Yes, ~18-25EUR is just for the 13x UWU keycaps. It is an add-on kit. Or you could use it standalone for a macropad.
MOQ for custom colors is 250 at GMK. So I am buying 250 Row 1 keycaps and splitting them into usable kits.
This way very low MOQ is ensured. It is cheap because Candykeys is taking a smaller vendor cut. I will likely just take a small cut to ensure a refund, if DHL loses/ damages a parcel (especially for international orders). Although I would prefer to run it just at cost.
Not sure who will actually use 13 R1 keys. The mono f-row looks horrible on frost witch.
I think it's pretty cool that you were able to split the MOQ like this but it's just a weird qty to sell
Also a little sketched out with a child selling these kits and basically buying them through proxy. It defeats the entire purpose of GMK having a vendor list
Still running through a real vendor. So no problems for GMK. Other vendors (Novelkeys) do this regularly. Even going as far as buying a whole new mold just to do some fancy custom novelty.
And I am really happy that GMK even allows such small community projects and doesnt say: “Only taking orders at $100,000 or above”.
I think that GeekHack and the community is built on projects like this. Someone thinks about something and makes it become reality. Some projects more meme-y (Greg, UWU, 2DGF) than others.
I would gladly just order 10 sets (with XT column rows) instead of 250. But sadly GMK isn’t SP.
This is the only way for this to happen. I did everything in my power to make this happen and it will happen. And I know that there is at least a handful of other people who want this.
Having only one color and only one row avail is a compromise to ensure that this does not fail.
I am pretty sure you understand that.
Some people love VIM above all and others do love UWU above all.
