I mean, I need a regular Top mount FJELL pro as well, and a normal FJELL eventually. If you run them both together, that would be fantastic, but if only one takes priority, then FJELL Pro HHKB all the way!

1) FJELL Pro HHKB
2) FJELL Pro Normal
3) Top mount 75% FJELL
4) FJELL Tray mount

I assume one is top mounted is not by what is said, but I honestly have no idea what that means (I buy all my boards either assembled or have friends kindly assemble them for me as I don't solder).

You're slightly incorrect here.
Top mount isn't purely for aesthetics, but for typing feel too. There's a big difference between a tray mount Case (Plate/PCB attach to the bottom of the case) versus a top mounted case (Plate attached to the top case, PCB floats free). Most high quality customs tend to be top mounted.
I could elaborate more, but in sure someone will jump in and give their experiences with both! I'm a huge fan of top mounted cases, however.
Edit: I also believe he may offer both top mounted HHKB and top mounted 60% if this is chosen! Fringers crossed!

I appreciate both responses, that's very nice of you to clear that up for me - fingers crossed indeed, I'd probably go for the HHKB layout myself as I already own a good 60% board and have no MX HHKB yet but being able to choose would definitely be great!

I still want this. Working on a way to distort time to hasten my acquisition of this case. Two failed prototypes, but I'm hoping I have a breakthrough soon. Still keeping hold of sanity, but it's becoming increasingly difficult to do so. Will report back tomorrow. End entry.

Yeah, this is similar to the LZ-CE. Makes me wonder if this was the "modular" board you had in your project thread, or the beginnings of one. Unless that's going to be way different. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it.

At first I thought it was only held by the 6 tabs too, until LeandreN pointed out the inside edges of the case.

It's a case mounted plate, so it should be fine. Similar to the TX board plate style. :thumb:

Its not meant to be a replacement case for your actual hhkb, it's still going to be a 60% case for Cherry MX PCBs, just with blocked corners so you can use the HHKB layout

The idea is to have this case higher profile than other cases so you cant see the gap.

If I can find a vendor that is able to handle FJELL orders, I will be able to go that route. I will make sure it is safe for every participant. Manufacturing will go through my factory anyway. Everything will still be LeandreN style with Mekanisk branding, but it would allow me to have better fulfillment for more cases. This might change later, as Mekanisk grows.
Also, the simple case is ready for mass production very soon.

That's a beautiful red. I'm totally in for one, I hope the FJELL Pro also comes in Red!
I do have a huge request - Your plates offer switchtop removal, however having the huge gaps on the side aren't really the best for stability, especially with pulling keycaps off of Clears.
Would it be possible to change the switchtop style to the one that also holds the switch on the sides, and only gaps in the 4 corners? Like the M65 plate?
I would provide an image here, but I'm not too sure how. I can message you an example if you'd like. :)

+1 Simple Case - Best high profile case I have seen in a long time. Very minimalist too.
+1 Fjell Classic - This case is not just a case, it's a statement. It's almost like a fashion statement, but for the desk.
Really hopeful, since my endgames would be both these cases no doubt about it.

Edit: Kawasaki brings up a very good manufacturing point. Unless it's 3D printed, there's no way to make that shape without a 2 piece design.

MAO is a harder surface than anodizing. You may be thinking about powder coating. MAO for aluminum creates a thin corundum oxide layer. Natural corundum is also know as ruby or sapphire. The only thing that should scratch mao is diamond.

I showed the image to a guy working with an aluminum factory where many customized mechanical keyboards are produced, he told me it is MAO.
Then I do some Google and I found cerkote and MAO should mean the same thing. cerkote is the name of the result, while MAO is the name of the processing.
Whatever I'm not too care about the fact actually cause I didn't see it in real life, so I may be wrong. :p

This is 100% false. Cerakote is a thin film ceramic coating. It is sprayed on and then cured (baked) hard.
Micro-Arc Oxidation or Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation is a chemical process like anodizing. It involves submerging the metal in an electrolytic solution and blasted with high voltage which causes plasma to form and a crystalline ceramic oxide layer to form into the surface of the metal through subsuface Oxidation.
It yields a smoother finish than any anodizing and is ~5x harder than hard anodizing (dark grey like pots and pans). If you scratch or chip a PEO case you are trying really hard. PEO is one of the hardening techniques used to coat aluminum parts to make them viable to replace steel parts. It's REALLY durable.

AEK64 is a layout. It's a 60% board based on the old Apple AEK boards, but in a 60% size. Most of the time using Hasu's Alps64 PCB, and whatever case you want (Fjell, for example).
Someone recently ran a closed group buy of a 60% case, called the AEK64, which I think is where the confusion came from - I've seen this a few times already, actually - after seeing that new steel case, because the case is named after a layout that already existed..
ETA: that is to say, one could build a an 'AEK64' keyboard, with or without the new 'AEK64' steel case, and it would still be an AEK64 keyboard. If that makes sense Kawasaki?

Whether it's superior depends on the traits you view as more important.
Top-mounted cases tend to feel more solid since the plate is attached to the case. Though if it is improperly designed it can also have pinging issues when the plate transfers the keystroke to the case. They are also capable of coming in the HHKB layout with Universal PCB's (GH60). They also tend to be more expensive since the multiple parts makes it more complicated to produce.
Tray-mounted cases offer a different feel since the PCB is attached to the case instead of the plate. IMO this gives the keyboard a softer feel. mmm I don't think so. GMK Coniferous, Elvish PBT, SA Camping, and probably some other ones would probably work!
I wouldn't worry about finding sets, I'd be worried about paying for it all haha.

Definitely worth it IMO though (though I AM easy to please :D)
My old low profile case didn't even have supports at the top/bottom, so between the weight AND the extra support, it feels WAY more solid than it was before.
The slope looks so nice with GMK caps too, I really hope green and navy blue happen someday :D

It looks like the Simple HHKB case has the asymmetrical blockers on the bottom? If so, I'm in for that. If the Fjell Pro is available with the asymmetrical HHKB bottom row blockers, I'd get one of those, too.There is no simple HHKB case, in the photo the Klippe is compared to a HHKB. The Simple/Klippe has only full bottom row.

So is the gray one different from the gray color sold on 1upkeyboards, or are they the same color?Slight difference, this one is aimed at being dark and cool(not that warm/red) however there are none that knows exactly how it will look.

Assuming the design hasn't changed it does work. I have multiple leandren pro ansi plates that I use with tsangan bottom row.

This is great, I’m hyped. Any chance of an updated plate for the new Klippe Pro/Tind without the large side gaps on the switch holes? That greatly affects acoustics and switch stability.
