Additional kits for Round Three.

Please visit the new thread to vote for kits and
give quantities of how much you would like to order.

The following is obsolete:

If you don't find here what you were looking for, please post a reply to the main thread!

All prices are maximum prices for 1 of 25 sets, except if stated otherwise.

For kits with $??-prices, please be patient.

1. POS kit   @ $18
  • double-space-keys which can be mounted on top of 2 switches:

SPACE, SHIFT, ENTER, BACKSPACE, FUNCTION, DELETE,
COMPLETE, SELECT and a blank, or two. (to fit into any row or column, all black)
  • single spaced keys (all in black):

TAB, ETC, (QWERTY-row), 2xCONTROL (or CTRL if CONTROL does not fit on a single key),
2xALT, 2xWIN, MENU, HYPER, SUPER
  • 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0 (for top rows, in grey)
  • ... and some more keys.

2. Orange kit   @ $10
  • W, A, S, D, E, F, R, G
  • R for Colemak (ASDFG-row)
  • maybe additional Dvorak keys for normal WASD-position,

if there is some demand in that set (see Round 3 main-poll).
  • 4 arrows (cursor keys)
  • FORWARD (FORWRD, or FORTH, or FORW), BACK, LEFT, RIGHT (cursor keys)
  • FIRE and arrow up for POS or Terminal-boards (cursor cross)

3. Toy kit    @ $??
  • orange key-cap puller with inscription
  • other extras?

4. Top-row supplement kit for cheapskates    @ $5
  • `~ to =+ (13 keys of the number row of Standard set)

This is intended for those who have a Round 1 set with off-center top-row keys, and want to buy a national layout set, only.
[/LIST]

5. ES kit   @ $10
  • ¡This will include both layouts for Europa y América del Sur!

6. FI kit   @ $14
  • same as NO, AT/DE/SE-layouts

7. NO kit   @ $14
  • same as FI, AT/DE/SE-layouts

IMPORTANT:
If you want AT, DE or SE-layout, please vote for it in the main thread!
If you want FI or NO, please vote here, so I can see if one national layout sticks out and could be offered in a reduced (cheaper) version separately.

Please notice that this kit covers Austria, Germany, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Please tell me if you like it. Don't hesitate to suggest changes. Please be as specific as possible!

Layout-schemes are comming soon!

As for the color-question, if there is no consensus about a different direction of color, it will be the same as in round 1.
update: As it turns out, it will be the same as Round ONE!

Please post corrections or wishes regarding those kits here.

If you want to add wishes to other kits not listed here, or want new kits, please add suggestions to the main thread!

Need the ESDF, but am I the only one not into the orange color of the orange kit?

Maybe something a little more subtle like a slightly lighter gray...?

That FI-kit is realy over-kill... I don't know if there acctualy exist one keyboard with finnish-multilingual layout... Full SW/FI-layout would do the job... So, it's bit moot point, still could change this option to SW/FI inluding Alt Grs...

The best thing would be, you take the graphic from wikipedia and edit it according to what you think is best and then post it here.

Orange, lighter grey, red, ...

The cheapest solution would be the black tone intended for the modifier and function keys.

Standard SW/SE/FI will do, including Alt Grs aka. @£${[]}\ |~

It's same as Swedish, might be able to give two options on these so one without those and one with. If there is population who realy want those like I do.

I think, from votes and posts, orange is much more likely to happen.

Maybe I will set up a poll on that.

+1 for the Orange

Taking pre-orders yet? This is looking awesome, keep it up 7bit!

I'm assuming this kit will work well (layout, size of function keys) with the new boards EliteKeyboards stocks in Jan/Feb.

Thanks again for doing this 7bit.

Orange is so sexy.

I think that at least the spacebar is a bit different on the Leopold keyboards compared to Filco/Ducky keyboards.

Now I get it what you meant with 'light theme user'. Actually, I have a grey background, with black text, blue links, like in 1995.

Sometimes, when I allow pages to choose their own colors, I get really shocked how ugly and unreadable some sites are.

wooha! Blue text on light gray, wtf uses that?

Ahhh...! Much better!

Well, SH*T. I plan on buying a Leopold black kb w/ cherry browns from EK when they come out, and wanted to put these keycaps on it.  I would imagine ROUND THREE will be shipping around the same time the new keyboards come out at Elitekeyboards.  Is there a way we can confirm wether it'll fit or not, and if it doesn't, 7bit, any chance of getting that extra spacebar made?

Does the POS kit no longer come with F13-F24? That was one of the primary reasons I was interested in this, as I wanted to replace my relengendable keys with those.

Besides, my F keys aren't double shot like the rest of the board.

Might be the same difference as between Filco and normal Cherry spacebars.

Filco top, Cherry bottom (with extra stem glued on to fit the Filco)...

This is where I base my information about the spacebar:

Quote from: sixty;263855
Btw, while we are at this. We should also make a special spacebar/second spacebar for the new and upcoming Leopold boards since sooner or later a lot of people now ordering the set will end up with those. They are entirely different from Filco/Ducky/Cherry. I can measure out mine later if this order sets off before the public launch of those keyboards.

Help out Panda-R with Round TWO.

As of now, they (Signature Plastics) do only one style of font (though Ripster has a different opinion on that). Also, I love it that way. A clean, readable font.

I think the Arial font is the best ever.  Screw New Times Roman.  LOL

If we stick with this common font from SP think of the possibly endless combos with different colors for keys.   (ie your Function keys can be one color, Letters another, Numbers a third, special keys a fourth.)

The chance it will be the same font as round 1 is 99%. The chance that it will be that Selectric typewirter helvetica is 0.999999%, now guess what chance any other font will have for round 3!

Anyway, I will enquire on that font issue at SP on Monday, that's promised.

No one (I'm afraid not even Panda himself) knows what direction Round 2 will take. The font question for Round 3 can only be thicker or sort of Helvetica, etc.
But size and position are fixed.

BTW: signatures current font isn't truely Arial and IBM-s Selectric-s font isn't truly Helvetica. Both were adapted to the requirements of readability and production.

In wild-live, both Helvetica and Arial, haven't got rounded edges, to start with.

Yep. The SW/FI layouts are the same, sometimes called "SF".

I have not been in on round 1 or 2, so I am not that interested in getting a kit myself, but I would like to offer a suggestion anyway:

Would it be inexpensive to add two extra keys to the SE/FI or NO layouts? If so, then perhaps  you could merge those two into one.
The difference between SF and NO layouts is only how the letters Ä/Æ and Ö/Ø are drawn. The Danish (DK) layout is almost the same as the NO, but with Ø and Æ swapped and a different shifted symbol on the key to the left of 1.

Some keyboard vendors, such as Steelseries, don't have different layouts for Sweden/Finland/Norway/Denmark - they print both letters on those keys. Others have included a few extra keys and a key cap puller with their keyboards.

Pretty much what I have meant, also German layout has lot of common between Nordic-layouts.

Might have to see if those alternate symbols are possible, one way if other printing methods are available is to make them "IBM style" meaning some other technique to side of key cap.
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

I'm already thinking of that. First thing I thought Ekaros wanted the full layout with all those diacritics and extra labels on A-Z-keys.

Would be helpful if you post diagrams with those labels you actually want, because it is a bit difficult for me to know how those keybaords are actually labeld (I can only look at these Wikipedia-layouts). I got also a response from some German GH who wanted [ { } ] somewhere on those 1-9,0 keys. I will add that to that layout as well.

Please understand that I use US-layout for most of my life and not even know the German layout, except for that weired swap of Y and Z plus ( ) being in wrong places, plus lots of keys missing which are necessary for programming.

OK, so it's part of the function kit. I thought you'd made noises in the other thread that you were going to make it part of the POS kit, since those are the boards that tend to have those keys.

So the function kit is a definite yes? Since it's not in the poll.

If only POS-ers want F13-F24, then I will put it into the POS kit. But maybe POS-ers are interested in those other Function keys as well?

I meant this particular poll. I really did think it was part of the POS kit. Sorry for the confusion.

Too many polls for me to keep track of, I guess.

Anyway, thanks for doing this!

I did not close the main thread. Currently there exist only 2 polls.

Too bad it isn't possible to have more than 10 options in a poll and too bad it is not possible to add options later...

I asked for more wishes, but nobody cared (except for that face-discussion):

preparation for additional poll

A full set (104-key US-ANSI-layout) costs $57.49 (25 sets) and $40.39 (50 sets).

I will collect these whishes for the next poll. However, the majority wants orange for the gamer keys and main-color scheme will be the same as Round 1, because 12 want it so and only one is against.

If there are 25 sets to be ordered, a full batch of 86 keys costs around $25.
These are maximum prices with some air in them to add additional keys to these sets. Once everything is settled and no more keys are added to sets, it will be the exact price SP takes for the exact amount plus some percentage for the key caps collators and shipping to them.

Are we to ignore the positions of keys on this layout? Fire, forward, etc will have the wrong profile.

If you're proposing a full set as above, won't we need extra blanks to replace those keys with legends that we don't use?

Currently, this set includes only those keys for which there is that frame with rounded edges. All other positions are empty. There might be additional caps added.

FIRE is for IBM-122-key style cursor cross (think of G80-8200 or G80-2100 etc.)
Do you want cursor-keys for the numpad, so 5 becomes FIRE etc?

The FORW, BACK, etc. keys will fit the usual cursor-T, becuase bottom-row and ZXCVB-row are the same profile.

It is the Nordic kit. Vote for FI kit in the poll.

Currently it is the same as DE, SE, NO etc. But if there are enough people from Finland, I will make a dedicated FI-layout which may could be cheaper that this nordic kit.

Seems to me there are more people from Finland interested in their national layout than Germans.

BTW: I will add the missing keys for Norwegian layout. I had forgotten them, and Ekaros, only being interested in FI-layout did not complain!

Anybody interested in those 2 additional keys to make up DK layout?

Any other national layouts?

There are actually 3 keys which differ.  That one with the section mark, to start with. In DK-layout it swapped position with 1/2 against some other nordic layout, which I can't tell apart anymore. Then, there is a key with ` and ' plus |

Do you really need this?

Then there is > < \

Do you need this as well? Aren't just plain > <  or > < | enough?

Why on earth must there be different positions for puctuation keys amongst DE/DK/FI/NO/SE ?

Can't they just stick to one layout?

Wouldn't it be sufficient to have those A, O, U with spots, circles or slashes, plus that AE-ligature?

No?

OK, OK ....

Please be patient, I will update Nordic layout tomorrow.

PS: if you really order 10 sets of that layout, it will get a reasonable price.

PS/2:Big-ass enter? Do you mean that stupid L-shaped Enter by any chance?

POS kit will be at $18 if 25 sets are being produced (which is very likely!).

POS keys will have row-3 profile (as I understand that is ASDFG-row).

It is also possible to do these keys for e.g. the top rows which would fit mayby better as most of them will go into there.

Interesting - row 3 is +7 degrees and row 1 is -1 degrees. Does doing them all as a single profile cut down on the cost? I don't really have a preference, but row 1 might be a bit more flexible, even though most of the keys in this set have origins from the rows with positive angles.

She gave me prices for row 3 but did only say it might be more costly if these are for different rows, not for one row. You brought this up, so you decide!

I take that row 1 profile is for the top-rows, right?

I always get confuesed about row-counting. For what ever reason, I count bottom up starting from 0. (This is also the row-counting in my software to porduce those layout-graphics.)

Their page claims that DCS is 5 1 2 3 4 4, which is odd since in Ripster's pic the first two are identical.

In any case, doing them all as one row is fine. If row 1 cost is the same as row 3 cost, let's do them all as row 1 profile.

That is the reason why I am so confused. Because I have the round 1 set, I found out that both top-rows are the same and both bottom-rows are the same as well (which is shown by ripsters pic as well).

When talking to SP, I always use the terms
top-rows, QWERTY-row, ASDFGH-row, ZXCVBN-row, or bottom-rows.

I think...
Ripster's pic includes the function key row.
Function keys are pretty much always the same as the number row, so SP's graphic doesn't show them.
SP's DCS graphic shows two different profiles for the bottom row; the last two profiles shown are not two rows. So it goes 1, Q, A, Z, Ctrl, Space.
For the other families, isn't the bottom row normally the same as the ZXC row? (So it's only the space bar which has a different profile).

Yeah, my pic is just like they are on the keyboards.  Anything else seems a bit silly IMHO.

In any case just saying to do it like the last order should work.  And give them feedback they should fix row 4 to be less angled.

When I place the order, every single key will be on a layout-sheet in the correct row. On top of that layout-sheet there will be the exact color-codes for background and foreground, key-family and what keystem these are for (Cherry MX).

If something goes wrong, we will have no difficulties to sue them.

About that row-4 angle: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and they'll do any angle you like!

Hmm, I just noticed one small and useless cosmetic detail. "Lack" of Alt Gr-key... Not that there is any real need for that Gr... Just came to my mind, from other thread...
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

I don't know now if the Modifier kit is overcrowded, or not.

However, there will be such key and it will be labeled:

ALT GRAPH

I include it only because it is part of the Sun layout!

I don't know, but maybe this should be thrown in local-layout kits... As it seem to fit UK too... Might need to take some comments on this where one does belong...

Adding such a key to Nordic set, costs extra $-s.

I'm not sure how many sets of the Nordic kit will be ordered. These $14 are very tight, now.

There are less than 25 votes for all national layouts together! At the moment, the only 2 which would make it into production are UK and that Nordic layout. If these where all separeted, I would be sure not even German layout would make it at a reasonable price.

BTW, I plan to set up a new poll where everybody can vote for quantities, maybe some take more than one set.

Are the orange WASD keys going to have the arrows on the front face? I kinda like having the arrows there, and wasn't sure what the plan was.

I am actually not really understanding the description of the different kits. And my original question is regarding the modifier key (shift, tabs, enter and backspace and winkey). From my understanding the standard kit offer those as full words. I grew accustomed to the symbols that one find on OEM branded keyboard and I was wondering therefore if there is a kit to include those symbols. Like on that picture Ripster posted:

Sorry for asking questions so late.

Not too late at all! The list is not definite and there are rooms for additional keys to be added to same of these kits.

Because these symbols are already in stock at Signature Plastics (the manufacturer of the key caps), they will not cost more than keys with text on them.

We had 2 additional diamond-keys (Sun Layout) included in Round 1.

Along with the 2 Windows flag keys and that tool-chest key (or menu), these would be 5  (1 1/2)-sized modifier keys.

I will think about their price and add them as an extra tonight or tomorrow.

It's from keyboardco.com not very cheap, but I love it, still it's SW/FI not DK... There is a few minor differences apart from ÖÄÅ...

I dont care about the keycap labels, as long as the keys are where they should be when typing, id prefer a blank one actually
