Any word from GMK on a deadline? They've pushed Hyperfuse way back so I'm hoping we've got a spot in the queue or we're going to be waiting a long time.

If they pushed back Hyperfuse to do this first I'll be a little bit ticked off.

Hyperfuse did finish first, if they didn't push back hyperfuse for this, and TA happens after Hyperfuse it's going to be the end of summer/beginning of fall before this comes through. I know that the community here is familiar with stuff like this happening, but I don't think the community from Massdrop will be as accepting of several months in delay from a stated delivery date.

IME Massdrop is extremely slow.

It's also possible the two will ship very close together. It's not like GMK has one guy on one machine, cranking out keycaps one at a time. Each set will probably spend less than a week in actual production. It's all the ancillary work that takes the most time.

Gonna have to agree here. I've only participated in 2 or 3 drops out of 12 or so that have been shipped to me in less than a month. Not gonna complain since I received the items and wasn't expecting a speedy delivery, but I can see why newcomers to the system would be pissed about it.

I'll probably not bother with Massdrop anymore unless it's something I really can't get anywhere else. Between the shipping fees and the extremely long wait times, it's just not really that good of a deal.

Anyway, production-wise, there's really no reason that TA can't ship within a week or two of Hyperfuse. But we don't know how long the lead time is for custom colors.

Right now the official ship date is "before Half Life 3."

It's always seemed to me that MassDrop is pretty good about getting orders turned around within a couple days of them arriving in their warehouse. It's just that large orders take a long time to manufacture, especially when they're unique like this one.

it also wouldnt surprise me if TA got in before us, there are a couple of steps between confirming the order and asking to pay, and then actually paying, and during that process the gmk replies were pretty slow back to us even though we always replied with the info needed instantly

I don't think GMK can only produce one set at a time.

I think many of you are overestimating how large of an operation GMK is.  I thought I read somewhere that they are total less than 15 people.  Short of the OEM providers in the far east who want nothing to do with us (and honestly, provide little of interest), everyone in this world is a small operation.

Perhaps, but don't underestimate how quickly a well-equipped production line (even a small one) can spit out this kind of product.

True but I imagine that the set up period takes a little while for each set - especially when working with an entirely new color of plastic

I wouldn't bother with massdrops updates, I'd ask Intelli as he is the one running the show - massdrop is really just there because Intelli lacks the infrastructure and time to ship 1000+ orders

We spoke with GMK earlier today and they said this wholesale order will be ready for shipment by July 10th from their facility in Germany.

Once the group’s order is ready, GMK will send the bulk shipment to our warehouse where we’ll break it up into individual orders and ship them off to you as soon as possible.

Our warehouse is prepared to get your package shipped out the moment it arrives. Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 6/25.

I got an email back from GMK saying basically the same thing as the Massdrop email today. They are just waiting to receive the custom plastics and will bust out the order pretty fast after the material arrives. Should be shipping everything to Massdrop in 5-6 weeks.

Last I heard, ship date was July 10, which is less than a month's delay from original ship date. The delay appears to be due to taking extra time to ensure proper custom colours, both on Intelli's part and on the part of GMK's supplier.

We spoke with GMK earlier today and they informed us of an unexpected delay from one of their material suppliers. The last remaining shipment of the material needed for our production order to complete will arrive by end of next week. Unfortunately, this mean the order will only be ready for us to pick up from GMK's German facility by July 21.
Our freight partner in Germany is on standby, and they will be ready to pick up the shipment from GMK within moment notice. Our warehouse staff have also all been informed of the urgent nature of everyone's orders in this drop. Needless to say, we are all prepared to get these out to everyone as soon as the production is completed.
We understand this delay is undesirable and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. Knowing what we do, we think the keycap set is definitely worth the wait and up to the communities lofty expectations, but if you prefer not to wait and would like to cancel the order instead please submit a ticket via our Support page (https://www.massdrop.com/support), and we will take care of your request right away.
