wanna something less universal, you gonna take some extra holes on the plate.

I made a prototype PCB before and fully tested but not matte black gold mask. RGB PCB will be made by my friend (a QMK contributor), so I don't think needs to have another PCB prototype.

Definitely make sense. but for me, I use my left thumb hit the spacebar, so I wanna that better a bit larger and right-er.
However, we have passed that IC phase. Let's just accept the spacebar the way it is.

I dont see your point. The first and the second both have chamfered edges, the difference are the bezel and how much of the chamfered. The final product will have the same look with the second prototype(the ones in the pic).

You're stating preference as if it were fact. Yes, north-facing LEDs are better for shine through, which some people like, but this doesn't seem like the kind of board you would be using shine-through caps with anyway, considering it doesn't have a diffuser or acrylic bottom for backlighting either.

Many consider shine through keycaps tacky. Background lighting behind your favorite GMK or SA is preferred. For those, south facing or north facing don't matter.
You're stating preference as if it were fact. Yes, north-facing LEDs are better for shine through, which some people like, but this doesn't seem like the kind of board you would be using shine-through caps with anyway, considering it doesn't have a diffuser or acrylic bottom for backlighting either.

It's not that they crack keycaps, but R3 and R4 of cherry profile caps will actually hit the housing on north facing switches just before it would normally bottom out. This creates a different sound and feel and can be bothersome to those of us who are easily bothered :) I am glad you went with south, I am super excited for the Doro!

I assume that just means the bottom will be brass with the Pearl White finish?No, Pearl White finish is only for the alu case. The PVD for the brass bottom slab. Hey, working with about 300 boards is a major undertaking for an individual, let's try to be patient. I am sure 80 is trying hard to expedite this. In all fairness, if he had charged a higher price maybe he could have hired a person to do this for him.
Anyway, just a messenger here trying to help out. Doing this pro bono and not charging a cent from this GB.

I'm a little unclear on the status of this GB. It sounds like 80ultraman is in China, has the packaging, and has at least started sending out the boards for the China GB. For those of us in the US GB, is he still waiting on anything from the factory, or has production finished for all parts needed to fulfill the US GB? Oldcat's 12/25 update stated that anodization was in progress at the factory, and that boards were expected to ship in 3-4 weeks (5 weeks ago). That didn't happen, but how far did they get? Did the anodization get finished? The updates have been a bit ambiguous; I'd just like to know where we're at. I appreciate that Chinese New Year is next week, but I don't have a sense of how much of a delay I should expect that to add to this GB (days? weeks? a month?). Some guidance would be appreciated.
Only prototype box is shipped to him.
All Chinese GB orders that were shipped were shipped without a box (only <30 from China, and most were still waiting for the box as they don't want to receive it without box), and they were one month before this GB so got shipped first.
I do not have an exact date I know items will ship, but I am pretty sure they will not be shipped before end of Feb. Factories will resume working after Feb 15.
I will get one of my 4 doros next week (again without box, stickers and other things, just a case and PCB), and should be able to provide some details on the PCB (I bought the regular PCB).

As stated above, there is an issue with layout 2 with split backspace. where one of the side is off 0.35mm. According to Gghi/80Ultraman, you can:
1. get a fully refund.
2. change to regular layout.
3. get partially refund for cannot built split backspace
=or-
4. shave the switch a little bit (see picture below thanks to konstantin)

Hmm hard to say, but these two switches sounds a bit different even without modding as there is a gap between them.
The modification does not touch bottom housing from inside, as I built it with gsus pandas some walls might have a different thickness because of the cut (~0.35 mm)

It's good - but is it better than 3204 or 205g0? I dunno, it's more like shaving cream so it's harder to overlube. Jury is still out for me on 129. I have a bunch of it and I'm testing it actively.

I ended up having to drill the screw head off entirely and then getting the stump out with pliers. None of the other typical ways worked. Gotta be careful with these small screws, not tightening them too much with this allen key.

the total lacking of communication , the "let take vacation in the middle of the shipping proces and plate problem" incident, a dosen of my e-mails that was ignored. that just smell like a scam to be honest.
i hold up because i really loved 80's design, even with that fault, and i know that delays some times are unpredictable and it is in the nature of the gb it self, but boy, this lacking of any response it's shade as hell

He probably didn't push it to the QMK repo, but 80 did give us a file - granted it came after the boards were sent out. However, I do appreciate the community stepping in and seeing that the appropriate files were available regardless.

1. Hex file: Cannot be edited by a user to change the keymap or examined without some extreme measures.
2. JSON File: Kbfirmware file that actually does not have RGB support.
Coincidentally the Hex file has RGB support. Which means it was not built from the kbfirmware json and from some other source, which was not released =(.
We recently implemented RGB Matrix which is a new and improved way of doing in switch RGB. By help from drashna and xulkul we were able to get the doro67 firmware (currently checked into QMK) to get RGB working using the new and improved way. I have some doubts the original source resulting in the hex file I mentioned above used RGB Matrix. So perhaps it was better we went this route.
The only reverse engineering we thankfully had to do was for the RGB. The json was sufficient to provide what the switch matrix looked like.

Some people "refreshed" the invoice about 6 months ago, e.g. when the first 6 months were going to expire, asked a refund and paid a new invoice which is a total new invoice, probably he didn't.
Everyone should ask for a refund if the keeb doesn't arrive before the 6 months mark and eventually pay a new invoice, because there is always a risk involved in any GB.
I'm afraid to say, if 80 doesn't answer/send (i doubt at this point), there is nothing you and the other guy can do over than just waiting.
I would suggest to contact paypal anyway, NOT because they will help you (they can't after the 6 months mark), but because they can eventually flag/report his account/bank account if enough reports are issued (that's what i suppose, regarding your money guys pp can't do anything). Sorry :(

Objectively it wasn’t a scam per se. Lots of keyboards were shipped out. Doesn’t change the fact that the people who didn’t receive theirs have every right to be furious. The problems started when the money ran out and 80Ultra disappeared. 😞

I have a problem with the daughterboard. Apparently the fabric base solder on the type-c was not strong enough and the connector was moving (making the keyboard disconnect continuously).
Opened it up and noticed the solder was so weak that i managed to remove the connector lol.

He is still active on wechat moments a few weeks ago, sent him a few messages last night and no reply yet.
I will see if I can find more info. Another way is to try directly calling PayPal. Will also follow up with a few people who personally know him in qq group to ask him to refund unshipped orders.
I recall he offered to extend PayPal protection by allowing to refund and recharge. I did not do the refund and recharge but fortunately receive the board (regular pcb) I purchased but feel really bad for you. I will message him again in a few days on wechat if I don’t get blocked.

I am sorry to say this, but ISO won't be supported on my PCB. Usually on PCBs the ISO enter stabilizer orientation is with the wire to the left side, due to the ANSI backslash switch pin. However, the Doro67 one has it the other way around, so I can't support both ISO and ANSI on the same PCB.
I have designed a new daughterboard that should fit in the doro67 as well. Next up is changing up the ta-65 of mine to fit in the doro67, and then it's time to test fit a prototype. It's coming soon!

Same thing happened to mine yesterday and I don't even use my doro. The soldering job is very poorly done on this. I have very little hope Ultra is active anymore to respond anyone and provide support for his product. So, I went ahead and ordered some flux paste (already have soldering kit) so I can clean up the daughter board and re-solder the usb-c connector. It's a damn shame tho.
