HOW TO TURN YOUR RAM INTO CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

After Thanksgiving, many of us will be putting up our Christmas decorations. Here's a simple way you can show off your "geekiness" by decorating your Christmas tree with RAM.
[/COLOR]

MATERIALS

First, to start off, you need a piece of RAM, some wire, and something to cut the wire with.

Here's the RAM card I'm going to hang on my Christmas tree.

HOW TO DO IT

Making RAM into Christmas ornamants is easy. If you look at the photo of the RAM card above, you should see a hole at each end.

First, cut a piece of the wire a little shorter than a pencil.

Then, thread it through one of the holes. Either hole will work just fine.

After you've threaded the wire through the hole, twist it around a few times to make a loop.

Now it's time to make the hook on the other end. An easy way to do it is to wrap the end around a pencil.

Now you've got a complete Christmas ornament!

Now, you can either hang it on your crummy little cardboard Christmas tree in your basement...

...or on a real one.

MW, next week can you show us the fetuses in jars you store.  I still can't believe you found them from a local clinic!

bah, office party ddr just for laughs, it's everyone's first time tell tell sign is everyone goes back to the middle starting position. Even after a few hours beginnings never start in the middle and just leave the feet where the last arrow was. (i start off left and right arrow)

no one gives MW credit, he's really trying to work the trolling and the effort he puts into it is commendable.

How was this trolling? I just thought you all might be interested in hanging old RAM on your Christmas trees.

Oh, and by the way, I'm sorry the pictures are too big. I'm too used to taking pictures for articles on a crappy cell phone camera. I'll try and resize them when I got the time.

Oh he does. But those are too dull and unimportant.
Old computers provide a much more homely experience... the warm CRT glow... the gentle hum of the pentium 1 fan... the rythmic ringing of ancient 145 watt PSUs... ahhhhh. Oh and don't forget the musical tonalities that radiate from ISA soundcards!

Pentium Overdrives had fans on them instead of heat sinks. I remember when I  put one of those in my  old Hewlett-Packard computer to soup it up long  ago.

Hard Drive Platters Too!
« Reply #14 on: Fri, 01 July 2011, 23:40:44 »
My favorite thing to make christmas ornaments out of is hard drive platters!!  A family friend refurbishes dumpster pc's and donates them to people and he comes across ALOT of bad hard drives. I break out my trusty TORX screwdrivers and and take the platter out everytime. They also make a GREAT drink coasters!  Somtimes if the spindle is removeable and the platters are all "there" then i will remove the platters and the spindle then put it back together. Attached is a picture of my daughter using one as a chew toy.

The amount of cleaning that goes into making those stainless steel hard drive platters I assumed they were safe. I also washed them with soap and water before hand. It was in her mouth for all off of about 1 minute. Sorry to scare you lol

Well he's got a read-write head sitting on top of the axle thing that holds the platters together. Not how it shows up on real hard drives.

Oh, yeah, and with the picture, the platters aren't actually magnetic enough to hold that magnet up there. There must be something behind it.
