Convex spherical surface keycaps?

I was about to get some keycaps with convex surface, kind of like DSA without a dish. But surprisingly all keycaps out there have either concave surface or with a big flat top surface.
Now I'm really confused. Ok, I understand that concave is sort of historical way, just like staggered keys, etc. But nowadays there are a lot of manufacturers who do custom stuff. Why not they work out a better surface? Sounds reasonable? I mean almost every button in the world, except keyboards, have such surface and it feels right.

So do such caps exist? DSA is probably the closest to what I want, so basically I want smth like DSA with very slight bulge instead of the dish. And with Cherry-like rows profile.

I think a convex keycap would be pretty difficult to type with.

For any long typing session, I’ll rest my fingers on the keys as I’m thinking about what to write next. For long gaming sessions, I’d also be concerned about mistyping (from sweaty fingers sliding on to another key) and potential pain/strain from having the key bump pushing into my finger’s pad for long pressing.

I wish that there were keycaps for the modifiers on the bottom row in the Space Bar's profile. There are on my vintage Dell AT102W, but I have never seen it for Cherry.
The closest I've found has been Signature Plastics' G20 profile, but that is actually flat (slightly angled) with rounded edges.

There are arcade buttons using Cherry MX switches inside that I think have slightly convex buttons but I'm not sure, because they look almost flat. Those are much too large to fit on a keyboard though.

BTW. The convexity of finger-keys do help with accuracy.

Yes most separately sold sets don't have convex bottom keycaps strangely, but many stock keyboards have, I have a4tech X7 whole bottom row convex buttons.

The keyboard world can be surprisingly conservative in some ways. It's ostensibly a very vibrant market, but much of that is people all wanting tiny variations of the same old stuff, with not much incentive for companies to try new things.

I don't think I'd like convex keys for the 'resting fingers' reason mentioned earlier, but it's certainly not a bad idea. The amount of keycap sets you can get online is astronomical, so it is a bit puzzling that no one makes a convex set.

The DOM profile by Dwarf Factory is convex though, so if you have a spare few thousand dollars you could make yourself a very pretty concave set from those XD

I have looked for exactly this very thoroughly. No one makes convex caps, it's already difficult sourcing spherical ones. The nice ones are kinda rare, not necessarily expensive, but difficult to find. There are a few retro spherical convex caps, but good luck sourcing them and **** knows what stem they use.

If anyone ever finds a nice set of Z-profile spherical key caps that can fit a full-size or TKL and actually be found readily let me know. Convex or not.

Sorry what is Z-profile? Never heard about it.

Feels nice apart from the corner edges, I have tried to grind the edges with sandpaper and it made it closer to
what I am looking for, not perfect, but quite satisfying.

"Big flat top surface", there's MDA, and to a lesser extent XDA. Both are quite flat (even though XDA is categorized as spherical). MDA is sculpted, with a very large flat-ish top. There's also G20 profile, but quite difficult to source (try Signature Plastics).

It's like Top-Hat/ stepped profile, but the caps are always flat or slightly concave. Never seen a full convex set, only convex modifiers like alt or ctrl.

After using cherry for some years, I really started to hate non sculpted profiles and flat keycaps. I miss my Apple a1243 only for its esthetic.

If you're looking for an uncomfortable profile, just go with G20 or with uniform SA row3.

Have you ever tried using DSA?  I just started using my first DSA set and they are incredible.  I never liked the way they looked so I never tried using them but that was a mistake...They're awesome.

A lot of modern keyboards have bottom row with convex keycaps. Recently I've used  a A4tech  (it was Fstyler I think). And those keys on the bottom row feel really good, give much more pleasant tactile feedback and feel more precise for touch typing. Makes me wonder why no one tried to produce full set with similar surface shape .
