Please consider text icon mods - or a separate kit for it at least. A set this nice deserves it!

Keyboards / Novel Features?
« Last post by Snipeye on Wed, 15 May 2024, 09:56:53 »
One of my favorite things about building keyboards is doing weird and novel stuff.

For example, in a recent keyboard I managed to shove 30 encoders onto the PCB.  It’s not useful, but it’s a bit interesting. Other examples: infrared decoding so you can use a remote control, combining a mouse and keyboard into a single device, Hall effect switches for analog inputs, motorized linear potentiometers, solenoids, etc.

I’m looking for more stupid things to shove into a keyboard. Any ideas?

Keyboards / Re: Unpopular Keyboard Opinions

Not OP, but I've been rocking the 6 column Corne for the last few months. I really can't see myself needing anything more / less outside of curiosity and boredom. Staggered columnar with or without a numrow is probably the best bet for most folks looking to try out non-traditional layouts.
I meant key layout (dvorak, colemak, etc.). I've thought about trying something else out but I'd either have to get used to potentially swapping back to QWERTY frequently or buy another programmable KB to drag around. With physical layouts I think it's best to go with with whatever feels most comfortable.

im currently using the akko 5075 b-plus dracula with ks3 milky pro yellows and this thing is super buttery with xda caps. my only issue is the rubber feet keep coming off when im pushing on the board. next keyboards gotta be a heavier one tho 100%

first tip is to not get another glorious product, but id try the mousereview discord (or mousereview subreddit but i prefer discord cuz real-time) or boardzy discord. just measure ur hand and grip style and they will spew suggestions at you

assetto corsa no hesi has become soo addicting so run, been on it for a while and also been looking for a good steering wheel to use. does anyone have any good options? another good racing game ive recently been enjoying is night runners, its pretty much assetto but retro vibes.
i have a fanatec csl elite. cant comment on value for dollar since my uncle gave it to me for free but its really good, super smooth cuz direct drive as opposed to the cheaper logitech wheel (that my uncle also gave me lmao) but the logitech wheel is good if u dont wanna spend a lot. anyways i usually get advice from sim racing discord servers there are some really friendly and helpful ones out there

just so u know though night-runners doesn't support wheel, and i believe wheel support isn't planned either so far.

H5N1 among dairy herd gon' bananas.

From wikipedia, 2024, April, 50% of cats living on the infected farm, fed "unpasteurized" milk, died of severe systemic influenza infection. Concrete evidence of viral shedding in milk detected across several herds.

I mean, this is totes-seriouz.  Oat-milk, taste pretty gud', for a year at least, just, don't even, it's like, br0, the cats.

Most of us remember getting sick from drinking milk in the best-of-times, now with pandemic economy, inflation, worker fatigue, rebel labor faction politics. The industrial food system seemingly runs on diminished quality control.

Wiki- As of April 2024, the WHO reported a total of 889 confirmed human cases which resulted in the deaths of 463 people since 2003.

-- That's a pretty deadly coin-toss.

Keyboards / Re: Similar to the Kangaroo, but cheaper?

There are a couple of boards similar, but they are all seem to be out of your budget, I think the q12 is the best option here.

https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-q12-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard?variant=40403885326425

it's instock on the keychron website as well.
