I was going to say that that is one seriously obscure reference, but if you Google "1391401," you get more than 6,000 hits, and even 29 pages into the listings, most hits are about the Model M.  Makes sense, I guess.  There must have been hundreds of thousands of them produced, and most of those that have survived have by now gravitated to people who actually know what they are.

As I'm in your general area, I promise to honk if I ever see your plates.

I'm not gonna get these for a while, I don't have $35 for the vanity plate charge lying around, but... I'll probably do it when it comes time to renew the plates.

I used to have personalized, university plates.  In Texas, you have to make a $30 donation to the school on your plates (University of Texas in my case).  The school would (more like should) send you a donation form, and after submitting it, you would get the paperwork to get the plates renewed.  I had them for about 3 years and got rid of them, because I always had to fight the school to get the donation form, and inevitably, I would always be late getting the new tags.  Fortunately, I never got a ticket (even after I failed to renew them for over a year).

You know what's cool? G84 4100 would be a regular series Illinois plate. (I'm a hobbyist licence plate spotter as well as a keyboard enthusiast. Unfortunately, I don't live in IL so if I wanted that plate I'd have to pay for the personalised plate surcharge.)

Most of the initial reserve plates in Ohio that I'd want have already been assigned.

(Ohio uses xxx nnnn, and they're already nearing the end of the Exx nnnns.)
