PLZ HELP Pro Micro detection issues....
« on: Fri, 10 March 2017, 03:53:26 »
Hi all, I have recently purchased a Pro Micro controller because I am trying to convert my 1392595 terminal model m to USB, but have no signs of life in the board. When I plug the Pro Micro into the computer, nothing happens, at all. I don't get a message indicating that it is trying to install driver software, and I have checked device manager and do not see anything listed that could be it. I have tested the cable and know it works, I am also sure that I have plugged it in correctly.     Do I need to try the sketchy oven method? Or just purchase another board? Sorry for the nooby question, this is my first post here.

I would greatly appreciate any help that I could get. Thanks!

You're converting a terminal board so I guess we're talking about Soarer's converter. Has the Pro Micro been flashed with Soarer's? Is this a 3.3 volt or 5 volt Pro Micro? If it's a 5 volt, is J1 bridged with solder?

Hi and thanks for the quick reply, the board has not been flashed with soarer's yet and J1 appears to have no solder on it.  Flashing the board with soarer's would be my next step if I could get it working first. Thank you again!

Solder J1 - It must be connected for 5 volt operation.

Flash Soarer's onto it, then you should be good to go.

A PDF of the schematic can be found here and you can find J1 in the upper left corner with a note that it should be closed for 5 volt operation.
