Background Story

Greetings to you, the lucky finder of this keyset, I shake you warmly by the hand! Many wonderful surprises await you! For now, I do invite you to come to my factory and be my guest for one whole day - you and all others who are lucky enough to find this set. I, Zambumon, will counduct you around the factory myself showing you everything that there is to see, and afterwards, when it is time to leave, you will be escorted home by a procession of SA keycaps.

Inpired by the 2005 motion picture adaptation of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Amazing Chocolatier will take your keyboard into the most famous chocolate factory that has ever existed.

Although my idea was to make three of these variants (Blue, Red and Brown). It would be impossible and some novelties wouldn't look great. In addition: three variants means that base kits are huge since they have to contain the non-standard, winkles, etc mods.

So I opted just to do Whipple-Scrumptious Fudgemallow Delight since it was by far the most elegant of those 3.

FAQ

Quote
Does [insert a kit] include [insert a keycap]?

All kits include ***only*** the keys pictured.

Quote
I have an ISO board, which child deals would cover my board?

You'll need the base kit + the ISO kit (which includes an ISO enter and 1.25U R4 Shift) and **either the UK kit or the NorDe** child deal + any other additional kits (Numpad, Tsangan…).

Quote
Does ISO include UK keycaps?

No it doesn't.

Quote
Are the Corsair Strafe and Logitech G710 covered?

No, Signature Plastics doesn't manufacture 6.5U SA space bars.

Quote
Is this a Group Buy?

No, this is an **Interest Check**. Kits are not final.

Quote
Was Esteban bitten?

No, Estaban was chewed.

Looks great, nice retro vibe. I will say that it does seem odd that CTRL is the only modifier not spelled out.

What do you mean? Isn't that always the case? "Alt" isn't spelt out, either.

I opted for the standard way. The only place where you can read "Control" is on the caps lock replacement keycap.

Perhaps, but look above and you'll see a Function key, usually I see Fn. That sort of pushes the modifiers over to being spelled out at that point. Also Alt could stand alone as just alt rather than alternate but either way I think this is a very nice looking set.

I have always wondering what the SA profile keycaps look similar to. Now I know, they look like candy/chocolate, confirmed by this design

Wow, that's beautiful! The only thing I'd like changed is the dots and rings on ĹÄÖÜ and so on. They should be a little bit bigger :)

I have compared the TGH color chip (alphas) with Lindt Chocolate and they look exactly the same.

That's a render issue, so you shouldn't worry about it since the set would use Signature Plastic's standard font.

I'll fix those legends tomorrow

It wasn't intentional, today I didn't have classes and finally got some time to write the IC posts.

Even though I'd like to have this set done as soon as I could, it would be the best not to rush since the IC will solve some issues that I haven't noticed.

White is really nice, but that Golden Ticket yellow is amazing! Would make an amazing Escape key, for us vim users.  ;D

I thought about instead of having those R1 W in different colors, I could add a red Elevator, for instance.

I like this a lot, been after a dual tone brown & cream set for a while.

Retro came close.

Something higher quality than the OEM coffee set that was recently done as it's the closeness to coffee in theme that's the draw for me.

Roald Dahl hated the 1971 version and it took Warner Bros 15 years to get the film done since Dahl's heirs had to approve the direction, script, and even the cast.

The project was started in 1991, multiple directors were considered for the film as well an actors such as Bill Murray, Nicolas Cage, Jim Carrey, Michael Keaton, Brad Pitt, Will Smith and even Adam Sandler where considered for the role of Willy Wonka.

Holy wow.

Well, I liked the result. Sure, there were some unnecessary additions (Wonka's father, the perverted jokes), but overall I think it was much better than the original film. It followed the book more closely, albeit modernizing some aspects--the songs used the lyrics right from the book, and even the title of the film is correct.
I've had many arguments with older people regarding the two films, who've said the recent film is not as good as the original, and when I asked if they read the book they'd say "no."

Well, the International and UK kits doesn't include the Alt Gr legends, so it wouldn't make much sense to include one.

Alphas are TGH with TM legends, modifiers TBN with WCK legends (TM legends didn't look good on them).

I think that space bars should have their own child deal.
