I've just managed to join in this group buy despite only recently registering with geekhack.

I've also just finished reading all 64 pages of this thread, and hats off to Ivan for having the patience and persistence in getting this buy together, politely answering the same questions over and over again. I think that someone used the phrase "herding cats" earlier on in the thread and it sounds about right :)

Regarding the interesting digression on marking up slots in the group buy, my personal take is that from what I've seen on GH so far, it's not the 'done thing' during the middle of a buy, no matter how long the buy might take to get done. I probably would have backed out of it had my transaction turned into a bidding war (not because of the cost, but because I don't want to deal with the drama), and given the recent demand this was certainly something that could have happened. The market might be an efficient regulator of supply and demand, but the market is not necessarily a nice place to hang out (and I have spent enough time with people at the sharp end of the financial markets to be very emphatic on this).

Anyway, so Ivan, any chance of the blank sets shipping early as they don't need to be printed*?

I can't seem to find a decicaded thread for my question but here we go.. Can someone enlighten me a bit? Like I said before in this thread that I've left Cherry boards behind and I'm willing to transfer my order away. What steps do I need to perform so I won't ruin anything up? Like, giving a new address and information to Ivan and show him a proof of payment and tell new person about the progress. Thanks :thumb:

Just put want to sell (set style) in here and hopefully someone will take it off your hands. Once they paid you just inform me and I will change your info to theirs on my order sheet so it gets sent to the new person once they are ready.

Thanks for making this case clear! Anyone who's interested in black blanks (ANSI), you can PM me and I'll arrange things from there on. I'll be selling the set for a user that contacts me first. :P

EDIT1. Price I paid for the set was $55. I'll let this go for $55 + $3 and fees. Can't seem to remember how much I paid for the international shipping but it doesn't really matter now, I can't view my PP log that far away.

I'm doing the same. Took over two sets and plan to switch out a Blank set for one of the other GBs happening at the moment.

So if anyone else wants to take over a blank set: $55+3+coverage of paypal fees, and any difference in shipping to Ivan.

First post! (been getting lots of good advice from this board as I've been researching switches/caps/keyboards, so thanks :) )

I'd be interested in buying one of the blank sets if anybody decides they choose to part with them.
If I can't find anyone to buy those from, I might get these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA2C517C9755&cm_re=blank_black_key-_-9SIA2C517C9755-_-Product

Anyone know if those are any good? Maybe in-between ABS and PBT in terms of quality? I could live with that.

See you around.

Well if you want people giving you more insights about the POM keycaps, I think it would be better to create your own thread in the keycaps part of the forum. It is not really nice to hijack this thread. ;)

POM are more "teflon-like" in texture. It's a tough, dense material that's a little more pliable than ABS, but harder wearing. I have the 84 key set of the same caps you linked to and I love them, but they don't compare to these. Firstly, they're OEM profile, these are Cherry, secondly they're medium thickness, these are thick, thirdly they're POM, these are PBT.

PBT are more "ceramic-like" and also very hard wearing.

POM give the deepest sound / absorb the most higher frequencies. Usually the heavier the cap, the more it absorbs, though, so they may be about the same in terms of sound (the Keycool POM and these thicker PBT).
Buying more keycaps,
it really hacks my wallet,
but I must have them.

CNY isn't over in China- factories tend to close down for longer than the handful of days that make up the 'official' CNY.

For Americans, you can think of it as  a combined Thanksgiving and Christmas where factory workers pile onto trains to visit their home villages. Factories would shut down for a couple weeks, and then production only ramps up slowly afterwards.

Even mom and pop stores in Hong Kong (far more Westernised than China) are closed this week.

That has to be the most simple yet accurate description and comparison of the texture of PBT vs POM. Thanks - I'll have to remember to link to this post if I see someone ask.
