[GB] TANK V2/P1 (production)
« on: Fri, 27 May 2016, 13:55:47 »
Updates:

1/15/2017

Received most of the misc parts. There are exceptions preventing certain orders from shipping (may have to be split). Will post a more detailed update shortly or tomorrow. PCBs are all here.

12/19/2016

Received most of the group's cases. Waiting on ninjadoc's pad, misc parts, acrylic inserts, and PCBs. Two of the WK orders were made as WKL and TANK has told me that it will be remade, with ETA around the turn of the year.

Domestic shipping has incurred some unforseen costs (110 RMB for the first shipment of two cases, 170 for today's shipment of four). Once everything has reached me, I will tally up the total and invoice you all. Should be no more than $10 each. This buy is small-scale and I have 0 margins on it, otherwise I'd just pay for it from there. Thanks for understanding. Just checked the pricing below and apparently I did add $15 to each order. Huh. Looks like I'll be covering the additional shipping from that after all.  ;D

12/9/2016

Final stages of production and shipping within China. Most are complete apart from acrylic inserts and numpad plates. I received two of them today unannounced - mine and TerryMathews's. The anodizing is flawless and the finish is very smooth. My own plate had a couple small scratches which I don't really mind, but I'll post the pics for them in a bit. TerryMathews's plate appears to not have these scratches. Maybe it had to do with the color.

Small album of the two: http://sli.mg/a/jRohMq

10/19/2016

We have the boards numbered from 58 to 63. Currently it is confirmed that the first 20 or so have been anodized, and machining is finished for at least the first 56 boards. TANK posted a color album calling for last-minute color changes. Not sure if they'll be sent out from TANK before the end of October but it appears that we're nearing completion.

7/17/2016

Color selections were finalized and sent in a month ago. Just waiting on production now. There were 50+ sets from China so I expect this to take a while. If there are updates, I will post them here in a timely manner.

6/4/2016

All invoices are paid and confirmed. The money is being sent to TANK.

Waiting on finalizing the color and layout selections, then we'll be good to go.

Older updates:
More
6/1/2016

Last few minutes of the GB. This is TANK's first foray into the west, and there aren't a lot of orders, but they will be damn good.

Closed. Invoices/requests will be sent shortly.

Invoices sent. PMs sent as well regarding color options.

Chinese custom aluminum TKL + numpad kit. Comes w/ the case parts and PCB.

Order form

You can latch the numpad onto the left or right of the TKL to form a full-sized board, or just use them separately.

You'll get a brass connector plate for buying both.

PCBs are the authentic B.87 and B.pad from Hojin of winkeyless.kr.

You can choose a color for every individual lpart (except the brass connector plate, which is brass-colored), for up to 3 different colors per kit. See the color renders for color options, but you cannot specify them at this point in time.

Each kit will be numbered on the inside of the case. If you buy both the TKL and pad, they'll have the same number.

The Chinese group has voted to opt for the higher quality anodizing, at an increased cost of 300 RMB for the TKL and 150 RMB for the pad.

Cost of the TKL (V2) is 2699 RMB, and the pad (P1) is 999 RMB. Using Xoom's unfavorable exchange rate, the cost in dollars are $418.09 for V2 and $154.75 for P1 as of 5/28/2016.

Shipping cost of V2 is $50 by itself, P1 is $35 by itself. $65 when combined. Each order will have a $15 fee tacked on for when **** pops up, as well as misc costs. This is approx 3% of the total if you order a single V2.

End date: June 1st

Stripe preferred, 2.9% + $0.30 fees. Paypal not preferred, 4.4% + $0.30 fees.

Dwolla and Google Wallet available for US buyers, and has no fees.

Color options:

The parts that you can choose the colors for are:
V2: upper frame, lower frame, "lower support", plate.
P1: upper frame, lower frame, plate.

So let me get this straight...
$533 V2/P1 combo + $65ship + $15fee + 2.9%/4.4% DW/PP fee = At least $800 USD.
That's TWO VE.A's! And I thought one was expensive :/
Anyways, GLWGB.

Winkey is available. The renders don't show it though.

533+65+15=613. US buyers have two fee-less options. Stripe brings the total up to $631.

I think your math is broken...

@Lunaris, as usual, my shipping cost should be a little bit cheaper than shipping cost to US.

+2.9/4.4% is *1.029/*1.044. Did you do *1.29/*1.44 by any chance? :))

Question: originally, it was stated that the plate will allow switch top opening. The pictures you posted on 10/19 appear to not be cut wide enough to allow that. Can you check?

Just confirmed with TANK. The PAD supports switch top removal but the TKL does not. :|

Bump w/ update in OP

Fortunately, now that hotlites are known to make PCBs hot-swappable, losing the switch top opening is not as large of a deal as before (hopefully). :|

TANK wasn't well-known outside China. Still isn't, actually. And the price tag is high for a TKL/pad combo. Still, a bit embarrassing to sell 6 (myself included) when there were like 58 orders in China. ._. But there wasn't much time to promote the kit either. Bleeeh

Misc parts arrived last night. Good news and bad: one of the brass connectors (for keeping the V2 and pad together) is missing, along with the pad itself. Looks like it was never produced.

So two major issues: missing one pad, and one of the top frames was made in WK when it should've been WKL. The other one has been resolved (the red).

Will update w/ specifics and contact the affected folks via PM in about 5 hours when I get back.

The rest that can be shipped, will be shipped tomorrow.

My bad for not updating. Plans were to ship them out on the 15th (before my planned flight on the 16th) but I called my local freight guy to pick them up and he told me they stopped taking packages due to Chinese New Year's. Earliest they can leave my place is Feb 3rd, with tracking about a week after that.

Sorry 'bout the lapse in updates. I was hoping to get the boards shipped before leaving China but that didn't work out. My flight back is on the 22nd, and school starts on the 27th, leaving me a couple days to pack and ship. Took a break from GH and this has dragged on for quite a while, but it'll be wrapped up soon.

IMSTO is very much legit. He's under a lot of pressure from the Chinese community as well (while being almost equally hard to reach) to wrap up his GB. The termination of his relationship with Gateron really ****ed things up for him it seems.

Long time.

The parts that are missing/should be remade are still being remade.

I'm going to tally up what I have currently and (finally) send them out.

Lotta stuff has happened in the meantime, both personally and in the mkb community. Now we know that the shop in charge of TANK is working on Mira which is pretty neat. I also put together my own in the meantime to make sure every part fits and I didn't miss anything (found a small issue with screws for the plate which has been remedied).

If anybody wants to sell theirs off in light of the recent surge of buys, let me know and I'll facilitate it so we don't have to waste extra money on shipping multiple times internationally (and take on the increased risk).
