First one appears to have more noise intact and better rendering of reds suggesting improved chroma subsampling. So I'd guess first is the BD.

What I'm assuming is the web stream looks very similar for that shot though.

Pretty sharp. But I suspect coreda was already an expert pre test based on his explanation..

I might argue if you need to stare at a still image like it's a Magic Eye to see quality differences, perhaps it's totally arbitrary.

That's the whole purpose of compression is to look for that line.  I think they've got the science down, but here and there you really do catch the compression artifacts.


If you look at the little yellow dude, he's a different color due to the compression.
