It's kind of a bad example, lol...those totals were supposed to represent total investment to have those types of boards made. But all he's trying to say is that the stainless weights and carbon plates end up being quite a bit more expensive on a per unit basis compared to the brass and aluminum/steel plates, which is why the carbon is going up in price.

Xondat is still waiting on the prototypes to be made and shipped. Let that happen, and let him make any changes necessary at that stage.

I'm sure by then, you will be able to get a more exact figure for an estimate. Obviously for such a small run of products, the price is subject to change based on changes to design requirements, this is a given when you join such a niche group buy for what is essentially a very premium product.

I don't think the prices of anything will go up that much compared to the original estimate though, but if anyone really doesn't want to pay that little bit over the initial estimate, I think there are plenty of people in the line that would take the place.

I'm looking forward to seeing what the different colours look like, just to make sure that I still definitely want the grey over the black!

Unfortunately it isn't like I chose whether or not I wanted to raise the price. I simply can't keep the current price unless I want to use my personal savings (which is not happening).

I'm still playing around with what I want to do with the CE. I could make the brass weight but I'd have to do another poll and risk not everyone being fine with that. If it comes to people dropping out of a CE, or the other ones, due to price then so be it. The list of people that didn't get anything is over 30 at this current point.

I've dived in at the deep end with this design; perhaps I should've done a smaller, less complex custom first. Instead I've chose to do things that haven't been done before and personally I'm fine with that. If it takes lots of time to develop then I'm sure everyone would rather wait than get an unperfected product. X60 (and other projects spanning from this) are essentially crowd funded. I made a promise to everyone that you will get a board, and that board will be the best that I can offer with the resources available to me.

I'm not going to overcharge, but I don't want to **** myself like I did with my last group buy where I now have to dip into my savings because of some bad stuff. I don't want to put out figures as I don't want to constantly **** around with it but it's looking like $350 for Founders Edition/Standard and $400 for Carbon Edition. From my point of view, this is still cheap considering what you get, especially the Founders Edition/Standard.

The next update will be me confirming production.

SS or Brass is fine with me in regards to my CE order. I was preparing for the worst when a 'decent' price increase was stated. Although, it isn't as bad as I anticipated.

Is it safe to assume that the $50 deposit is going towards the overall purchase price?

I think the most fair approach would be to pose the brass vs ss weight to everyone in the CE and go with the option that causes the fewest to drop out. I'm also fine with either.

You absolutely shouldn't dip into your savings for the group buy.

The price increase isn't to bad imo, and I mainly picked Carbon because of the different weight.
I'm not a huge fan of carbon plates in terms of looks but decided to give it a try in term of the feels.

Yes, you agreed to pay the deposit knowing it was part of the overall cost.

Regarding stainless steel vs brass - I want it to be different, otherwise it just feels like you must have a black case to have a carbon plate. If the end price is something like $450 then I think that's unrealistic.

I'm the same... I would prefer that the stainless steel weight be kept for differentiation.

I'm OK with the price increase and price gap for the Carbon Edition. It makes sense to me because the stainless steel weight and carbon fiber plate are being produced in really low numbers. That's the price you pay for exclusivity

For the CE edition, if you go brass, you could infill the letters with a clear epoxy or clear coat making sure the rest of the weight is cleaned to bare metal and then use something like gun blue or liver of sulphur to put a nice dark patina on it. Gun blue should be able to get you a nice grey to black color that would contrast nicely with both the anodized aluminum and the brass lettering, and the only cost added would be for the finishing, which the shop might not charge as much for.

Both require a $50 deposit payable as soon as possible. Priority for the CE goes to Founders then Standards then everyone else.

Lowers the overall cost and also 70 is nothing to me. The only concern of mine is getting to the PO as I don't drive but I have friends that do.

Do you want an ansi only plate FoC? I was thinking that it seems like most people would only want ANSI from the CE list, but you were the one that jumped out at me. Could we switch CE to all ANSI if nobody in this group needs ISO support?

I made a form specifically for the carbon fibre plates following the responses from the people for the CE, fill it in here.

17 forms later, I think it's clear I will be able to have an ANSI plate. However, I'd have to keep it to 2 colors and stainless steel.

I would think most if not all people who use ANSI would want a ANSI only plate no matter which version they chose.

When talking about an ANSI-only plate are we talking about just skipping ISO-enter compatibility or are we talking about a standard (Filco-esque) ANSI layout only?

In case of the former, I'm interested (though, not at all keen on stainless). In case of the latter, not so much as I want to go full HHKB with split backspace and right shift.
