Figured maple can be purty, but I've never cared for wood since being tortured with it during childhood.

^^ It's a hair over 7/8", but I'm going to put a 2" edge molding on all the edges so it looks thicker

Figured maple can be purty, but I've never cared for wood since being tortured with it during childhood.

It is nice but it's a pain to work with since we had to use a surface sander to plane it to avoid getting chip outs on the figured parts. A 20 minute operation on a plane took 3 hours on the surface sander :(

No, it's the Toy Story trilogy.  If you deny me, I will question what happened to your true soul.

Well I work at Pixar, son, and JP is the best movie ever made.  Sorry, it's just the truth.  I would not be where I am today without that movie.  Though the original Toy Story is my favorite Pixar movie.

Look at the raptors, man.  That **** holds up 20 years later.

Audioengine speakers are awesome.

I've always wondered how the A2s would hold up to the A5s.

I don't mean from a technological stand-point.  Though that is quite impressive, considering what not 5 years prior tech looks like now.

I auditioned hundreads of desktop speakers and amps including audioengines a2 and a5, peachtree amp, nuforces (i had icon before, tried out hdp as an upgrade option), tangent audio speakers and I don't remember what else. With all honesty, none of them can't compare to even low to mid end HiFi systems. The only advantage of audioengines vs amp + pair of passive HiFi speakers would be space saving. Sound wise they're better than most mainstream PC speakers (even pricey B&W M1) but still worse than traditional HiFi.

Of course, that's essentially the reason I got mine. I don't have all that much room for myself and could have gotten a decent amp and passives for the price I paid, but I wanted them to be self contained.

Clean, LIKE!  I'm assuming the middle is a U3011.  What size are the ones on the side?  And what kind of stand do you use?  I have a 30" and 2 x 22".  I want to do something like this, but I don't think my 22" would be right.

Dell 3007wfp-HC in the center flanked by 2 dell 2007fp's on each side. Side monitors are 1600x1200, so they line up perfectly in portrait mode with the 30". Total resolution 4960x1600. Center mount is an ergotron mx, sides are held in by monoprice mounts. 3 mounts total. Have to thank hardforum for the inspiration, very very happy with this setup.

I shopped this setup for a while and got an incredibly good deal on it. Found the 30" at a pawn shop, with 2.5 years left on the best warranty for 400 cash (he was asking 750). The two side monitors are refurbs from Dell and ran me just over 200 shipped for both of them. Little over 600 out the door for the whole setup! ;D

Very nice.  I hope you won the IPS lottery on those 2007fps!  I have the same screen (branded as a HP), cost me about 100 buckaroos.  I got it pretty much specifically to display language references and APIs in portrait mode :)

Pardon the horrible quality picture, it's the best I can do for now.

Well a lot of people would agree that sitting all day is not good for your body so I wanted to try the standing way which is a more active position. Note that standing all the day can be bad too so I'm looking for an high chair to go with this desk so I could stand or sit like I want.

My first impressions are very good but my body is not used to it yet. My legs get tired prety fast so I have a normal backup desk :) Standing makes me move more, I'm feeling more free while working.

A lot of high chairs are pretty rubbish; look for professional draftmans chairs and don't go for any of the ones that look like a standard office chair on a long column as they're not.  They're just standard office chairs (which are rubbish) on a long column pretending to be a draftmans chair...

It could be the angle, but isn't that desk way too tall? Your arms are supposed to bend at a 90 degree bend.

Considering the scale of the room, it looks about right if he's a tall dude.

My signature hasn't changed since 2012. I should really update it.

Moved to another city for one semester so this is kind of temporary.
Also currently testing a new positioning of keyboard and mouse. Sometimes my hand still goes the long way to the right where I used to place the mouse ^^ but when that doesn't happen it's quite nice that way. :)

That's a pretty cool idea.  I'm thinking of moving my Slimblade to the center when I get my ErgoDox built.  I went from a Logitech Trackman Wheel to the Slimblade and switched hands in the process... it's been a lot to adjust to, for sure.

Could be the wood - giving the room a natural warm feel.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

^ I like the use of the red cable ties, especially on the side of the case that you usually don't see ;)

Nice surround sound too.  I should drag my extra speakers out more often.
