KMAC Happy Modifications
« on: Fri, 07 March 2014, 01:55:38 »
Hi all,

So I received my first ever KMAC yesterday and I love it! I'm not a huge fan of the red finish so I have a plan:

1. Remove Case
2. Desolder switches from plate (probably won't be me doing this)
3. Have plate and case stripped back to the raw material
4. Have a clear anodise applied
5. Rebuild (again not me)
6. Whack Scarface caps along with the Nostalgia set when that arrives

My question is, what is the KMAC Happy case made from? And is it CNC milled or cast?

Here is the starting point:

It's milled aluminium. Not sure what grade.

It's milled.

I don't think anyone has ever cast a case.  Not sure you'd want to cast a case either.

Bare in mind that it's anodised, not painted. Make sure they don't try to strip the paint off it..

Ah right, that's good. I believe anodising shop is the correct term ;D Let us know how it goes - I need a decent anodiser in the UK.

I will, the guy seemed a bit confused at first but I should be going down to see him next Friday if everything goes to plan.

Just got to decide on the colour!
